  1. Yeah might be an option on slicks!
  2. You are spot on with the size of the turbo, Im confident though that there is a 56 in the car on high boost, it does take a bit of work keeping that montser on boost through the tighter sections!
  3. I thought that might come up. One is flash tuned with semi's [Evo] The other one has Alcons, Nismo 1.5 way Diff, T04z, OS giken gearset, Ohlins coilovers, fully forged bottom end etc. The car was putting out around 330 awkw low boost on that day with a crack in an intercooler hose and a very bad alignment. We will be using all 420awkw on the 11th of feb though and should see those times tumble! The above 32 Gtr will decimate the almost stock Evo when its running more boost and a decent alignment, however the cost of mods on that car alone is far more than the purchase price of an Evo IX or R34 GTR.
  4. You will love the GT-R. I had a white R34 GTR with black TE37's, tein coilovers, cat back. It was a beautiful car to look at and drive on the street. stupidly low though! I thought i needed a 4dr so i bought an evo IX, flash tuned it, bought a spare set of rims/semis. So i have experience with both Nismoid is right when he says the Evo is a better track car dollar for dollar spent. Not taking anything away from Mark Berrys amazing car though. The Evo is also alot cheaper to track than a gtr. My GTR used to get hot very quickly, the evo on the other hand could do countless laps in qld heat. The tyres give up before the Evo raises a sweat. The GTR's with massive power are more fun to drive on a track than the Evo, but you need to spend the purchase price again on mods to make them that fun. Also i have yet to see an Evo blow up on the circuit [not saying it doesnt happen] but i have lost count of the amount of RB26's grenading themselves. That was my one concern with the 34, i always worried about it shitting itself, the Evo i have alot more confidence in with regard to reliability. The head should say Evo, the heart will always say GT-R! Looks like you have gone with the Heart! You wont regret it, but be sure to give way on the track to everyone that used their head!
  5. Its just a forged 26, The 32 is my best mates and was only recently acquired from another friend who invested the big dollars into the car. I shift at about 8k on the circuit [which is hard in the lower gears], im not sure what the redline cutout is. I have seen the car spin nearly 9k without the revlimiter cut-out so i imagine it is @9k. from memory the rear housing is .84. not 100% though will find out. It might be a completely different application to yours, but i think that 7k will still prove to be too low in the lower gears.
  6. I drive a built 32 gtr with a T04z on the circuit and i dont think the car will be any fun at all with a 7k redline. Honestly your power ban and redline will come together like cousins at a tasmanian family reunion! You need to be able to rev it til at least 8000-8500 to really make it somewhat responsive!
  7. Nice one, 11.1 is pretty impressive.. Not sure if i would of gone 19's on a 32 but im sure it looks the part. Glad someone is enjoying the car!
  8. So its lives on the gold coast!?! What could be better than the 34 gtr rims i put on?? Hopefully CE28n's! Is it still on the original motor? that thing was a freak for near standard, put out 270awkw when i had it. I owned it for about 2 years and it was super reliable and an all round great car. Would love to hear more about it!
  9. I can see where your coming from, We will do a few at lakeside aswell. A good day out with mates at a not so brilliant track is still better than a great day at work though! Hence QR is alright by me! Noise restrictions also stop the GTR coming out at lakeside. We will take the Evo though. See you @ Lakeside then sometime!
  10. Thread revival! Anyone else looking forward to next year! To be honest i only ever do timeattack, but in 2010 i think the saturday afternoon sprints every now and then will definately be on the cards.. Who else is having a steer from here and what do you drive?
  11. Anyone Seen GDZ11 lately!?!?! I used to own this car and wouldnt mind it back again.....
  12. Yeah he mentioned that was the way to go. Thanks again for your advice on the tyre pressures. They were spot on. The Evo performed really well. Sorry you guys werent out there..
  13. Mark, Thanks again for your help at Timeattack on Tuesday replacing the power steering belt on the GTR. We really appreciated your efforts and will sort the Harmonic balancer issue out before the next meet. Looking forward to catching up then, we definately owe you a beer or 5! and good luck with the arrival of the Mr or Miss Berry jnrs! Speak soon... Ben.
