  1. Bit of thread mining, sorry. Can anyone confirm the MP3 capability of the 2009 ADM cars? Will it take a CD or DVD with raw MP3's on it? Or do i need to burn a regular audio CD? If regular CD only, how have you gone with burning CD's, some cars/audio systems want them burned in a specific way (slow burn rate) otherwise they dont work too well. Anyone?
  2. I've replaced mine about three times in a year! I do change them a bit because i drive the stocker wheels to the track. I do use a rattle gun but always torque wrench them too. I've tried the grease thing too, but i still seem to be chewing through them. Should i go steel or titanium i wonder?
  3. i've given up on the "cheap" alloy ones. need steel or titanium, anyone with links on where to buy? (unless someone can definitely vouch for a quality alloy item)
  4. I had to get some open wheel nuts (due to running longer studs) and i've been using ALLOY ones. I am not running then for weight saving (i just picked up what was readily available). Anyway i've tried a few different nuts but they all seem to have issues; the thread on the inside of the nut just seems to wear away. Until eventually i found the nut failed completely (when putting it on, thank god) it was just spinning on the stud! At a recent practice day someone running the same nuts actually lost a wheel on the track, scary. So my questions are 1. Have you guys noticed the same with alloy nuts? How often do you replace them. 2. What should we be running, steel, alloy, titanium? What are you guys running. If you are running some alloy ones, check them out, make sure the thread looks good. Replace them if they look dodgy! (replaced mine three times thus far).
  5. how does that carbon lip with integrated cooling work? is that it, just delivers air about a foot from the rotor? surely that doesnt work?
  6. great runs, love the way you attacked the dipper, straight in and through
  7. those hub dynos seem to read higher, same in this case. will be interesting to follow progress
  8. it depends on the trakc but i would say the slicks are good for a second around wakefield, 1.5 seconds on OP (RIP) and probably (up to) 2 seconds on EC. Just a guesstimate.
  9. A massive WELL DONE to Staurt Inwood smashing his own records this weekend at Bathurst, running in the esses and mountain straight (25.26 and 46.23). Well done man, that is a huge effort. I think Stuart also managed 4th outright which is insane considering the open wheeler classes (which were amazing to watch also). Now that i have run the event myself i can appreciate how difficult it is, on cold tyres and brakes no less. I have a lot to learn but can't wait to get back there for another shot. In some ways it's much more difficult than regular circuit racing i reckon. Any footage Stuart? Was also nice to catch up with a few of the supersprinters this weekend too Great event well organised too. I had a ball. Great weekend.
  10. I've replaced r35 rotors a few times (onto stocker hats). I think it's fair to say the clicking noise isnt related. Just IMO. Sounds a bit fanciful to me.
  11. At the end of the day there are just too many variables to give 100% accurate answer Roy. We have data for the same car, same (brand, size, compound) tyres and same day (aftermarket wing vs stocker). But they were different drivers and different state of wear on tyres. How can we do this to your satisfaction? We need same car, exact same condition tyres each run, same (consistent) driver, same ambient temps, same track temps, same car conditions (heat soak, fuel load, whathaveyou). As you can see it's impossible to give a 100% answer. I can tell you i have run these times though: + RE55's 1:05.3 (first run at wakefield in this car) + Michelin Slicks 1:04.00 + AM Wing 1:02.90 I think it's fair to say the wing works, for me. This is just my subjective evaluation. Just alike any one of thosands of posts on any number of forums where people say this and that works for them (exhausts, wheels, tyres, brakes, fuels, tuners, whatever).. I can't give you anything more really. I reckon the porka slicks (even 2nd hand) work well on the r35 yep!
  12. Roy, we're thinking too hard on this. All i know is this: i've seen / read about many USA cars making up to 0.5s to 1.0s per lap using this wing. Possibly other wings too, i have not done the research. If you can spend the equivilent of about two sets of tyres and (POSSIBLY) pick up 0.5 to 1.0s you would be mad not to try it (given apparent results). It's simple and innocent as that. This isnt much of a stretch beyond trying new tyres, or a new exhaust, dump pipe, cams, tune, wheels or whatever. But it seems to work, not just here but all over the world. Perhaps there is somethng in it, no? Just let it go. I have the data (gps+g meter) but to be frank i am too much of an amateur to construct any meaningful conclusion. We're just weekend warriors (barely). When i get back to sydney i will try and make up a chart for you.
  13. posting videos shouldn't be too much of a stretch; there is this website called youtube, perhaps check it out. might be too much technology though. original poster WAS able to source r35 stocker wing + wakefield vs r35 aeromotions gps lateral g data. i am not about to share it atm though. your comments on the OEM/factory setup vs track day warrior desired setup shows how much you understand about what us idiotic trackday junkies need (yes it's insane, and farking a lot of fun). oh hang on, maybe the factory setup (for any car) is actually a no compromise track setup (ffs). dunno why i bother. anyway, about to pass out, just arrived in bathurst for two days of bathurst track fun. try it sometime. peace out!
  14. i am neither rich, nor a kid. i bought the r35 because it's a track focused car. literally the quickest thing this side of $450k (road car). A spectacular achievement from nissan. i've done 17 track days since i bought the thing; the few people i know who own one bought them for the same reason (and actually track their cars regularly). ffs what wrong with some people. why all the farking hate bs?
  15. I initially wanted to put in some bracing for the wing, however given the AM mounts didnt come with enough bolt thread there was not enough meat to clear bracing as well. So i was forced to go without. The pictures of bracing we have seen on the net do not look like much chop to me either. I would like to beef it up, so if anyone has ideas i would like to hear it. FWIW i have had nil issues at eastern creek nor wakefield park thus far. I think Martin had an issue with bracing his because it was bolted to the underside ribs (on the stocker metal boot) and those ribs are not very thick. I think he put some spacer/washers in to sure up the mount, but Martin will have to confirm. With my carbon boot (i think it's fibreglass with a carbon layer on top actually) the underside ribs are not as rigid as the stocker metal ones, and it just compresses when you bolt it up. So I didnt have the same issue as Martin. Does that make sense? Seems to be working, but i would like a stronger solution. The hoosiers look interesting but given i have been lucky in getting a lot of the porsche cup slicks (which have proven pretty quick) at good prices i havent bothered looking further, even 2nd hand they seem to work very well. It really helps the budget as we go through a lot of rubber!
  16. Ask Marek what is the harder car to drive, evo or r35. - he will tell you the r35 without question Just quietly i dont think any of the evo boys believe it. Nor do most people reading this. i am NOT saying which car will go quicker putting around at 8/10ths, that is not the question and is practically irrelevant
  17. I do have some driftbox data which compares AM wing with the stocker wing @ Wakefield. I will try and dig it out. Yes we do see understeer in this car, however it is somewhat dialed out by the 290 slicks we run up front. Very different to stocker rubber. Remember these cars have a tune too and are running about 350awkw, turn the traction control off (which we do) and you do have to balance the throttle (a bit) to avoid oversteer. I have found the wing neutralises (turn exit) oversteer and restores confidence. I guess due to rear downforce. I think that has a flow-on effect with driver confidence, so yes it allows us mere mortals to drive the car a bit harder than perhaps we might otherwise. So i dont think the wing necessarily was good for a second around wakefield but it helped instill the confidence for me to push harder and get the time. Same outcome i suppose.
  18. - is the R35 an extremely capable car? yes. - will it be quick right out of the box vs most other stocker cars? yes. - is it a challenge to get the most out of this (or any other car) when car & driver reach their respective limits? - yes what's the disagreement about?

