  1. The R35 (road cars, driven to and from thew track) are doing 1:00's and 1:01's now http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....09/2010.WAKE.SS But that is on slicks (swapped out at the track). Anyone doing sub 60's on anything less than R's - would love to see / know how.

    R35 Power

I am constantly surprised at how good the R35 is; my car has just basic bolt-ons and an E85 tune. About 390awkw and the thing is docile as a Maxima. 10.7 @ 132mph, great circuit times too, yet anyone could drive it to the shops. It's an astonishingly versatile car. Cars with similar power can be total P!GS to live with. However, it's becoming clear GTR's are capable of much bigger numbers. Question is, how much is too much? 700awhp, 800, 1000? At what point do we start destroying the drivability of the car? With other cars i've had, i can isolate the point at which i crossed the line, the car stopped being fun, it became a chore to live with, and the gains on the track were not as linear as you would first imagine. Anyone with honest/frank thoughts on this? (for R35)
  3. i've used a few different lap timers, including the beacon style and GPS timers, over many many track days. nothing comes close to the GPS variety for convenience and analysis. looking at real-world results (dorian vs beacons vs GPS) for my money there is nothing in it (in terms of accruacy), maybe a tenth here and there). get a GPS timer, they are great. can't tell you how many times i've left a beacon at the track, or had one stolen.
  4. a postscript to our development with the mighty R35, we have now achieved a 1:00.8x at Wakefield. Incremental mods since we began are E85, coilovers and new slicks. With more setup and experience i reckon we would ultimately see 59.x's - and this is with a road rego car driven to and from the track (slicks swapped in and out of course).
  5. After nine rounds of the NSW sprint championships, Marek and I found ourselves lined up on the dummy grid on Sunday at Wakefield Park - for the final session of the last round - separated by a single point - and with the margin between us just 0.12 seconds (Marek faster) the winner of the last session would take the 2010 Outright, Type and Class Championships on the day. It really doesnt get much closer than this so the pressure was a little intense Both Marek and I have assisted each other during the development of our R35's throughout the year in various ways, and being mates too it was a pity one of us had to place 2nd. But there we were, last round, last session, and only 0.12s in it.... We both had a few dramas getting the new N1 Michelins installed, and i had some fuel system issues on the day too, nearly unable to compete on the day. Thanks to support from Greg (our trusty crewman), Martin from Willall, Mick from Corse and the Russo Brothers too, i was on the start line for the last session with Marek. At the end of the final session both Marek and i improved on our previous times, and then some. We've been pushing each other faster all year but I simply couldnt believe it when Greg told me i managed to pull off a 1:00.82 lap, good enough to slip in front and snatch the outright championship, setting a new lap record too. Running those times, nothing broken, swapping tyres and driving home, got to be pretty happy with how good the GTR has performed all year, what a great road/track car. BIG thanks to the following for their support during 2010: - Martin @ Willall Racing; crucial support with GTR advice, hardware and tuning - Russo Performance; help with various hardware upgrades - Wholesale Suspension: installation of JRZ coilovers and regular setup - Nissan: for making the quickest road car this side of $500k! Congrats to other GTR pilots Marek and Stuart for their 2nd and 3rd Outright results, well done guys. So.. Who's in next year?

    R35 Gt-r

Anyone know what the going rate for a track-only R35? anyone importing them? if so, let us know or PM me cheers
  8. It's a sickness! probably the same reason i am up at 4:30am for a track day. Btw, ever wonder what 120y owers wonder about your car... it's all relative... but essentially the same disease

    R35 Handling Mod

I can't speak about the anti-sways from cobb, but i have seen a couple of anti-sways installed on r35's - and they were mostly a waste of time. Get some grip first and see how transformed your car feels.

    R35 Handling Mod

For the track? get some great tyres, 270/68/18 slicks all round, and maybe some adjustable top arms or offset bushes, and a good alignment.

    R35 Build

ha ha, love it! the bucks on the floor, dats gangsta! booyah!
  12. I have some used Michelin S7 slicks for sale, they have done two days, so past their primse but perhaps good enough for practice days etc. Asking $100ea (they retail for $800ea in this soft compound) Sydney pickup only. Pics: http://www.forrestfamily.com.au/duncan/GTR/misc/tyres_1.jpg http://www.forrestfamily.com.au/duncan/GTR/misc/tyres_2.jpg edit: size might help! they are 27/68/18's, fit on 18x10's
  13. Ahh yes i remember.. ha ha.

    R35 Gt-r

perhaps pics are ADM but apparently $70k to $80k is the going rate (for a JDM import for race/rally/club rego) as Duncan says.

    E85 For R35

I would be interested to know what the new caltex pump e85 is supposed to be like The stuff at Rozelle (United, on pump) seems to have been pretty consistent for me over the last few months.
  20. So rotors have become 10mm bigger? hmm. Sounds like an 18" wheel option will be impossible now.. LC4 sounds interesting (4000rpm?) imagine how fast you can exit snow and mud now!
  21. Cheers for that, will try and look into those.
  22. Shock horror! a rim (other than Rota) fails? surely not! fwiw, a few people have told me about various rims cracking like yours. It happens. Just dont bother posting details, the keyboard eggsperts will delight in lecturing the how/why/wherefores, how and where you obviously went wrong, and thus how it could never happen to them. It's the first and last time i'll bother, that's for sure.

damn! intercooler looks twice the size!
  25. True but depends on tyres. For example any road tyre is a joke really, compared to decent track tyres.
