  1. Just got my creme leatherette covers for my R34 .. looked at the instruction 'manual' (just a bunch of r33 photos) and it looks very complicated if you want a tight finish. I remember reading here somewhere before that someone had their leatherette cover fitted by a trimmer around sydney somewhere and they came up perfect, Does anyone know any trimmers who've done these covers and can do a 100% job (no loose fittings etc) .. I want to replace the factory covers, not just slip these on over them. I also need my carpets (or atleast the thin top layer) replaced with pure black ones so might do all this in one go Can anyone recommend a motor trimmer in Sydney that does a good job but isn't too expensive ? Some of the places I spoke to wanted $400 just to change the carpets which I find ridiculous considering carpet itself wouldn't cost more than $50 in materials.
  2. best way to find out would be to take the door trim off ... takes about 5 mins all up. Having said that, mine makes a weird rattle when it's about to be completely shut and I couldn't locate the issue
  3. ah thanks .. so it could be something like the pfc check engine light thing where it flashes if it detects knock while ur driving ? I've read about the coilpack issue ie. R34 needs an ignition adapter to stop coils from frying, this comes included right ?
  4. Just remove the part, dump into metho and take off paint with scourer and start from scratch for the best results IMO ... spray lightly but do 3 coats and she'll be right
  5. does it come with any sort of display / knock warning alarm or anything like that ? What's that neo ignition chip all about? I'm interested but it's over my budget
  6. any ETA on GB #44 deliveries?
  7. so does every dyno have this feature ? most of the ones I've been to were Dynalink I think..
  8. Ok I won't argue with you as I agree with you for the most part, except that dyno is the most accurate tune for a daily driver for example (which is most cars here I suspect). How do you load up a car on the dyno anyway in 2nd ??? On the street all you need to do is goto the highway outside peak hour and find a steep and long uphill stretch .. that's what we were doing. I think Toshi's comment was that he does not understand how load is even simulated on the dyno in 2nd 3rd etc in the low-mid range RPM .. Where does the load come from when the car is usually sitting there strapped in nose pointing downward and spinning 2 rollers with the rear wheels ? Yes those are genuine questions, not being sarcastic. Toshi also mentioned that there are a handful of places that have expensive dynos with some special devices (not just rollers) which are used to simulate load but I can't remember the details. However every dyno I have been to was the standard 2 rollers and that's it..
  9. just take it easy and drive off-boost until Dr Drift has tuned it if you're certain that it's pinging or you might be up for a new engine and that ain't cheap..
  10. By the way, at the very least you should have your ecu remapped if you can't afford an aftermarket one .. Toshi here in Sydney does a GTT for $400 I believe. He'll fix up your ignition timing and AFRs to prevent detonations I think there's a guy called Dr Drift down in Melbourne who does the same thing.
  11. I've never heard anyone call it "pinking" before either lol It's eithet dotonatin/knocking or pinging. Anyway, I have tried to hear an engine pinging when the tuner said it was doing it ..and I was right next to the engine with the bonnet up and I couldn't hear shit over the engine noise. So for you to be able to hear it from your driver seat whilst driving .. hmm, it's either not detonation or you've got some violent detonations and the engine is about to blow up
  12. That entirely depends on the car you have ... the last remaining batches of R34 PFCs were bought up by a few greedy retailers it seems who've been price gouging everyone ... asking up to $2400 for a PFC, which is ridiculous. I'd rather get a brand new Vipec plugin for less than $2k than a PFC, tbh.
  13. Well your logic escapes me .. do you drive your car on the dyno when going to the shops or when you go for a cruise? Dynos are good for tuning the top end ie. for racing puroses. Daily driving doesn't involve loading the car up in 4th and hitting the limiter.. Having said that, as I said before ..street tuning anything about 5000rpm becomes real dangerous due to the speeds involved so I'd prefer a dyno next time.
  14. I received my package today too .. took a bit over 2 months but it's finally here. Haven't yet had a chance to check everything but so far it looks awesome. However due to the packaging it's been crushed and there are a million creases .. what's the best way to get the creases out? just leave out in the sun for 10-15 mins? Does anyone have installation instructions by any chance? I was told it'd come with like a shitload of instructions (200 pages from memory) but there was nothing included
  15. which piggyback does timing ?? I thought they're only for AFRs and you need a PFC to do ign timing
  16. Oh and another thing .. forget ecu remaps if you can get a PFC. I paid approx. $600 iirc for a remap and fine tune later. Then days later when I saw Yavuz at Unigroup he told me he had a used PFC laying around and would do a full tune + pfc for $1100 I think he said. I was kicking myself for days and still am ... wish I'd gotten the PFC and the dyno tune. I don't know, I just don't trust the ecu remap.
  17. I had my R34 GTT street tuned by Toshi (ecu remap) NOT because of lower costs vs dyno tune BUT because Toshi reckoned a street tune is far more reliable as you can tune the maps both under load and with no load iirc. I can't say I understood everything he said (not just due to my lack of understanding of timings/load etc but also language barrier). However TBH if I were to tune/remap the ecu again I WOULD go for the dyno. As someone mentioned above you really need to drive REALLY fast when street tuning when doing 4000+ rpm and at some point I was driving 150Kmh+ I wouldn't do it again 1) beauce if a highway patrol caught me it'd be instant loss of license and huge fine 2) you're really putting everyone on the road at unnecessary risk.
  18. I'm pretty sure 440cc would be good for only about 250-260rwkw. Are you gonna use forged internals ? I wouldn't go above 260kw on a stock engine either unless you have forged internals
  19. apparently denso = sard ? I just did a quick search for Denso and some people referred to them as SARD. I think 480cc is more than enough for about 300kW so 600cc should be plenty. Remember you will need a PFC or some other ecu management to use bigger injectors.
  20. there's a big difference between the nismo and sard injectors but ... from what I've read anyway. Apparenty the nismo ones have more spray nozzles and a finer spray pattern which results in better combustion = more power and better fuel economy. Does anyone know how the deatschwerks compare to the nismo injectors ? Apparently they use 'Denso' brand. 440cc are about $700 delivered http://www.deatschwerks.com/catalog/produc...products_id=208
  21. you need to sign up ..its basically a company that does bidding on japanese yahoo auctions on your behalf (as most japanese sellers wont ship outside japan) organizes your delivery etc but charge a fee of course. That particular auction is over ..not sure if it sold or if it will be relisted. There's a set of new nismo 480cc's up there right now for $700 but with shipping and other fees it comes to $1k
  22. check on importmonster.. I recently found a set of nismo 480cc's for less than $400 delivered, posted a thred about it because I know how much sought after they are here and it was deleted.
  23. how the hell did he find out about the earth? Seriously sometimes the weirdness of skylines issues is a real worry and so depressing. How much does an OEM (don't have PFC so cant use z32) replacement AFM for an R34 GTT cost approx. ?
  24. full motorsports helmet for <$100 ??? WHERE !! I want one even if to just wear it at home playing computer games
  25. best if you speak to Josh over the phone and get him to agree to some sort of ETA +/- a week ,... some people have been waiting for their goods for ages because he's very busy sometimes (all the time?)
