Hi all, been lurking for a couple of days so I thought I'd write a quick greeting and ask a question at the same time.
I am going to pick up a '95 R33 tomorrow, in a private sale. I've done the REVS check and it's all clear, but the certificate they give you only protects you from finance companies, it doesn't protect you from buying a stolen vehicle. So I was just wondering, is there any way to be guaranteed that you're not buying a stolen vehicle?
I'm almost certain that it's not stolen, because they guy who's selling it knows all the ins and outs of the car including a high-tech alarm/security system, but I just wanted to be absolutely sure one way or the other. I've only bought expensive cars from dealers before so I guess you could say it's my paranoia getting the better of me a bit. What I'm worried about really is that it's some elaborate scam which they've practiced really well. I know it's not likely, but as I said, my paranoia is showing through
Can anyone give me any advice? Or should I just trust the RTA and REVS reports that it's not stolen, and make sure the receipt is done properly so that I have written proof that it was bought legitimately?
Thanks in advance,
Jim.
