32 Gtr Suspension Woes!
BeEnAr replied to BeEnAr's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah I've read them all, but also noted that it is dependent on which store you go too, eg. Dandy pedders gets high praise, I went to Sth Melbourne and couldn't really fault them but like I said, I;m not too sure if there prices are excessively high. Centerline were quite expensive for the parts too though. I could source them elsewhere but wouldn't know where to start except online. At the end of the day if the job is done right and complete I will be happy but obviously the lighter on the wallet it is, the happier the wife will be about me spending the money (well as happy as she can be about it going into the car hehehehe) -
Hey guys, Been a while since I been on here. Need some assistance/advice/ya 2 cents/IMHO's etc. My GTR sees a lot of km's a week as it's my daily driver and work commuter. The suspension is shagged and after going through 3 different mechanics they have all told me 3 differing stories about what is wrong with the car. I have been told tie rod ends, wheel bearings, steering rack, radius arms, control arms, front passenger shock, all 4 shocks, Upper Control arm bushes, castor rods the list continues but none of the mechanoics ever said the same things (except for the front passenger shock). I decided one day on the way to work that I would stop in at Pedders to get yet another opinion, that and I had a very annoying creak/squeek/grind that I wanted to get looked at. Well after the 28 point check (which they didn't charge me for by the way *WIN*) I finally got the quote today of what needs to be done and the price it is going to cost me, I need to know if these are low, average, high prices as I'm not too sure about how much it should all cost. I should also add that they were very professional and took me under the car and showed me everything that was in need of replacement, I had an idea from the way it's been driving but was good to actually be shown it all. Anyway, here is the list of things that they came up with and the cost involved: PART #-----------------DESCRIPTION ----------------QTY ---------PRICE EP3478/18 -------------Urethane SwayBar_D Bush------ 1 ----------24.00 3-264 ------------------SWAYBAR LINK (2PKT) ---------1---------- 71.00 KCA336 ----------------Camber adj kit - uppr c/arm -----1 ----------355.70 (already have a superpro Kit for this) NS ---------------------Balljoint -----------------------2---------- 160.00x2 (This is the crea/squeek NS ---------------------Tie Rod Assy------------------ 2 ----------150.00x2 EP1154 -----------------Urethane X_member Bush ------1 ----------225.00 4208 -------------------4208 Adj. Stabilizer Link Pin ----2 ----------55.00x2 F -----------------------Fitting -----------------------1------------700.00 4WA --------------------Wheel Alignment - 4 Wheel ---1 ------------110.00 So all up total inc GST is $2,215.70 minus the $355.70 for the adj camber kit that I already have and the total comes to $1860 Is this a good price? Thanks guys, Jarrod

BP have 100ron pump fuel in the UK. Same stuff used in F1 and WRC, it is made in small batches but can be bought on the forecourt. No ethanol and it's crystal clear showing how pure it is. I want that stuff HERE -

Go and see your GP and ask for a CT scan to be done, it will show you if there is a problem. Then get a referrel to one of the Surgeons mentioned near the top of the thread. A disc prolapse or Bulge is the same thing. Leewah - I had the same probs, but L4-L5 and L5-S1, pushing on the sciatic nerve, pins and needles in my toes from it and numbness, the micro discectomy worked for me but I had also been through an 8 week rehab program before, i.e strengthening and learning how to manage pain and lift properly. I have since done more work on strengthening but still get occasional back pain. I have also had the supplements, Vitamin C is one of the best for disc regeneration, also had glucosamine. Tramadol will F you up if you take it for too long, Valium doesn't work after a while, Voltaren is good but can give you ulcers. I am now on no pain killers but do take the occasional Voltaren. My injury was in 2004 and I was 24 when I did it.

hahahaha lolz at being mashed. I remember being stuck in a hole for 4 hours out the back with DBass and a few of the other regular "Messies"

Was just tellin the story dude, plus he got the job because of his Navy Quals. Employers look highly at a background in the ADF as it shows you have commitment and aren't gonna just hang round for a couple of months and then piss off

Hamish you should edit your post to read Dirk Diggler - ORIGINAL CREW Promoter and regular nutbug, water getter for the DJ's and occasional Hamish Record bag mule! hahahaha I also started out there when it was Deluxe! Hahahahaa AJAX with the Dreads!!! Ahh the good old days

