  3. hi all, hope you had a good easter. as some of you know i do abit of mechanical work on the side. im looking at doing this properly as a part time buisness aswell as continuing my regular job and just looking for advice from those who have done similar, good accountant to use,what to look out for, possible dramas, peoples opinions and recommendations. rob.
  4. i would strat looking for a new mechanic, mate. though with a high flowed turbo if you run standard boost you will make standard power with some more lag.

  11. mate, you had camber bushes installed in the rear and it came back with more +tive on the rear, should of had 0.75 less.WTF? i installed whiteline adj upper arms ($300, nice with urethaine bushings) and a $70 4 wheel align. now have +0.48 LHR and +0.51 RHR.
  12. the one im looking at does auto trans, ABS, airbag and stuff like knock sensor output, AFM voltage, occilascope (spelling) for individual coils. it has the builtin softwear for 32-34gtr's. i will also ask if it caters for ATESSA.

  14. nope, only factory ecus, bcms, trans computers and the like. as far as i know, any laptop with the correct softwear will access aftermarket ecu's.
  15. im thinking of buying a plug in diagnostic scanner that will do all local shit and and all imports till current! these things arnt cheap but they do awsome stuff, graph every sensor output, data log as you drive to gain a snap shot of faults that happen irregularly and a whole heap of other gear. whats everyones thoughts on me purchasing such a device? im a qualified mechanic by day, just looking for abit of wkend/after hours work to do in addition to doing timing belts and the like.

  18. hi mate, make sure you have your full VIN stamped on the RH shock tower or some other place. the workshop next door will be happy to empty your wallet by $50 to stamp afew numbers.

  23. mate, sounds like your mate damaged a gasket when doing the plenum stuff, if it leaks vac at idle you will be lossing boost and power up top. if you remove the cam belt cover and look down in there you should be able to see if the water pump ins new and shiney.

  25. hi all, im a heavy diesel mechanic by trade and was thinking about doing some weekend work from home such as cam belts, fitment of trans coolers, fitting of coilovers and various stuff like that. my questions are what do you all think is fair to charge for the above and does anyone need any of the above done? i spend my days working on 27ltr twin turbo V12s and obviosly change my own cam belts and the like. any thoughts???
