I'm pretty sure you don't need to lube any suspension bushes in the Skyline. You just replace them when they wear out (start leaking). As already said, urethane bushes are the way to go either when they need replacing, or when you want to upgrade your suspensioni.

What happened to MINES_DATSUN's thread?
JimX replied to JimX's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
It would have been preferable to have it closed rather than deleted, I don't suppose an admin can resurrect it and just close it. The bad thing about it being deleted is now people will either forget what a knob he is or new users will just not know about his "accidents", and start giving him credibility again. Not to mention start giving him praise over the purchase of his new GTR unaware that he's incapable of driving either 4WD or RWD. Somehow that thread needs to be remembered. And if he changes his name, we need to be aware of it. I for one am sick of wanktards like him giving out stupid advice and opinions when they have no clue themselves about anything (eg, "GTS-t is not powerful enough, GTR all the way!" "Mobil 1 is the best fuel" "Why are you driving a Maxima?" etc) I do not like flaming people as a general rule but this guy goes beyond the pale. He knows nothing about cars but pretends to know everything, can't drive, can't write constructive forum posts... so why is he even here? At worst he should stick to lurking, at best he should just bugger off altogether. -
The final results are that it's in and working - on zero degrees The reason being that when I tried -3 and -4 degrees, I got a noticable drop in power. I also got the maximum injector warning on my PowerFC hand controller, so it could just be because I don't have enough fuel for the extra power. But it also could just be that the timing is so adversely affected that I'm just maxing out the injectors and losing power at the same time. So I put it back to zero degrees and it now awaits a tune. I am waiting for my Z32 AFM to arrive from Germany, and I will then put that in along with my 550cc injectors, and then get the workshop to set the gear to whatever works best. If it ends up on 0 degrees, I will remove it and put the factory one back in and sell the adjustable one.
-
R31Nismoid and Rob77, his info says he has an R32. That would mean his injectors are 270cc, not 370.
-
Even if they have are modified factory gears they should still put the markings on.
-
Robo's, what brand is your gear? It seems to be very bloody dodgy if it has no markings on it. I would advise anyone else to stay away from that brand!

Me too (as in pm who they are)

$1100 for 2 shocks? wtf? oh yeah you went to pedders
-
A pair of standard shocks is what, $100? The time and effort to extract the money from a dealer in another state won't be worth the effort. The best thing you can do is name names (via PM of course!) so that none of us go to that dealer. That way he'll suffer more than the $100 it would have cost him to fix it.

What, you took your car to England to dyno it on the exact same dyno that IanH did? That shows real dedication!

Rear End Half Cut For R33 GTR ?
JimX replied to MINES_DATSUN's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Fark me. Until now I had a tiny bit of respect for you because you seemed intent on driving a Gemini after this. But less than 24 hours after the accident which should have taught you the lesson of your life you're going straight back to where you came from. You are an absolute twat. If there was an organisation I could donate money to to keep you off the streets they'd have $100 from me right now. -
The runners and mounting bolts for the motor often vibrate loose over time. Take your door trim off and nip them all up again. This is assuming the noise is the window itself rather than a relay like Sewid suggests.
-
I think that's a fairer summary of it. Anyone can be a wanker with the noise/sideways effects of their car whether it's bov exhaust or tyre noise. Personally I don't like attracting attention. If I am driving down a quiet street I keep the revs low and therefore the exhaust pod and bov noises to a minimum. I think it's more a case (as like so many things are in life) of not what you have, but how you use it
-
To everyone that thinks an audible atmo bov is just a "look at me" wank - do you hold the same theory about loud exhausts and pod filters? If anything a loud exhaust is more of a wank because you hear it constantly, not just between gear changes. Pods are still more often heard than bovs too.
-
That's another thing. Cops are allowed to talk on their mobile phone while driving. I guess because they are so much more skilled than us or something

That reminds me of my old Commodore which had a faulty lock mechanism. Whenever I hit a decent bump the boot lid would fly open. The lock seemed fine, although it only took a slight touch to release it, so I figured big bumps were enough make it open. I took the lock to a wrecker just to make sure I got the right one. He looked at it and said there was nothing wrong with it and I was wasting my money. I had to convince him to sell me one! $10 later and I bought it and fitted it and the problem never came back.
-
Nissan also say your car only outputs 185-206kw too. And they say the drain interval is 10000km I wouldn't use it unless my car were stock. As it is, I pay more for some better stuff and change it twice as often.
-
You should be able to see where the cable ends up at the latch. Get someone to move the release lever up and down from the driver's seat, and see if there is any tension on the cable. It could be snapped or accidentally unhooked from the latch. If it has stretched, you might be able to modify it to pull on the latch sooner rather than ripping the whole thing out and replacing it.

If you wanna be pedantic about it, the C's box actually says "Short stroke shift". But short shift or quick shift are equally acceptable terms for these items.

Cops can do whatever they like with or without lights. They just get into more trouble if they cause an accident without lights on. Sometimes it's necessary, for example to not alert a suspect that they are chasing. Don't bother complaining to anyone about cops speeding without lights on, it will get you nowhere because they are allowed to do it. One of the stupidest things I've seen a cop do though is bust a ride buddy of mine who had just passed a slow moving car over double lines in front of us. We were on bikes so this wasn't dangerous at all, although I don't do it myself. The cop was coming the other way and did a u-turn across the same double lines which was a LOT more dangerous than my mate's manoeuver. I and several cars had to brake heavily to avoid t-boning him. My mate copped the fine on the chin, but if he had contested it, I would have gone to court to say that the cop nearly caused a major accident in the process.
-
Yep I definitely agree with that. A (female) friend of mine once got pulled up for doing around 12kph over the limit and turned down the advances of the cop, BAD MOVE! Well, not a bad move at all coz the cop was a short ugly f-wit, but she paid the price for it. Long story short, she ended up with a total of 12 years disqualification after a string of offences. Now a lot of this was her own stupid fault, because she started driving around while disqualified and without rego at some points, but she never drove dangerously and never sped apart from that first offence. The reason she kept getting busted is because that cop and a few of his mates kept stalking her. They would wait in front of her house to see if she went to her car etc which she soon got wise to. But after that they would keep an eye out for her in her neighbourhood and they still found her and caught her repeatedly. It was total bollocks. Many court cases later she managed to get the suspension reduced to 2 years and she can now legally drive again and has all her 12 points back. But she has caused the cops such a headache in court (especially since most of her charges got overtured) that they will now think twice before they pull her over again. She is also planning on suing some of the cops in question for harrassing her like that. Once she panicked and got out of the car and ran, and ended up having a gun to her head. I think this is the cop she is mostly intent on suing. These cops are the kinds that you would punch in the face if they weren't cops.
-
I can sympathise with your first story, but I don't really understand how this one is unfair? Unless you are driving around without rego, in which case you deserve to be busted.
-
I have been pulled over for many RBT's and not once have the cops asked to pop my bonnet. I could have been lucky all this time, but I'm just saying it's not a 100% dead certainty that you will get defected just because you are at an RBT. They have a drink-driving quota to fill while there, so they are more interested in getting you in and out as quickly as possible. If the cops *did* pop my bonnet, they would most likely not find my bov anyway. It is pretty well hidden and you'd need some tools to disassemble bits of the engine bay to find it
-
If you can't find any leaks you could check the throttle position sensor. Also there is an idle screw adjustment in the back of the plenum which might need adjusting.