Yesterday on way home from work at about 7:45pm on the Western Hwy just out of the 60kph zone outbound from Deer Park saw some fricken douche bag in his silver (or gunmetal) Stagea doing about 130-140kph in the right hand lane. Dude you are so awesome!! Can my missus have your babies!! You nearly took out the white 4wd that tried to change lanes and the funny thing was you swerved a bit but didn't brake. Dude if he had of changed over without checking over his shoulder you'd both have been killed. I then saw the same spanker in Melton near Woodgrove Maccas. He must have got off at the first exit as I took the second and got there same time as him. Just goes to show you that speeding don't help you get there much quicker on the streets! If you are on here you're lucky I was hungry or I would have followed you and beat your ass senseless. I didn't have a pen to take down the rego... Bugger

what you training as? English Teacher?? jokes sorry. My bro was in the Navy, did an electronics tech apprenticeship, then got bored and did clearance diving for a bit. Now he's been out for about 20 years and is in IT earning a pretty penny for his ADF Quals

spotted my GTR in my car spot at work covered in dirt dust and leaves and birdshit!!!! NOT HAPPY!!! Might get the window washers at punt rd and swan st to wash the whole car WRC stylz hahaha

Easy tiger, tell me you have never, not once, thrown a wrapper bit of food or any other piece of litter on the ground in the street, at a footy game or smashed a beer bottle while out on the piss one night??? Or have you never spat chewy out on the street?? I reckon you'd have done it a few times especially in the younger days when you didn't really give a damn. If not then congrats to you, you will live a long life and go to heaven when you die of old age, but if you can't honestly say no, get off the high horse cos not all smokers throw their butts on the street! I smoke and in my car too but I only ash out the window. Once I am done with the smoke I hold it outside till it is almost out then butt it out in an empty Ciggy packet. End of the week the pack goes in the bin. Beats having to clean a stinky ash tray and smokers cars only stink if they smoke on wet days with the windows up (yuck) None of my mates smoke and my mum hates it but when I asked if the car stinks they all say it smells like a normal 10+ year old car. I don't smoke in the house though as that's fricken disgusting and really does stink!!!

Hey d_33vl_1, I did 2 discs in my back in the 4th year of my apprenticeship (work cover). Ended up doing a rehab program at Cedar Court on Burke Rd & Toorak. It was really good but only helped me in learning the correct way to manage my injury and strengthen it to prevent re-injury. I ended up seeing Myron Rogers at Cabrini who is a Neuro Surgeon and he wanted to take teh discs out and fuse my back. I said no to that and my Chiropractor (very good and worth the 3hr round trip for me to see him) gave me a reference to another surgeon at Epworth, his name is David De La Harpe, he is without doubt THE BEST orthapedic surgeon in the country. Went to see him and he told me they don't fuse backs anymore unless you can't walk or have gone down other avenues first. I had a micro discectomy on L4/L5 and L5/S1 (right down near bottom of spine). Surgery was 1 hour long and I was up and walking within 4 hours. I went home from Hospital the day after surgery. I highly recommend him as do most of Austrlias Elite athletes (footy olympian etc) Michael Klim had his surgery on his back done by him too. You will need private health insurance though, or be on Work Cover or rich as hell as it's not cheap! To this day I still have back pain if I stand up too long or sit in one spot for ages but it is manageable mostly, I jsut have to be careful. I have been on all the meds too, Tramal, Voltaren etc and the only one which really worked well was the Morphine in hospital, or K hehehehe!!! Good luck mate, and I can honestly say I know what you are going through and it's not fun by any means!
-
Yeah mate perfect sense. I would still buy a regular one over one of these as the surface area alone is greater, but as said earlier, it'd be better than nothing
-
I wonder if it would work better if you mounted it longitudinal <--- is that right, rather than horizontal i.e with the opening at the front of car and the exit at the rear of car?? That would eliminate the airflow restriction but I agree traditional works for a reason so why do it differently if it's not as good
-
Ah no, that was for Full comprehensive with agreed value (on the Mazda) for $17000, back when I first got it insured Just cars were only giving $5000 if stolen and not recovered, they upped it to $10000 couple of years back. I was a bit naughty back then with the speeding so my premium was $4500 a year with a $2500 excess, My car would have been payed off in premiums in 4 years!! FK That!! I had to go 3rd party as no one else would insure me and I couldn't afford that top $$ on apprentice wages! They are assholes with repairs too. I had to get my car repaired once when 3rd party through them and it took ages and results were so bad I had to take it back... TWICE! And this was Just Cars AAMI approved repairer! I seriously would check your contracts to see if they will give you the full cover back on an unrecovered vehicle
-
Yep was going to go full comp with the mazda through them until I found that out so told em to shove it. When I got the GTR I rang and asked the same question and they said same thing even though the car is worth 25K plus!! Farken joke if you ask me and I think a few people would be getting some nasty surprises if they need to make a claim. They may have changed it in the last year but I doubt it. I would check ASAP! I will stick with LSV, they even do laid up cover for a car that isn't on the road, and also restoration cover which includes parts you have in your garage! They didn't even ask to see the car when I insured with them! CRAZY!!!
