wow those nissan prices are criminal. Anyway i have been using Endless ccRg the last couple of track days; they seem to have the street manners of the mx72's but with more bite. They feel awesome. I think about $700 to $800 (for the fronts AND backs, yes total cost for four corners) No squeal yet. I think they work up to about 800*c so less fade too.

awesome. and yes, warranty IS for girls

Running 1:02's at Wakefield in a 1700kg leather laden road car, pulling in excess of 1.6 g's through the fish-hook is the best fun i've ever had with my pants on. It's freakin awesome. It drives me home in quiet comfort too, which is a huge bonus. I can take the rug rats to school too. There is NOTHING you can do on the street that comes close to the range of grin factor you get from such a track session. I really have no idea why anyone would buy a GTR for 100% street duties.

jeez i wish i had half of the spae some of you guys have!

I don't know answer; would like to know too. Personally i think the whole musibox thing is a PITA and i dont bother with it. It would have been great if we have a memory card slot and it could just play from there.

When you put a CD in, there should be a record button on the display. Press and then it will then rip the CD as you listen (store on HDD). Unfortunately i think you need to listen from start to finish (from track #1) for this to work. Thereafter you should have another source item for your audio system (called MUSICBOX) in addition to CD, AM, FM etc. I think the TA button is for other markets, doesnt do anything here in australia as far as i know.

Weather should be fine! Got some new stuff happening with my car, hoping for a new PB. Cyas there, and goodluck to all.

someone make an offer

Finally discovered these (for those that want alloy): They are about $100/set of 20, apparently locally manufactured using 7075 alloy. ZERO issues with these, they have been faultless. FWIW I tried those cheapie D1 nuts you see everywhere and they were no good after ONE wheel change, they stretched even at 108Nm. Junk.

it's just a way to trick the computer to raise the revs. next to nobody doing this cares about reaction times, just the ET/MPH.
-
they look great Mark, nice work.
-
wow that's awesome Mark. I was looking at your control arms this arvo actually.. you had better get a move on and get them off nathan otherwise they may disappear! they look a trick bit of gear. looking forward to the progress of your project edit: you are missing aero!

I agree the brake method is clumsy, as it the double pump. The USA guys seem to have ti perfected though. Also on another note; you could go to say justjap in sydney and with their consult 3 product, apply the latest tcm update with touch point recalibration (i did) and you actually get LC2 in your ADM for about $100.

250km/hr as indicated on the vbox data. No way i would get to 285km/hr at EC, even on 630mm OD tyres
-
Wow, i should have been on the new dunlops damn
-
Releasing the brakes momentarily tricks the system and the revs rise. You can ultimately launch with more revs = faster. Check out some of the USA drag racing videos, a few of them do it.

Well Superlap Clubsprint has been run and won (By Nick Kalis in his Evo) with myself runner up in the R35. A couple of weeks back i ran a 1:40.19 at EC with slicks and AM Wing installed, so it was a bit of a mystery how we would go with the Advan AD08 285/30/18's. I had high hopes but it was not to be unfortunately. I ended up running a 1:44.8 in practice on thursday, following up with a 1:45.00 on Friday, and was not able to get back to that time thereafter. So there you have it, slicks vs road tyres about five seconds defference! Not good enough and with Nick surprising everyone with a 1:44.3 he smashed us all. Congrats Nick. I would post up some video but it's just disgusting & messy, i would say even dangerous with such road tyres. Never again. Another issue with these tyres: they are a whopping 80mm shorter vs the stocker 20's, so whilst the 295/35's and 68 slicks work well, these ad08's at 630mm tall had "issues". Anyone thinking of running these on an R35 - don't bother (not that you ever would, except perhaps in such an event). VDC does not cope well with tyres less than 340mm tall it seems, and had to be turned off completely. Normally we would turn VDC off for a lap time, but i think it would have helped in such a low grip situation. Anyway excuses, excuses! Big thankyou to Prestige Morotsport / DRGTR.COM.AU for their sponsorship during this event. Special mention to Martin @ Willall who supported me (albeit remotely) during the three days of practice and both days of superlap. When i mentioned the tyre problem Martin had two new tunes sent out to me within 15 minutes (trying different power application techniques). Many thanks Martin, much appreciated. Also managed to fit Willall's new splitter the day before practice (see below) i will post up decent pics and install thread soon. This thing installs easily and is extremely robust and exceptional value. Unfortunately given the pathetic grip of the road tyres i was not really in a position to take advantage of any aero (i was not able to run my AM wing either, due to it being mounted on a carbon boot). On the last session (on the bridgestones) i got greedy and ran for a few more laps than i should have, this was the result: Overall it was a good experience, i think driving on road tyres has ultimately served as good training. I dont think i will be doing a road tyre event again in this car though; the car is capable of so much more, and it's much more fun on r's or slicks.

