Well when I did mine it passed no probs is all I'm saying. Was about 2 years ago but none the less it still passed, and it went from small stock size FMIC to larger EVO sized one. Same with BOV, went from pissy little plastic to GFB aftermarket one. Maybe in the last 2 years things have changed but I doubt the laws have been re-written in that time with the paperwork to go with it. Seems a lot of people still don't know because there are threads put up all the time with the same questions about the same things and everytime the responses are similar, "use the search function" or "read the sticky" Edited to say - Just saw this as an example (I thought some1 was playing funny buggers for a sec)See Here Sorry to the OP for going semi off topic for a bit

Shotter - You can doubt all you want but I guess you will never know??? Just because your battery is in the boot doesn't make it special. Even on a basic service they check your battery. And if doing work on electricals or even playing around with them they "should" have disconnected the battery first to eliminate popping fuses... or getting a nasty shock from a faulty coil ignitor holding thousands of volts. Come to think of it this workshop sounds ace, I may take my ride on lawnmower there for a dyno run, I rekon it would top your 48kW! Especially in Rabbit mode!! lolz

ramg vicroads first, they then put me through to the right department and also spoke to EPA after reading through the allowable modifications pdf that the vic roads guy sent me. Just sharing some info that maybe a lot of people don't know. BOMBTRACK - You are correct, in their eyes it was only one modification, the pod. Upgrade parts were not frowned upon because they were replacements of stuff that was there. It was impossible to find a genuine FMIC for the mazda which is why I queried EPA & VicRoads. Aftermarket was fine as it was already factory optioned with a front mount. This is where it gets tricky and people get confused with the legalities and what not. If in doubt, call tehm up, they are more than happy to tell you what is and isn't ok.

Fark Joey, I pay less than you for 33K cover on the VSpec and I live in Melton. I am with Lumley Special Vehicles though and not Shannon's, they were cheaper and offer the same thing as shannons but more public liability.

^^^^^^^^^^ Agreed Take it to a workshop that knows a thing or 2 about skylines, don't take it to a VW mechanic or some old douche with a hoist in his backyard lol.
-
so how can they do it on S15 with stock solenoid? is it different type?
-
Only thing is, when I was replacing the filter etc on my Mazda, I asked vic roads to be put through to someone to talk to about mods on cars and their legality, I said here is what I am doing; 1. pod 2. Front mount 3. BOV. He asked if the car had any of those as factory part, I said yes it has smaller front mount and plastic BOV, but no pod. He said I could change all teh parts because the Pod was the only thing not fitted as factory item. Didn't matter if the cooler was larger or the BOV was after market as they were there from factory, after all he said you can't always get genuine parts on an old car so you have to be able to put aftermarket on. Makes sense really, if you think about it. Pod was dry element so no probs. Got epa tested and put through pits as part of compliance and all passed no problems

Yep I would like to know the bill too. After all the suggestions and help from members, one of them really stood out that he never tried from the get go... GO TO A NEW WORKSHOP! Probably would have had this fixed ages ago.

coolant temp sensor could be causing issues but shouldn't restrict your power that much!

I wanna know why only one intake mod is allowed? I'm lucky in the fact I have a GTR so can replace the intercooler and BOV's if need be as they are a standard item, but for all the GTST owners who don't have front mounts then there begins the debacle. Why do they have different noise level rules for cars and bikes? Most harleys make you nearly deaf with how loud they are, what about engine brakes on trucks? Oh and ask them this... What is the best answer to give when the officer asks "any reason why you were speeding back there?" That one has always got me, I really want to give some funny ass pisser of an answer but always chicken out and say something along the lines of "dunno" or "I wasn't concentrating", well I used to say that but after losing the licence a few to many times in the Mazda driving days I have stopped speeding. Have fun on wednesday, oh and don't take the line with you as if you ask a smart ass question I bet you $10 he will be waiting round the corner to answer all your questions by giving examples on your car

Maybe you've done a head gasket or got a split in the plenum? seems odd that it was fine 1st thing then not a bit later. I can't wait to hear what the problem was, no doubt it will be nothing we have suggested here lol
-
But have they got it working with the stock boost control solenoid? I know they got it to work with an S15 but last time I spoke to Pete he said they hadn't worked it out yet for R32 GTR. Trent have you got any updates from Matt or Pete? I might have to give Pete a buzz now hahaha!

need more info, what car, what is half and full boost for you, what mods do you have? etc. etc.

I said earlier, they all come out of same refinery but I should have said terminal, that being the Mobil Yarraville one but each company still have their own refinery. Mobil are not the sole creators of all fuel as you said Shell is in geelong however BP's refinery is in WA. The Mobil refinery in Altona delivers it's fuel to the Yarraville terminal via pipeline. The terminal (under the westgate bridge) is co owned by BP which is why you'll see their trucks in there. The fuel get brought into the tank farms via pipe (shell and Mobil) and via ship for BP and interstate and OS fuels. Bonus for the Mobil terminal is it is on Preemo land that it has had since the 20s, it's right in the shipping lanes. *puts on cheesy Starship Troopers Narrative Voice* "Would you like to know more?" More about Fuels

HAHAHA!! Reminds me of that south park episode... "Red Rocket, Red Rocket, Red Rocket!!" LMAO
-
you are correct, they come from the same refinery but then have their own blend of additives put into them
-
I spoke to the guys at work about this and as of last week BP were running very low on Ultimate stocks so it is possible they have not yet got a shipment hence the servos are running out. I work for Reliance Petroleum (regional BP) just so you know. Oh and I also fill up with Ultimate because my car likes it (I don't get it cheaper or anything cos I work for head office either ), VPower runs shite in my car, 8000 and Vortex are fine

I found a good cheap boost controller for $22!!!
BeEnAr replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
errr you just bought an aftermarket boost controller. I think you mean Boost Gauge lol -
Stagea on Ring road near the roadworks heading towards western freeway. Only saw you out of the corner of my eye as you were in the outside lane behind a truck.
-
Cool thanks for that. I thought having full exhaust would spool it up quicker which is why I was a bit perplexed.
-
AFM's or Plugs are my guess. I used to get this in the rally car for a while and when I changed the plugs it went away. Try the solder fix on your AFM's it fixed my RPM hunting and stalling in the GTR
-
Cool but can you explain to me how you know this because I am curious to know???? I thought stock turbos got to full boost a bit earlier or is it because I am still using stock controller??
-
On an MR2?? Well these were def on an R33. Maybe they are doing dodgy plate switches... Sure officer its a Nisota MRLine!!