    Cobb Ap

Ahh, sorry. Still pops up on the instrument panel? I never noticed that. MFD = multi-function-display

You dont need the cobb, you can clear the service reminders using the MFD, there is an option in there somewhere (did it myself not long ago). You may even be able to turn them off alltogether. Can check and report back if you cannot find them if you like.
  21. thanks guys. What prices are they quoting? Mark, i am planning on running the 285's all round (if i can get them) otherwise it is probably some 18x285 advan neova AD08's all round
  22. anyone with recent news on dunlop availability? superlap is coming!
  23. $30k for two days? damn WSID is cheaper (for a club event) I love heathcote though (it's like going back in time about -30 years) lots of unregulated fun. At least not over-regulated anyway. The track has been for sale for years hasn't it?
  24. By definition I guess i'm not a real driver Don't you think you're being a tad protagonistic? Not interested in taking the bait so i will just respectfully disagree and move on.
  25. It's tempting to think the r35 drives itself; obviously it's an extremely capable car. What most don't realise (or perhaps happy to ignore) is that you need to turn traction control/vdc OFF to get lap speed, period. Even with a simple tune the stock (VDC) calibration can't cope. It's too intrusive. If you rely on "race-mode" for outright grip you will go backwards. I would imagine it's the same for most modern road cars, but i dunno really. And it's a very heavy car. Driving 1700kg+ for these lap times does require a certain finesse, i dont care how easy it looks. Those used to cars several hundred kegs lighter (whch i am betting 95%+ of cars running similar laps times are) will be in for a rude shock. At the end of the day, the RELATIVE EFFORT required to extract more (or anything approaching optimal) from something so very good isnt necessarily easy, in fact in some ways that's a more difficult thing to do. That last fraction of extra performance is not low hanging fruit, regardless of the hardware, I dont care if it's a VB 253 commodore or an F1 car, same rules apply i reckon! Just my $0.02.
