yeah and it's not just about how much space you have to fit the rim under the guard .. it affects the car in other ways too
-
search the forums for DTM rims, there's a place in Melbourne that sells them and ships nationwide... They're pretty cheap but look great ona R34 and they're great quality rims. I'd recommend something with deep dish if you can find it .. they just look awesome. Also, don't make the mistake that I did and get the same width front and rear. Rears can definately be 9.5" for that nice fat look and still borderline legal. ie. 18x8.5" front and 18x9.5" rear with +35 offsets for a R34 GTT. Make sure you get the right offset, don't just buy random rims with the wrong offsets - the offset IS important. +35 works well and is very close to spec for the above sizes.

I have actually worked out how to navigate the cyberstork.com web site and get to the parts list, but they've got so many different options I've no idea which one was actually used in this GB ?? Is it the a) Meter bezel hair line finish(silver) b) Meter bezel plating finish(silver) c) Meter bezel specular finish(silver) d) Meter ring hair line finish(silver) e) Meter ring plating finish(silver) ..or a combination there of? Does anyone know if they ship to Australia directly? Url for a (series 1) R34 GT-T: http://www.excite-webtl.jp/world/english/w...EN&wb_dis=2

2 years later ... Any chance of running this GB again? I'm sure there a ton of people who missed out first time around who'd love to get this stuff

Loud Pop In Exhaust .. Misfire Or ?
Wacky Dee replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
after the 'fix' I mentioned above they did dyno the car and the AFRs were fine and the performance was the same as after the ecu remap (about 190rwkw) What can cause AFRs to change ? -
Loud Pop In Exhaust .. Misfire Or ?
Wacky Dee replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah but the car's already been tuned .. ecu remap ($450) and I've only noticed this started happening lately. A possible related issue .. about 3 months ago I noticed my fuel usage go up about 20% so I took it to Unigroup who said the engine was knocking slightly. This was a couple of months adter ecu remap (there was no knocking after remap) and Unigroup said that the increased fuel consumption was due to the ecu running richer to stop the knocking which may have been caused by a batch of bad fuel. They fixed it apparently... not sure how, because the ECU is not programmable (it was remapped by another tuner). I'm pretty sure this loud banging started some time after Unigroup fixed the knocking Any ideas? -
Stock everything except, turbo back exhaust, EBC (12psi) and remapped factory ECU with safe tune (11.5 AFRs iirc) and new spark plugs gapped at 1mm (lower gaps caused constant misfire at idle) Anyway, when I gun it to 4500rpm or so (usually don't go higher than that) there's a loud pop at gear change or as I take foot off the throttle as I'm about to shift. It sounds like it's coming from the exhaust. What could this be ? Is this misfire or unburnt fule being dumped into exhaust and what would cause that .. or something else ? By the way, when I got my ECU remapped the timing was slightly off 17 degrees instead of 15 (IIRC) and the tuner only found out AFTER the ecu was remapped and said to leave it as-is now. What sort of effect would this have in general .. less power ? more fuel usage?

Shitty Series 1 R34 Interior Plastic Paint
Wacky Dee replied to 666DAN's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
has anyone done this on a r34 with the popup screen? What extra steps are involved if anyone knows ??? Also does anyone know a good shadow silver/charcoal paint colour? I don't wanna do it up in black so as to leave a bit of contrast (like the original) Oh and does anyone know if you can replace the led/light inside the radio/AC Unit ? my dash leds are blue and the radio/ac are green so I'd like to change these to blue as well when I take all of it out Jack, any chance of taking a couple of piccies of your mates interior now with all of it back in place? Good work by the way, wish I had mates like you Cheers -

