  1. dont fancy anyone getting dunlops for that price atm (there is a bit of a shortage) but you can get alternatives cheaper
  2. i didnt bother with the off-the-shelf cobb maps. Whilst i say the tune has not been trimmed, Martin has sent me a couple of enhanced updates as he has found a few issues after his own on-track experience, that sort of support is gold. I have to say the car has performed flawlessly thus far & like a stocker in terms of street manners.
  3. Last year i was unable to run a tune in the supersprint championships (as i was in class 2D and awd/turbo cars must run stocker calibration) however this year i have been running a tune from Martin at Willall with great results thus far. I had tried another tune from elsewhere previously however it was earlier on in the R35 development cycle (before the latest boost control logic) and initially i was lapping SLOWER when we tried it - simply because the power would spike quickly resulting in wheelspin city! Fun on the street (it was a bit rollercaster like) but not exactly optimal for lap times. Queue the new Cobb boost control logic; the tune was emailed to me from Martin and uploaded via the Cobb in a few minutes. The result is a more linear application of boost, and substantially less wheelspin / easier to manage on the circuit. For those interested here is the dyno results i had done INDEPENDENTLY in Sydney yesterday. We ran it up in 4th (339awkw) *AND* 3rd gears (353awkw) to satisfy curiosity. Print out from 4th gear run is below. I am pretty happy with the tune, considering it's a mailorder job with no trimming, the boost and AFR's look good to me (although i am no expert obviously). Thanks Martin. The more valuable apspect to this new boost logic is the on-track application of power. We'll be heading out to Wakefield Park next week to improve on our lap records, stay tuned!
  4. wow, nice work! will be interested in feedback when you are ready (quality of the items, install, performance). Do you need to take special precautions handling the ceramic rotors? great stuff thanks for posting, those are serious money.
  5. nothing wrong with the rotas for what they are, remember we had them tested/xrayed and the cast was good with no flaws. i am sure the Jongbloed items will be much better proposition though.
  6. I've pulled out of this event, they've returned the team entry fee ($3600) so all "good".
  7. thread mining - anyone purchased OEM R35 Dunlops recently? Either here or O/S; if so how much and where from?
  8. seen this on the north american forums earlier, insane. is there a video yet?
  9. I think the gearing variance is about 10% with the 68's (or thereabouts)
  10. from what i have witnessed i reckon the best r-spec radial sprint tyre is the advan a050's atm. i've seen a few people run pb's recently on them
  11. still for sale! make an offer
  12. tyres which seem to work are michelin 27/68/18's (all four corners). weight reduction was Willall racing titanium exhaust and susequent power increase from same next time out i will be running less pax seat (another -30kg), race wing and splitter (martin?)
  13. I am completely ignorant about SAU vendor vs technical rules but I've always found Martin a great help in my R35 endeavours. He punches out a lot of work; i think you'll find he's pretty busy. Perhaps he doesnt have a lot of time to trawl forums during the day but if you give him a call (as i have, probably too many times, sorry martin) i think you'll find he's more than helpful and a real asset to the R35 Community, especially in Australia where innovation and real world experience is a bit thin on the ground for this car.
  14. damn, i dont even have the rear seats in!
  15. that's insane; you have to admire that sort of work/passion. that fact it's an Excel (or was) is practically irrelevant.
  16. ditto good pics
  17. damn, awesome times. i can't get over the fact the dunlop is only 1.5s slower than the slick. unbelievable especially considering the extra weight of each corner too (let alone rubber outright grip). the dunlops are severely underrated, but more than that well done on both times. i need that splitter!
  18. sounds like it may be a vinyl wrap? http://speedhunters.com/archive/2008/06/17...k-r35-gt-r.aspx
  19. Jesus H. Stu! nice work on the turn 1 brown pants moment (save)! too many issues to deal with there well done to all members that got out there and had a go.
  20. Also, big thanks Martin, for the tech tips on the Aeromotions install (among many other things). Sorry about all the calls. thanks Martin!!
  21. Massive thanks to Michelin for getting the tyres to me at short notice, and munroman too Also Aeromotions too for making such a cool product. I managed to officially break a new class lap record yesterday; how good is this car? And here is a video from the day, i think there is a 1:41 in there And a little pic
  22. anyone got a timetable yet? i asked but no reply
  23. I actuallybought mine mx72's locally for about $1000 or thereabouts, mainly due to local support from vsport. But yes others have bought them for that price, i think it was $770AU delivered. You win on the carbotech price, ha ha I just couldnt live with them on a daily basis.
  24. Interesting about the backing plate. I'll have to check mine out. I guess bathurst is anpother kettle of fish. FWIW we can get the mx72's for $699US a set.
  25. Duncan, the car felt better/more planted everywhere to be frank. But than again i have never run the car at EC with slicks before. It would be good to do a bolt-on bolt-off comparo at the track, and log it all.
