Thanks mate, it took me a whole fricken day but then I'm kinda slow when working around the carand take my time. Plus I had major issues with getting the lenses off and then having to restore their shape as they warped during the heating/removal. Then the siliconing mess ... then the cleanup. Messy job and hard to get the shade you want with 'VHT Night-Shades' as the dodgy spray can is dodgy. Doesn't matter if you shake it for 10 mins it still sprays unevenly and then you have to do another layer to even it up. That's why mine turned out so dark. Doesn't bother me that much though .. I still have the stock tail lights and can go back to them if I ever get bored of these.

yes stupid illitiraty op shoud be hanged ITS KALENDER

no oil change in several years ?? It doesn't matter if the car hasn't been driven you need to change that oil BEFORE you drive the car not when you get around to it. That should be your #1 priority. It doesn't have to be any fancy oil ie. you can do an oil and filter change for < $50. Seeing as how it's an old R31 there could be a million reasons as to why its using up so much fuel. For all you know you could have a family of (now dead) possums in the muffler if the car's been sitting in the yard for 2 years. But my bet would be on a stuck brake if it's been under a handbrake for 2+ years. My recommendation, sell the car as-is and get whatever you can for it and get something a bit nicer/safer that's been maintained. You will save money that way I'm sure of it.

put some LEDs in the dash cluster ... easy 8-10rwkw for < $50 On a more serious note .. if you don't want to spend much, start saving up for a new timing belt and water pump (major service) and do those first unless they've been done already. Oh and put some good oil in the engine and gearbox. Performance mod? Get a high flow panel filter... the stockies are usually quite restrictive.

couple of tips ... 1) there's a WTB section on this forum .. you've posted this in the wrong section 2) Why auto? If you can't drive manual, I suggest you learn now ... manual skyline is where the fun's at 3) if you're getting a car with near to 100k make sure it has had its major service done ie. timing belt/water pump etc as this can cost $1-1.5k HTH

what do you have ? I need atleast $15k my way in any trades though so looking for a decent nick rolla or camry

in all fairness I reckon you should do group shots only for a calendar ie. texi, cruise etc photos with lots of member cars .. I'd hate to stare at some other dudes car for a full month It should be about the club. I remember seeing quite a few good shots from the recent texi where you could see tons of cars eg. the one where everyone was lined up for the 1st afternoon run
-
what the hell when did you smash the mx5 ? after the texi ?? Sorry to hear Anna .. hope the insurance doesn't stuff you around for too long and that everyone came out of it in one piece
-
not because its mah baby but because the photography is spectacular ;d I have high res shots .. the 2nd one is my wallpaper heh

whats the big deal with the nismo setup? Other than using stock lenses there's nothing special about it .. I hate that star shape, it actually looks worse than these cheap copies.. I'm sure the one Dan's making will/does look better IRL than the Nismo star shape..

Ok here's a few piccies I just took .. the car's very dirty I know Preparing it for a detailed clean but the weather turned crapola.. anyway. With lights off: Lights on: Brake on: Turned out probably twice as dark as originally planned but you can still see the lights and brake lights clearly so it's not unsafe. edit: the "lights off" first 2 photos I think I may have had the lights on actually ..not sure now hmm. Will take some better pics anyway soon once the car is detailed.

already done ..seriously, what a c**t of a job that was ...wasted all day. All siliconed up now and drying so maybe some pics tommorow... turned out a bit darker than planned but still looks better than before. Might still spray the reflectors (the little circles on the outter big lenses) as they kinda look ghey due to their small size and lighter colour now
-
doing it now ... holy fkn crap what a PITA of a job especially getting those lenses off using a heatgun. I've got so many burns on my hands its not funny
-
bad tune is bad or bad dyno, either way I'd take it to someone else for a look .. if you're in Sydney goto unigroup engineering.
-
bummer .. maybe you guys should organize one texi a month I reckon you'd still get a good turnout and with only say 15-20 cars on track you get moar time to burn that rubber ;D
-
good photos ..theres even one of me punishing the cone on my first run Matt thanks but that looks like dorifto ..not really my thing tbh, I much prefer the setup sau had
-
does anyone know of any upcoming skidpan days organized by any other car club or been to one? I don't care what car club it is .. I'd just love to give it another go before the car sells
-
I'm gonna give that a try today unless the weather turns shit ... gotta do an oil change so i'll remove one of the EB tail lights and try to open the lense up with a heatgun. And I totally agree about the stock lenses looking much better than any of the aftermarket ones.
-
not much ..can't remember exactly how much but probably < $50 Dan666 here sells them so PM him or search for his sale thread..

the oem housing wont fit over the EB leds I dont think .. just look at the size of the blinker circle on the oem and EB housings, the EB one is half the diameter.. As for taking away the chrome ..has anyone done this with the EB led lights ?? I'm thinking spraying the external housing with tint won't have the desired effect just make a little less obvious. To do it properly would probably need to open them up and spray the actual chrome reflectors. Why they put those tardy chrome reflectors in there I will never know.
-
in relation to the block drain bolt .. from what I remember reading it's on the RHS of the block somewhere near the exhaust manifold.. But anyway, with all the heat/cool cycles over 10+ years I'm sure this mofo bolt has become very rusted on part of the block so I'm not sure unscrewing it for the first time since it was put there in the factory would be the smartest thing to do. ie. what if it breaks? Which is possible considering its probably never been touched before and is rusted onto the block. I'm starting to think that maybe there is some sort of suction device with a long thin hose that you can feed into the block to "vaccum" all the old coolant out ..

the east bear leds wont fit in the stock housing .. the indicator circle for example on the EB tail lights is much smaller diameter. The EB leds look good, just need to paint the indicator centre with amber plastic paint AND possibly the whole housing with some black spray/tint to remove some of the bling.. They're just too friggin reflective as they have the chrome reflector inside. I was thinking of opening mine up with a heatgun eventually and spraying the chrome reflectors with some black sparay (not solid black paint ..see through)
