Gday guys, I recently disabled the engine in my S1 R33 and am looking to replace it. I bought a motor off a mate, but here's where it gets tricky. The engine I currently have in the car is out of a standard S1 R33 and the new one to be put in is the Neo RB25 from the R34gtst. My question is will it work? After initial inspection there appears to be some differences in the head (throttle body, extra sensors) so I'm toying with the idea of swapping the Neo head with the original as the disabled engine has only a bottom end problem. I'm out of my depth of knowledge here so some solid advice would be more than appreciated! Cheers for reading, Marty

That better not be bloody AVIS! I only got $900 a fortnight working 6 days a week flat out there... I found out my first piston burnt out its compression rings, it's running half compression... berry give me your RB25!
-
I heard that if you take an RB25 onto the track it will tend to over feed oil into the head, does anyone know any details on this? The reason I ask is because I took my car to Mallala and after a few laps I pulled into the pits and heaps of oil has blown out my catch can breather. I'm quite sure the engine didn't detonate at any time but I'm wondering if the rings might be shot... I'll do a compression test on my next break to find out, but I'd like to hear if anyone had come across this so I can work out how long I need to spend out bush to pay for it... Before that happened I was having an absolute blast, makes me appreciate how much goes into running a competitive race car and the stresses the car has to put up with.

Finally got the skyline running perfectly, 284kw on 18psi and it's still easy to drive.

Main reason is I can't have it in SA for much longer without getting big fines and being shafted by the cops, my job is here so I need a local license. Secondly I want to save for holidays and a house and as you know these things aren't cheap. Especially with cartoys just around the corner from my place. If I were allowed I'd take my swag down and sleep there... Sucks bad man...

Who wants a 1994 R33 GTS-t series 1? 270rwkw, larger fuel pump, fuel rail, injectors, Splitfire coil packs, Bilstein shocks, I/C, GT35/62 turbo externally gated, high mount exhaust manifold, Microtech LT-12s ECU with hand controller, GFB Atomic boost controller, Apexi metric bost gauge, Front strut brace, Alpine sound system with a 12 inch sub powered by a blaupunkt amp. Always serviced as soon as the oil turns a little dark.

Two posts in a row, I feel like a post whore... Does anyone have any INDEPENDENT oil test results from various engine oils? Im wanting some actual proof that the oil im going to buy is the best for my car and not just the best advertised. I found I review from American streetcommodores.com (http://www.animegame.com/cars/Oil%20Tests.pdf) which has some good stuff in it and has a couple international brands we get here but im really after a test on domestic oils we would be likely to find in our stores. There also seems to be alot of controversy over oil and air filters too that would be nice to have sorted out. Can anyone help? I really want to be putting the best through my lovely lady (skyline) Cheers, marty

Dammit man. What are you converting it to? I like the sound of being #1 in SA, might get that done before I go to Canberra then. Those Yoko's are awesome, barely any wheel spin now and they ride beautifully. How expensive are we talking? I know you can't give an exact number, I'm just after an idea like if it's going to be thousands or under $1k. Cheers

Nice guys, im missing out! BK, have you used Martin in the past? I'm keen for a re-re-tune, im a paranoid *... What do you guys know about Yokohama Advan Sport tyres? i just got a set, cost $435 a piece and was wondering if I got ripped off or if theyre worth it? As for mods, ima do my fuel pump (paranoia) then look at the option of either forging an RB30 or RB25, or selling and buying a better platform... Or buy a house
-
Hey just quickly, does anyone know a well known skyline tuner in adelaide? this dyno discrepancy is giving me the *
-
andrew stop drunk posting. that goes for facebook too... well the best time i could get with a G-Max (if thats what its called) was 14 seconds... im not in alice anymore craig, i guess i should get off this forum then lol
-
im not having a go at anyone, just exasperated... its the same style as the one in alice but its in-ground, same brand too i think (dyno danamics) ahwell whatever, it still pulls like a teenager
-
OK. Same tyres, same suspension, same everything except now i have a better clutch (reading lower). If the reading in alice (297KW) was correct and now its making 64KW more, ive got a standard series 1, rb25 punching out 361KW. Unusual? It gets better. The forged 3L that blew, made 283KW on 18 psi but when melo put the standard one in it was running 17 psi and made 297KW with the same tune. Added to that my tuner here in adelaide said the rb25 was retarded by 20 degrees more than where he usually has it. So my question to you is, is it even possible to have a standard rb25 putting out 297kw when its a freaking retard? And i thank Melo for retarding it that much, it made the car uber safe until i got it tuned on a dyno reliably. I don't make stupid assumptions without having all my facts straight.
-
then why was it 90kw out? i dont beleive it was accurate for my dyno run, thats just my run yours may have been different.
-
Excellent, I'm lovin it...
-
yeah, he was out to get you, after we left he packed up and left... I got my car tuned at Jazmac the other day and as some of you might know it made 297KW in Alice, turns out this figure was actually 207KW, i wonder how that happened... I'm not looking forward to getting my first defect, i think ill have to visit NT to get it taken off... Craig when youre in Adel' hit me up, im living down here now
-
Theyre really nice clean cars Lady G! its nice to see a well looked after R32 floating around, arent many left these days... What sort of power does yours and your boyfriends car put out?
-
WOW! from what ive read adelaide really sucks for defects, maybe the cops should go to the NT and see what an unroadworthy car ACTUALLY looks like, not simply high mounts. In Alice Springs we had a mutual agreement with the police, we didnt do anything stupid and they didnt shaft us. my car passes NT rego checks with no worries but i can tell im going to have issues here... Can anyone help with areas to stay away from that are particularly bad for defects?
-
Gday i just moved to adelaide from alice springs and am looking for other import drivers. Looking for people that like to cruise and just chill out, not for races or burnouts etc. I drive a '94 S1 R33 so if you go cruising with a few people and wanna meet up one day for maccas give me a pm. Im not always in town though so dont feel offended if i take while to respond Cheers, Martin
-
already tried that, its a no-go... was hoping one of the other skyline drivers i dont usually bump into would read this and come to the rescue
-
Hey guys, do any of you know anyone with a decent nick R33 gts-t gearbox? mines pretty tired of being abused...
-
yeah a cruise sounds awesome. but isnt part of the road there single lane? wouldnt it suck to pass a 4wd along that part? how about aileron?
-
I got 4 full sick commo tyres for you jimmy, 3 out of 4 hubcaps included!. are they the same stud pattern?
-
yeah it blows a lil smoke but thats also because its running rich. The smoke screen you probably remember was when we put the new second hand turbo from adelaide on, it was proper busted
