after once having the "ultimate track suspension" for another road car... it's was great for the track but hell everywhere else. Do you really want the ultimate? really? That sort of hardware is always going to have serious compromises for a luxurious street car.

I understand what you're saying but there are a few important points: 1. The wing in question was approved by the NSW Supersprint panel months ago. I anticipated that it *may* be a "banned" item (as active aero is in various forms of motorsport) which is why i went to the effort of asking before spending a large chunk of cash, time and effort setting it up. The eligibility officer confirmed it was ok yesterday, however apparently someone is going to submit a protest regardless... 2. Whilst the cams regs are clear for schedule F, we have to remember that supersprints have classes for road registered cars (which my car is). There is a large chunk of the cams general requirements which simply do not apply to road registered cars (cages, harnesses, window nets, there are heaps more). Therefore the point here is that road do not comply with ALL cams regs. Also, it's no good trying to imply that the wing is a non-standard item and cannot be used. Go and look at any/all SV cars - i would hazard a guess that 100% of them are running non standard items. Anyone making that argument is going to piss off a lot of people (ie. all SV entrants at least). Back to the point, the wing went very well on Sunday helping me run a 1:41.08 lap, which isnt bad considering i drove the thing home with the aircon on, in comfort. I can only imaging what a pro driver would achieve. An interesting aside is that Marek ran a 1:42.2 (with FACTORY wing) at EC yesterday. However i was running new slicks whereas Marek was running 2nd hand ones. I think Marek running the same hardware would likely run faster than me (ie. the addition of the wing AND new slicks would see a greater than 1.2 second improvement). But there's no substitute for cubic dollars, ha ha (sorry Marek).

the carbotechs will squeal like a p.ig with OEM, slotted or jhook rotors. However the jhooks do make a "clicky" noise with the jhook sliding/cutting over the pad surface, nothing near as bad as the carbotech squeal. FWIW, i've switched to the MX72's and personally i have found them very kind to rotors, virtually squeal free, cheap, probably 90% the performance of the carbotech xp12's - good for my requirements.

To be frank i have NFI how to tune it yet, and not sure i will bother. The aeromotions guys have developed a tune specific to the r35; i would be pissing in the wind trying to better it i would imagine.

I have permission to run the active wing, so active, yes. If anyone is pissed off with it perhaps ask John Bugh first. It's the last thing i need, but i would rather get it clarified than have people thinking i didnt ask / get permission / or trying to fiddle the rules; do what you feel you need to do. FWIW I am running an SV car with slicks, so classified as 4D for points. FWIW2 i also asked the superlap people and apparently it is ok, but given it's mounted on a carbon bootlid i believe that makes it "illegal" for clubsprint class. I believe there are cars which have OEM active aero, if that matters at all.

I actually have had one of those harness plates for a cpouple of months, but they had a few manufacturing issues and i couldnt fit it. A new one is on the way so should be good.
-
ditto i know of a couple of 35's running AP and Brembo fluids, no issues.
-
Dunno if i will bother swapping it out but we will see. Another reason to package it up on an aftermarket boot is so that i can sell it as a bolt-off / bolt-on package later, and return the car to stocker appearance quickly and easily. Something to note is that Nissan AU are asking $3000 for a blank (unpainted of course) boot lit, with no wing on it! The carbon item was less than 1/3 the price.

Adam yes i had a datalogger and sorry to say i dont have big enough balls. Top speed at T1 apex was 178km (242km/hr vmax on the straight). Probably another 10km/hr easily at t1 when i get my act together. I just need to learn to trust the aero. I would expect the R34 would be well over 200km/hr at T1 apex? Totally different class of car, awesome.

I agree with that. Not the best test/comparison, given the slicks. What i can say though is that the seat of the pants evaluation (on how the car handles/feels) does mean something though. I have run the car on slicks before (just not at EC).
-
I asked to run the active wing at sprints and was granted permission, which is why i went ahead and purchased it. But yes it can be locked in a position if required.

I installed the aeromotions R2 wing on the r35 recently. I started with a carbon bootlid, and had an auto sparky rig it up so i can swap out the stocker boot+wing for the carbon boot+aeromotions wing - as and when required. We went to a practice day last wednesday to test it all out, at Eastern Creek. I was running (2nd hand) slicks too (never ran slicks at EC before). Suffice to say the combination of the slicks and wing yielded a 2.2 second improvement (on the lap times). So i would say the wing was good for at least a second. The car felt much more stable and predictable, however i think the biggest advantage is during braking (as the wing has a dynamic angle for braking). Here's a pic and video, any questions send me a PM...

So it looks like the regs have actually been released overnight, however just skimming through it i cannot see any timetable? Does anyone know what the timetable is? Also i cannot see anything about tyres. This seems to be a badly organised affair, what are the chances of pulling out / getting money back?
-
All good now, thanks
-
strange i get this error when i click that link "Sorry, the link that brought you to this page seems to be out of date or broken." CBF!
-
You've seen the regs for the FOSC event? i've been trying to get some for weeks. Where did you see them?
-
can you check thatm doesnt seem to work for me
-
i think this may be it http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ap...rs-t309356.html edit: scrub that doesnt work now
-
that looks sensational, well done.
-
the Red looks fantasic. If i was ordering another one today i would go with that colour.

What he said. I am currently running the jhooks and they are a little noisy. Nowhere near as bad as say the carbotechs though! I would buy and use the jhooks again for a daily drive, it's not that bad, and does get a little quieter over time, i am guessing as the jhook edge gets worn.

gtc give good clearance, i've run them for a dozen track days but they have offset issues. there are other options.
-
here's a video from Oran Park 1964 (not as good but still a little interesting)

It the same with the replica rotas too, there's bugger all in it. It's not ideal, but it will work. 3mm is a magic number which cannot apply to all wheels, rotors, how it's vented (have you seen how the brembo rotors are vented? - get some ap's - they are better), pads used, tyres, which track, how you drive, etc etc etc. All we can tell you is it works - in the real world on our cars - because we have done it. You can increase the clearance somewhat by using spacers (for another mm or two) however i am sure there are experts that will tell you spacers are evil, so i will not bother. If you want to run 18's with the maximum clearance you can get (a lot more than the te's) there is another option. It's relatively cheap, but they are a quality jap rim. R35 owners can send me a PM and i will share the info.
-
i agree greater clearance is better, 3mm might be recommended (sounds like a magic number someone plucked out of their clacker to be frank) but anyway running 18" rims with less clearance than that - whilst not ideal - does actually work fine, speaking from experience and watching several others.