  14. Is there a link to the Video anywhere yet? Just had a flick through youtube and couldnt see anything.
  15. I just printed off the Natsoft results, Thats a pretty considerable margin the guys have over some very serious cars. Well done...
  16. Is that you Marty!?!?!
  17. Digging it up once again. Anyone got any more feedback!?!? I have just ordered a set of mediums for the Evo, looking forward to comparing them to the times i was getting on the SR2 RE55s.
  18. Just had a look... Very nice mate, Its funny i had it in my head that it was the black 32 in the Avatar. I think i have seen your 33 before. Cant wait to see it back out there!
  19. What a nice round figure... 600hp! thats brilliant. Sounds like quite a machine. Cant wait to see it. I will check out your build now. Yeah definately have to catch up next time you get up to QR. Not sure when Paul is having his first day up there but whenever it is, we will be there. Hope you get time to finish the GTR off so its ready.
  20. My pleasure mate.. Its good to get an idea of how long a car like Matts can last, as Vincent and I are going halves in the next build [in 2 years i hope!] It is Trev's old car, my best mate Vincent bought the car off Trev a couple of months ago. He has been enjoying driving my Evo and as such i am driving the GTR. It is a credit to trev, all the mods are really well thought out. It is twice the car that my R34 GTR was. I have had a pretty good run with my GTR's but some friends have had some horror stories, part of the reason i bought an Evo for track was i never hear of them blowing up. They lack the sort of excitement that the GTR has though. Eventually we will go halves in a track only r34 gtr, but that is realistically 2 years away. I have even looked through carsales in the past few weeks to try and find a nice built 32, but nothing really stands out and how do you really know if its been built correctly or if its half shagged from abuse!?! nothing stacks up so it makes more sense just to go halves in running "gtr god" The beauty of Trev's car is that we know him, exactly what work has been done, who has done it and how Trev has driven the car. It really is a rare find. Cant wait to see your car in action next year, Will be nice to see some more GTR's up there again. Its something i look forward to every month What sort of power are you putting out? A pic from the Nismo Timeattack day- Coldish tyres!
  21. I agree with you, twins would be alot more appropriate for the circuit. There is no plan/budget to revert back to them though at this stage. We will just have to make the most out of the single. First time out in the gtr @ the timeattack nissan day we did a 58.2 sprint and 1:01.1 clubman with really low boost 1.1-1.2 bar [about 350awkw] and a poorly setup alignment. It would always/easily be half a second quicker if it had the responce of twins, no doubt. Having said that, if its good for 58.2 down on power and with a poor suspension setup, there is definately a 56 in the car with the right conditions. I will have a crack in November and see if i can get in the 56's. The alignment will be sorted and if its not too hot it should put out 420awkw. Well done on Matts car, it must be a very very well built engine to survive that sort of punishment. Hope to see your car out there next year! What sort of setup/output do you think you will need to get in the 55's? There are a few cars coming back next year, should be a good season...
  22. Well 1 track day down, 2 to go this year.. We took some advise and added some vp109 to the 98 octane. We added 20lt to the tank to fill it up. The car ran very very well the only problem had was one of the intercooler pipes [the only non silicon hose] developed a split that opened up more as the day progressed, resulting in lower power than we hoped. It was only running 1.1 bar on sprint circuit as opposed to 1.3 [low]. R31 Nismoid, we only ran low boost on the 6th which was a good way of getting to know the car but next time [without a split hose] we will run all 420awkw, which i imagine will bring our times down significantly. So in short yeah it would be silly not to use its full output especially with some race fuel in the equation.
  23. Hope the wedding goes well mate. The Evo is a brilliant car, very std at the moment. But none the less very capable. The GTR is a handful, but brilliantly fun. We ran low boost and even lower boost due to a small crack in an intercooler pipe and still did a 58.2 on sprint first time out in it. We will be running high boost on the 24th so hope for some significantly better times again. Hope to see you up there soon mate.
  24. Mate!!!! off topic! what i really wanted to know was.... What was it like having a steer of mark berry's r34!?!?!?!?! I would love to drive that machine!!
  25. Yeah mate will definately check for you. As harry said there is nothing carved in stone for dates yet. Will definately keep an eye on things and let you know the calender for early next year soon. cheers
