Any Recent Experiences With Carmate ?
Wacky Dee replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
wow just when I'm trying to do up my car some idiot smashes in my rear ... half blind old bloke, smashes into a van behind me and the van smaeshes into me. The lid isn't lining up to the rear bar/lights correctly anymore and the towtruck smashrepairer/vulture on the scene said the metal underbody probably got pushed in and estimated $3k damage, even though there's no visible damage other than a 1cm gap between boot lid and rear bar. Now I can't even get the new bar fitted until this mess is sorted out. Thank god for insurance .. but f**k I hate doing this, almost same thing happened just 2 years, mid december also, ago and it took more than 6 weeks to have my car the way it was before the accident and for no reason than someone else being a shit driver. -
this is totally messed up and I reckon it's about time our court/justice systems had an overhaul. Too many times scumbags like this get away with a slap on the wrist, even if it's GTA with an illegal firearm. We need to start mass imprisoning idiots, imposing huge fines and deporting or Sydney WILL become a complete cesspool

Nissan Skyline R34 Gtt Nismo/aero Factory Bodykit
Wacky Dee replied to Kendall's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
What's your point mate? I like the kit whether it's rare or not, it just happens to be rare. Why do I think it's rare ? Because I've been looking for a kit since I got my 34 approx. 8 months ago and came accross one member's piccies just a few days ago - first time I saw one and I thought I'd seen them all up until then. -
Nissan Skyline R34 Gtt Nismo/aero Factory Bodykit
Wacky Dee replied to Kendall's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
the 'Nismo' rear bar is "rare" because I've only seen 2 so far ... and I don't think it's rare because it's shit. And no I didn't get it just because it's rare but because I like the look. I'm probably going to take my wing off and this rar bar gives it a nice chunky bum which IMO would look good without a wing. As for the Nissan optional Aero - it's on approx. 50% of the 34's coming from Japn which is why it's common. Nothing wrong with this kit, just thought I'd clear up the whole naming thing because it can be confusing for people looking for a kit. -
Nissan Skyline R34 Gtt Nismo/aero Factory Bodykit
Wacky Dee replied to Kendall's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
The GTT kit many people here seem to refer to as the 'Nismo' is actually not Nismo at all - it's the Nissan optional Aero kit, sometimes referred to as Altia I believe. It's the one with the front bar that has the black-plastic middle bit with 'SKYLINE' written on it and the rear bar has the slanted middle section. Like this: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...ts-t204546.html The Nismo rear bar looks like this: http://carmate.com/product_details.php?pro...&p_id=10208 and it's very rare (which is why I just got one! ;D) -
Any Recent Experiences With Carmate ?
Wacky Dee replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Just went today for a trial fit and the side skirts needed some modifications plus there WILL be a small gap in one or 2 non-obvious spots but it'll probably be close to perfect once painted and glued on (I was told the small gap would be filled with black glue anyways) The rear bar on the other hand was a perfect fit - no modifications required, it just lined up perfectly the first time which was a huge surprise. Should have it painted and fitted by around xmass time, will update when it's done. So far it's been a pleasant experience. Now if only the Ztune frontbar that JSAI was making, would get finished already ... the car's gonna look weird with side skirts and rear bar and only the factory front which sits pretty high up. -
Nissan Factory Tail Lights

bump -
nothing wrong with them, I'm just entertaining the thought of getting the aftermarket LEDs .. Make an offer - I want somewhere around $300-400 If that's too much for factory lights, I might give the whole thing a miss then.

well put me down for one for a series 2 R34 GT-T (manual) in silver, in case you get enough interest

seen this one ?? http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...at=0&page=1

or you can just plug the ipod into the aux input of the cd player at the front (the one in the centre console) ...obviously you'll need to control via ipod and ipod won't be powered by car's battery I have the same factory tv popup screen/cd player unit minus the stacker in the back and it's a PITA to replace the radio/cassette player because the plastic surround is V shaped

Any Recent Experiences With Carmate ?

