Brake Creaking Kinda Sound
Wacky Dee replied to mystery_kid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I had this exact same creaking appear when I changed to slotted rotors and new pads ..but it went away on its own after a month or so. -
Update On New Laws Regarding Lowering Cars
Wacky Dee replied to Jmaac's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
So wait ... they gave everyone 2 weeks to get an engineers certificate ? I suspect there are tens of thousands of lowered cars, how's that gonna work in 2 weeks? Unless of course this is just another cash grab because they know it's not gonna happen in such a short period of time. If they want everyone to comply, they should make it free of charge to go to the RTA and have an engineer look over it and issue a certificate/defect. -
my front is bugging me too as its higher than the sideskirts and rearbar ... stock frontbar. But I don't want a superlow frontbar thats impractical for a daily or something that cracks easily... There's really not that much choice out there for R34s is there Theres always that nissan optional factory lip but I'm not into the whole snowplough look and plus they're so rare it's not worth even looking for one.

Here it is ... http://www.nengun.com/east-bear/front-spoi...ero-form-bumper

Aznbongsta is that the frontbar from that Ebay dude (mybodykits or something like that) ? How's the quality of the front ..did it need a lot of modifying? easy to paint or did you get that typical fibreglass ripple look after painting?

Update On New Laws Regarding Lowering Cars
Wacky Dee replied to Jmaac's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
so anyone who has already lowered their car up to 5cm will also have to get a cert or risk being fined/defected from Aug 1 ? What the hell... Mine's lowered only 2cm or so from stock and I was planning on dropping it another 2cm when i put new springs in. Any ideas how much the engineers cert for the suspension might cost ?? -
R34 Eastbear Leds With Stock Lenses?
Wacky Dee replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
yeah I have some clear plastic I'm gonna try it on first ... found this "Tamiya TS-73" which is a model car paint. Apparently that particular color is "clear orange" and can be applied to plastics. Will give it a try soon. Might need to tint the red part with some normal tint just to make it a bit darker and match the stockies .. is that sprayon tint from car shops any good? night shades or whatever it's called -
hm I have similar issues although stock R34 GTT brakes with slotted rotors...but my BMC is leaking. THe R34 BMC that you're selling ..is thatt of a turbo or non-turbo ? ie GT or GTT ? Has it been rebuilt? leaking ? Price ?
-
Need to have a new brake master cylinder installed on my GTT as well as caliper pistons rebuilt. I saw a repair kit from brakewest for $180 on Ebay but no idea who could do the work for me in Sydney? My usual mechanic is way too busy and I'm a bit tired of having to wait a number of weeks to get stuff done. Anyway, is there a recommended brake specialist in sydney? I think I spoke to some guy at a place called "racebrakes" in Sydney once and he seemed very knowledgable/friendly on the phone giving out free advice etc Has anyone used this mob? Oh yeah if anyone knows how to check if the brake booster is working properly or needs a rebuild do let me know. Cheers
-
hey mate how'd you go after rebuilding the calipers and booster ? any change?

Xd9 Rims And Impul Body Kit On Black Er34
Wacky Dee replied to Black R34 GT-T's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
big fan of impul here too (have the sideskirts) but IMO the whole kit looks best on a light coloured car ... on a black one you can't really see the curves/details on the bumper bar at all. I've got a nismo (not nissan altia) rear bar, impul sides and nothing at the front atm .. thinking of getting this for the front but worried about clearance http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-GTR-Skyline-...%3A1%7C294%3A50 Oh and bronze wheels look great on a black skyline but I'd go for something with less spokes (5-6 tops) Check out the DTM Z7 Bronze wheels in the trader section, cheap, light and look great. -
R34 Eastbear Leds With Stock Lenses?
Wacky Dee replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
yeah good idea ..just not sure if the red area is completely flat, don't think it is .. Would be up for it if doable. Anyways, any ideas who would have tints for plastic or could do this ? Searched for "amber tint" couldn't find anything.. -
Make Your Skyline More Resistant To Thieves....
Wacky Dee replied to smok74's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
if they want to just "get in" they can just smash the window ..easier and quicker too. This is where alarms and immobilisers come in handy. -

Alert Shire Car Owners Organised Thefts Occuring Now
Wacky Dee replied to TBOOST's topic in New South Wales
I don't live anywhere near the shire but I think it's time to look into a GPS tracker .. can anyone recommend a cheap one that works well? I already have a mongoose pager which I can sort-of track to within 100m or so as it uses a standard Telstra sim card but I don't think that's good nuff. -
The New Soft Brake Pedal Thread.
Wacky Dee replied to Abo Bob's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
has anyone had the brake master serviced or replaced with a new one and in doing so fixed the initial spongyness on skylines with abs ? -
Make Your Skyline More Resistant To Thieves....
Wacky Dee replied to smok74's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
does this apply to R34's as well ?? I have taken the door trims off more than once before but I don't recall seeing a "anti carjack switch". Is that the switch that locks/unlocks both doors when you push it? Will leaving it disconnected cause any problems with existing alarm etc ? -

Looking For A Good Mobile Electrician
Wacky Dee replied to Hiroshima Screamer's topic in New South Wales
hey Eddie, try this guy ..someone recommended him to me the other day when i was asking the same question.. pulse mobile auto electrical. peter - 0407 008 651 Let me know if he's any good if you end up getting him to do the install as I will need to do the same soon -
that sux and good luck in finding it in one piece Man when I bought mine last year, finance company (StGeorge Bank) wouldn't even let me buy it without first getting full comprehensive insurance covering the full loan amount ... and I booked in a professional immo/alarm install to coincide with delivery date but still was weary for the one night it was unalarmed (even though it's locked underground in a patrolled carpark) You took a huge gamble with no insurance/alarm .. sorry to say, it's just not worth being stingy in that regard. I might actually look into this gps tracking now myself ..even though I'm told the alarm I have is virtually unbreakable and they'd have to truck the car away if anything.

I was about to ask about this headunit as well ... is it possible you simply don't stock this item (yet) ? I'm not sure if you're infering it's a fake/copy or what.. It's on their 'Asia' web site http://www.alpine-asia.com/index.php?optio...&Itemid=275 Is there any other jap brand headunit with good bluetooth for under $300 that you would recommend ? Cheers

look I'm happy to admit I dont know jack shit about wiring ... but I know what I've read/seen, there was even a thread here on SAU and someone recommended the same thing for the RCAs to get better earth.. I'll try and find one on ebay which has it...and no, it's got nothing to do with remote power for the amp. eg. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/AUDIOPIPE-PK1500X-A...%3A2%7C294%3A50 17FT (5METRES) BLUE 2RCA TO 2RCA FLYLEAD / SIGNAL LEAD (CONNECTS FROM AMP TO HEADUNIT) RCA LEAD HAS EARTH LEAD TO REDUCE POTENTIAL GROUND LOOP PROBLEMS I've seen similar on another auction but I think it has ended now ..had a little earth wire sticking out of the RCA cable near the connectors..
