Hmmmmm I don't know what to think, as the very same criticisms were leveled at GT4 for drift when it came out, and I admit I thought along the same lines as well. Oh, the countersteer is too touchy, it's too hard to drift smoothly blah blah. Now, after a solid 2 years playing the game, I can link entire tracks, smoothly. I'll admit, I haven't played GT5, but I think it might be a case of re-training yourself on how to slide, and once you do become acusstomed to the way it handles, it might be even better. After getting used to the way GT4 drifts, I couldn't imagine going back to earlier Gran Turismos. Up until GT4 they all felt too arcadey to me, way too 'Ridge Racer'. At least with GT4 you can't just hold it flat snap it to full lock and just hope for the best, it requires calculated and measured steering inputs and throttle control, something lacking from previous generations. The original GT was a joke to me, you could just throw the car into a corner and it'd oversteer slightly then grip up and understeer if you didn't have like 500hp, and if you did, it usually ended up facing the other way. GT2 was reasonably good, although the reactions to throttle control were pretty average. It seemed to do the same thing if you held it flat as it'd do if you feathered it. GT3 was like driving on ice, the car would slide for absolutely ages on full throttle, and was painfully slow on transitions. It felt like there was no connection between the tyres and the road surface, the cars were too floaty and they all handled pretty much the same. The upside to this is drifting on GT3 was so goddam easy, which I think is why many people love it. GT4 I reckon is the best so far. Throttle control and precise steering inputs are required to get smooth drifts happening, and the car feels like it's actually driving on a road. It will grip up when you hit a dip, you can get pretty fast transitions happening and you can manipulate tyre grip levels in much the same way you can in real life. Feather the throttle and it will exhibit some rear grip and tighten your line. Flick it sideways and slam on the brakes and you can get nice 4 wheel slide entries happening. Hold the handbrake on entry and extend it that little bit so you don't hit the apex too early. It all works pretty much the same as in real life, and different cars exhibit different handling traits too. An AE86 is very twitchy compared to a JZX100 for example. My one massive gripe with GT4 is the lack of LSD effect at slow speeds. As has been mentioned, you can light it up in 2nd at walking pace and it will just continue forward, and even if you turn it whilst going slow it will just go around in a cricle like an open wheeler. That is a huge let down to GT4, they should've taken note of Forza's LSD effect. Start roasting rubber in a RWD car with a LSD in Forza and watch it start crabbing on you *sorry for the big arse rant, I do love a good Gran Turismo drift session

Yeah it is not advisable to import fully modified cars (unless for race use only) as the compliance work is usually either too expensive (don't think the compliance shop will remove all those special parts for free ) or just plain too much hassle for compliance. If you want something you can register, look for something with only basic mods that can be easily returned to stock, as the car must be in factory specification (or the equivilent to it) to get compliance. If you want it purely as a track car (and I mean purely, as in the chassis can never be complied and therefore NEVER registered) then you've pretty much got free reign over what mods it has, although last I heard you need to own a CAMS L2S licence to import a race only vehicle.

If it's 2 door they need to recline or you need to re-rego as a 2 seater (take out rear seats/belts). If it's 4door you can have fixed back and it's all good. I found GTR seats to be pretty damn comfortable, whilst still giving decent support. They're no Bride or anything, but if it's a daily driver I reckon they'd be a hard choice to beat.

^^ I can't edit that for some reason? Anyway heres an updated one with pics R32 specific Supermade bootlip spoiler. In white atm, but needs paint touching up. $300 Vertex front bar. Reasonable condish apart from a few little bits that need bogging over. Matte black at present $80ish? 4door Type M rear pods. Excellent condish, in white. Dunno how much these are worth - they somewhat rare? 100 bucks? Universal Bride race seat, I believe it's a BRIX. Average condish, few tears, padding loose. Still a solid seat, great for a budget slider. $250 no rail. BBS mesh, 17 x 9 +20. Come with 60ish% Continentals, camber worn though. I believe 1 rim has had cracks repaired. $1500 - cheap for lightweight BBS'. Boot spoiler Front bar bits that need repairing (theres one on the other side too) Rear pods Bride Close up of rip This one shows rims and spoiler fitted

(will get pics) Universal Bride race seat, I believe it's a BRIX. Average condish, few tears, padding loose. Still a solid seat, great for a budget slider. $250 no rail. (again, pics coming) BBS mesh, 17 x 9 +20. Come with 60ish% Continentals, camber worn though. I believe 1 rim has had cracks repaired. $1500 - cheap for lightweight BBS'. Cheers for organising gzilla, I had fun
-
? If it's raining hills are more fun, gives you a good indication of those who can show restraint and those who can't. I sent ya a PM with a route suggestion. I'm about to head out so I'll talk to ya at the meet point, I may or may not be ferociously hungover
-
If you get a cruise route happening PM me I might come along. Make sure theres some hills in there though :P
-
Love the disclaimer. You guys planning to get a lil rowdy?
-
You saw my Chaser in Mannum that time and I reckon I've seen your 180 a few times up there. Me = 21.
-
For that sort of money I might as well bring in a 2nd hand R32 one, they are only 140ish new on Greenline, at least then I could get it to fit without modding. I was hoping to pay around 100 bucks.
-
WTB: Bride super low bottom mount rail suit R32 (4door if it makes a difference) preferably cheap as possible (unemployment doesn't pay much these days )
-
Hahahah yep custom silencer moreso me just being lazy and didn't want to walk around holding it anymore And yeah it's a drift car.

Aye chaps and chapettes, I got some pics of my rig now so thought I'd chuck something up here. It's a R32 sedan, white with black roof. Tein coilovers Nismo camber arms unidentified adjustable castor rods hicas locked Nismo 2 way LSD Type M front brakes exhaust cooler remapped ECU roof spoiler aero mirror BBS 17 x 9 +20

with my Bride in it? No he couldn't hahaha. I hope you have fun with it mate, I'm having fun with your 32 :P

Cruise was meh. I left at Westlakes, couldn't find anyone I knew in the car park so just thought to hell with it. Fairly large turn out though, some nice cars.
-
I'ma be there, in the old car AND the new car
-
Cheers mate. Yes Chain of Ponds is definately for the win I don't expect the 32 to be as nice on the street, but on the track it should suffice as it has a few more drift-orientated mods than the Chaser did. I'll throw up some pics when I get it and clean it up a bit.

I've got a 32 hooked up, picking up tomorrow. My JZX100 was the shit, just an all round awesome car. Didn't have a huge mod list, but it just did everything that was asked of it so well. To give you an idea, I kept up with a 34 GTR through the hills with just an exhaust and some 17s with good tyres. I was 3 up as well This is my JZX100, swapped earlier this year for the JZX81. (and yes that's me giving the thumbs up in the photo ) This is my JZX81 (which is leaving tomorrow to make way for the 32) The 32 will be doing what the JZX100 is doing in that photo when I get another job

G'day ladies and gentlemen, new to the boards (although some may recognise the username from ns.com, jzx100.com etc) I am about to receive my first Skyrine  Swapping a f**king mental JZX81 track car for it as I lost my job and need to down grade. It's owned by a member of the board so I won't bother with full blown out intro of it, but it's a 32 4dr. I'll be out at Mallala doing skids in it when I get a source of income, but for now it's a lawn ornament (much like the JZX81 was) Might chuck up some updates as I customise it to my needs/driving style and slowly run it into the ground. Will mainly be here to pick brains about why it's not working or how to fix it when I brake it, I'll leave the random banter and shit-talking for NS and jzx100.com until next time
