I really wouldn't worry about the exhaust if your gf is driving it and it's not really that loud - most aren't from what I've seen. But then again it depends on the area where you live and what the cops are like. I rarely get pulled over and was never asked to even pop my bonnet or anything about my exhaust... As for the pod, get a panel filter ..that's a straight defect unless it's fully enclosed. I spoke to a couple of experienced skyline mechanics and they said pod filters are a wank factor for the most part and most road driven skylines.

I was really looking forward to this as it would've been my first cruise but it was not meant to be it seems ... new whiteline bushes shat themselves on one wheel and need replacing which won't happen until monday/tuesday. Have fun ya'll

Noisy Steering When Car Cold?
Wacky Dee replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah I checked the fluid ..seems to be in there, gonna take it to pedders see if they can put it up on a hoist and locate the issue. Yeah mr gray I'm getting sick of it too... if they were simple issues I'd suck it up but I get all these weird ones and it's not even a trashed car -
Well considering the stock GTT turbo is rated at 12.5psi MAX I'd say you either have a highflowed turbo or a non stock turbo or a BLOWN turbo and you don't even know it ;-) I'm yet to hear of anyone running more than 12psi on a stock gtt (non-hiflowed) for more than a little while without blowing it.

Noisy Steering When Car Cold?
Wacky Dee replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
guys am I barking up the wrong tree with wheel alignment? should I even bother or instead take it to pedders to inspect the psteering pump, tie rods , wheel bearings and that sort of thing ?? -
whats tbe problem with your GTT? I've had nothing but nightmares with my power steering pump which was finally fixed 6 months ago and now just yesterday cars started making creaking/scraping noise when turning steering wheel and whining feedback coming back through steering wheel when turning... I'm so getting tired of this shit. Sorry guys I'm probably out if i cant get this fixed before sunday which I doubt as all the mechanics always seem to be swamped with work..

Noisy Steering When Car Cold?
Wacky Dee replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
If you look at the vid ... good example of the loud scraping noise is at 0:15, 0:20, 0:24, 1:03, 1:34 and the steering wheel whining from 1:39 to 1:49 or so as I drive it thru the garage.. -
lol as high as 13/100kms .. I WISH. My r34 GTT drinks 16.5l/100Kms in city driving and that's not racing or being an idiot ..remapped ecu so its not running rich either. Original O2 sensor but its not showing any error codes - oh yea BP Ultimate only. I got my 34 gtt and it had low Ks and was stock completely .. and Im starting to think it was a lemon, spent more than 2-3k in repairs alone in less than a year and now I've got whining/feedback through my steering wheel accompanied with loud scraping when I turn the sterring wheel... f**king getting tired of it.

Noisy Steering When Car Cold?
Wacky Dee replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I've uploaded a video of it to youtube at and also at my internode web space (same vid): http://users.on.net/~sp23/MVI_0451c.avithe exhaust is a bit loud and its hard to hear the whiny feedback noiseas I'm turning but its there if you listen to it closely as I'm turning the wheel. Also you can hear the very loud scraping/metallic rattle that also happens but not all the time (its noticable at the very beginning) -
guys my steering has become quite noisy when I'm turning the steering wheel also there's sometimes what sound like a 'rattle' coming from the under the car somewhere in the steering rack/suspension region somewhere... Its quite loud when the engine is cold in the morning etc. Last week I scraped the gutter with my 2 LHS wheels (at low speed ie. <10kph) and that's the only thing I can think of that might have done something. I'm booked in tommorow at beaus repairs for a front and real wheel alignment but I'm not sure if that will fix it at all. What else can cause noise and feedback/vibration to be coming back through the steering wheel as you're turning it, esp. when cold? Can gutter rash cause damage to steering rack or anything like that? Can a wheel alignment fix noisy steering ?

Car Missing Under Light Throttle And On Idle.
Wacky Dee replied to R33-RB26DETT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
try regapping plugs to 0.9 or 1.0 .. My car was constantly misfiring on idle/low load when new plugs the mechanic put in were gapped at 0.7 -
Got 4 of these (18x8.5" +35) on my R34 but would like the wider (9.5) on the rear so if anyone has bought perhaps a whole set of 18x9.5" +35 and finds them too wide for the front, let me know and we can trade 2 for 2..some cash your way too. Cheers
-
have DTM wheels too 18x8.5" all around ..rubber is Maxxis VZ1 or something like that. 245/40/18 all around Isn't 225/40 a bit too narrow for 18x8.5" ??? I guess the tyre would be stretched? I don't understand why people do that (not being a smartass, I just don't know why its done) Oh and good choice on wheels AND sizes ..I f**ked up and got 8.5" at the rears, should've gone 9.5 for rears like you.

Hub Centric Spacers
Wacky Dee replied to DAS KAMU's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
what a PITA .. wish I'd hadn't pussied out when I was buying my wheels and just got wider at the back .. I thought 9.5" would be too wide but it'd be perfect -
Hub Centric Spacers
Wacky Dee replied to DAS KAMU's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
oh yeah I forgot about the adapter thickness and original studs sticking out .. 25mm would be a bit too extreme for me I think as the wheels would stick out too much. How hard is it to cut 1cm off of the original studs so they can fit with 15mm adapters? would there be enough thread left for them to hold the adapter safely?? -
Hub Centric Spacers
Wacky Dee replied to DAS KAMU's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
im thinking of putting on 15mm hubcentric spacers from justjap on my rear wheels too ..bit worried about the safety aspect of it too. I guess my main concern is the nuts coming off ..but that should be easily fixed with thread tape/locktight (or whatever its called) but theres still the chance of the studs on the spacers being shit quality and breaking (unlike the high quality factory ones) as most of them would be coming from china... -
well u got lucky then ..same parts cost me close to $300 from a wrecker and it was a PITA to find at wreckers ..only one in Sydney had an R34 (and it was a GTR too)
-
no, gear surround is fine .. You don't even need to rip out the lcd screen, I did but it's not necessary if you just wanna put a new stereo in there..
-
$1500 is pretty damn affordable. I kept seeing quotes by people here on the forums saying even $3-4k is CHEAP for a good paint job and I was like, wtf for real? By "outside respray" I assume you mean they do the whole car minus engine bay, inside door frames (ie. doors opened), inside boot etc? I have a black (JV1 I think or GV1) r34 gtt with a LOT of fine scratches that a $500 detailing job didnt' really fix .. plus there's a crapload of rock chips on bonnet and roof and scratches on doors. Wish I knew it was only $1500 for an outside respray earlier ... but even so my 34 needs a respray BAAAD, If its REALLY only that much I'm gonna start saving.

I've converted mine, you will need new ac fascia, double din stereo fascia and new metal brackets that hold all of it in the centre console.. do a search, it's been explained before. You can get the parts from nissan or from wreckers - I suggest Nissan as you won't pay any more than wreckers and the parts will be new. It's not so simple if you don't know what your'e doing .. took me a couple of weeks of fuxoring around but I repainted all the bits too.