Looking to replace the stock bridgestone RFT's however they seem very exxy for what that are, what have people tried? Alternatives i can see are: R888's (perhaps not ideal for the street) Dunlop SP600 (difficult to source aftermarket atm) Bridgestone RE070 ($$$) Pirelli PZero (???) The pirelli is only $500/fronts and $600/rears it's not a RFT but has anyone tried these? They are apparently the same size (255/40/20 and 285/35/20) Any other suggestions? cheers

awesome photos, well done. post more!

Yes i was testing with the advans on thursday, ran a 44.8 but couldnt replicate that unfortunately. Not good enough for Nicks great 44.3 time anyway. Fark i hate street tyres! lol. I know of a couple of clubby cars (at least) that should have run quicker than they did. This sort of event is a lottery. I think three evo's expired on the third lap of first session each day, which stuffed up our optimal runs each time. Plus many others had to deal with traffic etc.
-
Evo's were mostly running advan ad08's the clubsprint winner ran 265's i think (pretty wide for them). I ran the same tyres but they just didnt work. Too short, vdc had to be disabled to even run in a straight line. I tried some shagged 20" bridgies but they were farked and ran even slower. In terms of a road legal tyre on the r35, you cannot beat a 295/35/18" RE55 i reckon (in terms of lap time) they would have been good for a 43 or maybe a 42 with my car as it is now. But even though they are road legal the clubsprint rules prohibit tyres with a wear rating greater than 100. For the casual track day junkie these would be the best compromise in terms of availability, grip, cost, performance. Just no good for superlap though. They are really a (road legal) r spec tyre anyway. Here's a pic, cooked my brakes!
-
yes definitely well done to Jacky, only a blink in it for 2nd, 3rd and 4th. long way back to 1st. it was my r35 in 2nd and i am full of excuses let me tell you... suffice to say the tires didnt work for me. i tried advan 285/30's which were too short (VDC didnt work at all) and also some shagged 20" bridgestones (even slower!). A new set of 20" dunlops would be faster but i dont think it would have bested Nick on the day somehow. Well done to Nick he improved his PB something like 2 seconds or so, amazing. It was a great event, a big shock coming from slicks to genuine road tyres i can tell you. well done to the evo boys i think they won every class?
-
agreed and indeed. how duplicitous some people are.
-
No - he was never in 2nd place, people are just looking at the wrong/last session times, not the aggregate / final results. Good effort nonetheless but evo's and gtr are in front.

Yes it is/was fine to run the dynamic wing at superlap. Personaly i didn't because it was all mounted on a carbon boot lid (which was not allowed for WTAC). I think Berry may have been running his aeromotions wing at superlap however. Anyway on a related note it was announced a week ago (at a State Supersprint round) that the AM Dynamc wing has been sanctioned LEGAL for SV cars in the NSW supersprints [yet again] despite schedule F etc. and despite the protests. I believe some are still complaining (not really about schedule F and what it means moreso on vehicle registration legalities now). If this is the game people want to play, i think we all know that many cars have technically illegal mods on their cars (even those writing the protests it seems..) so you will reap what you sow guys. I dont think it will be smart to open that can of worms, you will see protests fly left, right and centre which would be a shame.