The reason for the 'trial fit' he said was basically because they haven't fitted the Nismo style rear bar themselves before so it's necessary ... I can understand an extra $50 charge if they're gonna spend an hour or 2 taking my bar off, putting theirs on, measuring everything and then reversing the process .. The side skirts they said shouldn't be an issue, they've fitted plenty without a problem If some other more reputable shop sold the Nismo rear bar I'd consider it but I don't think i've ever seen it anywhere else for an R34 and these are pretty sweet and rare bars. Same with the impul side skirts..DMS are in QLD aren't they? I'm in sydney so it'd need to be shipped and I'd have no way to inspect the goods prior to shipping to check the quality and condition, plus FB can get damaged in transit quite easily I wisj JSAI had more options for R34's as I'm getting the Ztune front from him and he's a great bloke and in Sydney ..having said that, the Ztune was meant to be finished atleast 5-6 months ago Thanks for the comments guys. I might just get the side skirts from Carmate .. and get the ztune rear pods from JSAI only -

yeah who? I went down there with a mate and had a chat with one of the guys, seemed very friendly and reassuring. For $100 they'll trial fit the bar and skirts (I get $50 of that back if I go ahead) and modify them as needed ..atleast that's what he said. -
Japanese Aftermarket Radio Conversion
Wacky Dee replied to R-sanichi's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
I have a GTT with the TV/Cassette player too and I'd get a new deck but the facia on this thing is V shaped so a standard deck will leave a gap on atleast one side. Is there any simple way to fill this gap that doesn't look dodgy? -

Hey Terry, did they fix the side skirt without stuffing you around ? What was wrong with it ? -

$1400 for rear bar and skirts, painted and fitted is a pretty decent price I reckon as original items would cost atleast $3k PLUS paint/fittment fees. -
Any Recent Experiences With Carmate ?
Wacky Dee replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
yeah i'd most likely have them paint and fit the bar and skirts too, so I guess that's an extra safety net ie. they can't claim it's not their fault if the paint or fittment isn't perfect. What did you get from them ? -
looking to get a Nismo style rear bar and impul style side skirts for my R34 GTT ... and carmate's the only place that has these, plus they're not too far away from me. But I've read a few not-so-good things about them in the past so I'm a bit weary .. I'm not exactly the patient or tolerant type either, so I'd rather not goto them if I'm guaranteed bad service, idiocy, bad fittment etc Anyone had any recent experiences with them ?? This is the rear bar: http://carmate.com/product_details.php?pro...&p_id=10208 Side skirts: http://carmate.com/product_details.php?pro...&p_id=10225

hey if I can get 20 people who DEFINATELY ie. NOT 'maybe', want one I could organize the GB myself (most likely) via importmonster .. they do charge a fee (and there's a 10% import duty and 10% GST also) but if we can get 20 people, their commision and shipping would come out much cheaper but I'd still expect it close to $250 for a bezel (brushed silver) and the chrome rings - no white dials (if you want dials, they're extra) Let me know if you're interested Edit: or if we can get 10 definatlies, it'd come to approx. $280 for the bezel + rings.

R34 Gtt How Much Boost Can I Run With The Stock Turbo
Wacky Dee replied to iridium's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I think the general rule is, if you go over 12psi you WILL blow the factory turbo. I have a tuned ecu and run it a 11.5psi using an egreddy EBC -
http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Br...ls-t115339.html Unfortunately that GB ended like 2 years ago ... I reckon we should try and get it going again Pure porn those dashes ...
-
yeah well you had the wrong offset then (iirc the stock rims are 17x7.5 +38) .. doesn't matter if it fits or not, the car has a certain track and suspension and steering geometry specification. If you use the wrong offset, you can do some damage plus shit like different turning radius, extra force on wheel bearings etc Having said that, why bother with 17's ? If you're going aftermarket rims might as well get 18"
-
I'm assuming the 'hair line finish' is actually the 'brushed silver' .. cause that sort of makes sense. But I'm not sure what the chrome rings are ... the "plating finish" ? Plating refers to a thing layer of some precious metal so I assume that's it? Ugh this is so annoying. Wish they had a proper english web site.