New Paint Job Finally Finished!
Wacky Dee replied to johnbarry88's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
personally my favorite factory colour is the bayside blue followed by black and midnight purple .. that light blue or whatever it is, looks like something you'd see on a base model mazda3.. I don't know ..maybe it looks better in person .. atleast it will be original on a skyline. Can you post some more pics when the lights etc are back on? -
JSAI (jsai.com.au) has the top secret for GTT and was meant to have the Z-tune GTR copy for GTT also. Having said that, GTT will never look like a GTR at the front unless you do the whole conversion ie. you will need a GTR bonnet and brackets (exxy from Nissan), the nose thingy that bridges the gap between bonnet and frontbar

sorry to spoil the party, that colour doesn't do it for me .. too boring. If I had the money for a respray it'd either be that midnight purple or back to brrrraaaacckk.. -
Bilsteins On A R34 Gtt With Stock Springs?
Wacky Dee replied to nuffsaid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I wouldn't order from the Bilstein GB .. people have been waiting for 4-5 months and more. I waited more than 3 months and got lucky by pestering them regularly.. Just goto Heasman's if you want Bilsteins, they're the australian importers anyway. -
the interior is looking a bit dated and the greyish middle section (starting around the handbrake and going up to the guages/TV screen) looks very ordinary so I remembered reading that people do paint these I'd like to get it painted in black (maybe glossy) to spice up the interior look. Is there anyone in Sydney who does this ? I'd like to have it done properly ie. strip factory grey paint and repaint in glossy black or perhaps even shadow silver (but not the shitty factory grey) and without introducing any rattles in the dash

Aftermarket Brushed Ss Dash Insert
Wacky Dee replied to SysLink67's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
wow I was just asking about these where to buy them in another thread .. Do these fit R34 GTT ? If so I'll take one ! If not, can you please tell me where you got it from ??? -
I recently saw a 34 with a silver insert inside the main cluster .. looked kinda funky and looks nice if you also have silver pedals. I think the guy said he got them in Japan and I haven't seen these around anywhere .. Does anyone sell these things? Just to clarify .. this is for a R34 (GTT) guage cluster (ie. behind the steering wheel) - it's just a silver insert/plate that goes around the guages
-
hey mate are those rear pods and sideskirts the z-tune style ones from JSAI?
-
looks silly imho .. anything bigger than 19" on a skyline
-
lol ok ... bear in mind I drive around the city only so there's not any grime and other big crap on the car - occasional bird crap is the worst thing that hits the paint, otherwise it's just normal dust and rain. I take it to a self service car wash and hose it down with higher pressure hose for 3-4 minutes entirely. Then I fill a bucket with water and Megquires gold, rinse out the $30 woolen glove and make sure it doesn't have any crap stuck in it. While the car is still wet, generously apply the shampood water from bucket using the woolen glove thingy .. and gently scrub, top to bottom, hosing down 3 times inbetween before any panel dries. Then after, rinse with water using the highpressure hose. Then leather it down with a clean chamois. No I never use those brushes at the carwash places and I always rinse out my own woolen glove thingy before I use it and during use I check if there is any crap in it. There you go

love those wheels Bakes .. what are they?? look very exxy

from looking at all the r34 gtt wingless pics on SAU I wasn't a big fan BUT then I saw a black 34 without a wing the other day as I was driving and it looked bloody awesome. Now i'm thinking of getting rid of mine as an experiment but it'll have to wait until I put a bodykit on it frist (probably the ztune from JSAI) as the phatter look with the bodykit would go better with no wing, otherwise it might look a bit weird IMO. Oh and for practicality reasons, the GTT wing is a bloody PITA as it blocks rear view too much (can never tell if it;s a copper behind me or just a standard corolla)

My black 34 used to have fine swirls ALL OVER the car and I had it detailed by Dr Detail (cost about $400 iirc + 80 for interior wash). He did a 'pretty good' job of removing the swirls BUT .. he mentioned many other detailers will fill the swirls with product, which after a few washes will become visible again. Well guess what? After a few months and a few washes 30-40% of the swirls are back. Also after he finished I found a lot of spots he missed completely like around the door frames/weathershields. Also he didn't seem to put any effort into detailing around the badges, rear lights etc in those hard to reach places where you just can't use the big orbital polisher. Also the interior wash for $80 which was supposed to make my seats and roof look like new (they weren't THAT dirty to start with) didn't really do anything other than make the seats wet for 3 days so that was a complete waste of time. Overall, I rate the job 6/10. Maybe if the car didn't have that many swirls/scratches to begin with he would have done a better job but as it is, if you're looking for a REALLY good detailer I'd give someone else a try especially considering the premium this bloke charges.

oh and a quick word of warning .. don't cheap out and get generic bulbs. Get the more expensive, branded ones. I intiially put the cheapies in and they blew withina few days. The branded ones have been fine for months already. The price diff is only $3 vs $8 or something like that.
