  1. A mate and I imported V35s at the same time. When he got his licensed the dpi person said to just add up FOB price + customs + compliance and to disregard shipping. When I licenced mine, I put my market value as my total costs minus Brissie - Perth freight and broker's fee and the person behind the desk challenged my declared market value and printed out a Redbook valuation (which at the time was significantly over inflated). She called her boss over, he said if I've declared it they have to accept my declaration and if they choose to review it at a later date I'd get a letter. That was 4 months ago so I think I'm safe. I didn't try to scam anyone, I just put down my total costs assuming that anyone could import the equivalent for the same price. So my advice is to put your landed and complied price as your market value and take your receipts as proof.
  2. Hi Chris - does that mean my 2001 HV35 300GT doesn't have a transponder key and I can just get a Nissan key that fits cut without worrying about the PIN Code (which I can't get anyway as the serial number isn't on the BCM)? Thanks Mark
  3. Well - I just heard back from Nissan Japan. Even though they couldn't help me their customer service is impressive! "Thank you for your email dated November 12, 2008, concerning your Nissan Skyline. First of all, we appreciate your patronage of our products. With regard to your inquiry, we regret to inform you that there is no BCM number in the photo you sent to us, and that vehicles manufactured after 2001 have no BCM label on them. In that case, the only way to get PIN code is to read the BCM code by “CONSULT” that Nissan dealers have. Please note that the “CONSULT” available in Australia may not be able to read the BCM code since your Skyline is a Japanese specification model. Your understanding would be much appreciated." Hmmm. Most here have said that Nissan dealers here can't help much. Am I destined to have one key forever? Any ideas? Thanks Mark

  5. I'm with you! Had a look at my BCM but I'm stuffed if I can find a BCM code on it........ Any ideas???? Or if I just send every number on it to Nissan Japan will they figure out the rest? Thanks Mark
  6. Going back to the original question, yesterday I drove an M35 VQ25DET immediately after driving a V35 Coupe VQ35DE, both in 5spd auto. Even though the M35 weighs 200kg+ more, its response and low down torque made it a more exciting drive for my tastes - (though the Coupe wins in the looks department). The M35 has a mountain of torque just off idle which you can feel tapering as revs rise whilst the V35 becomes more exciting as revs rise. My wife has a V35 300GT which feels significantly slower than both. So the M35 "feels" the fastest because of the monster torque from 1500rpm - almost like an old school V8 but much smoother.
