Awesome mate thanks for the reply.Grey Pearl.

I really don't know I just quoted the part no's that keeper gave us and questioned Global over it as much as I could before he said he was too busy and had to go.He said it was definately the right fit up for gtr33 but now that you say that the numbers are the same as for gtr32 I know it's not a direct fit and now wonder which ones Duncan has been using for gtr33's.Cheers Grey Pearl.
-
Further to my last post I rang Global Auto Spares and the numbers that keeper gave us for the GTR33 O2 SENSORS APPEAR TO BE WRONG,probably because the guy at global gave him the wrong info.Apparently the correct global order no info for gtr33's is front:351-0019 $77.00 and rear 351-0019a $145.00 and apparently direct fitment no need to change plugs or wiring. Can anyone tell us if you have bought these items from Global and they fit??Cheers Grey Pearl.

I read every page of this thread and found one post I think from a pilot who quoted a price of $256.00 for the pair of r33GTR o2 sensors, I think from Global auto spares, but I can't find it now ,anyone see that.Grey Pearl.

Squeaks From Gearbox

It's either your clutch fork pivot bolt needing lubrication ,or your clutch pedal bracket with broken welds. If the pivot bolt you need to get under the passenger side of the car with a can of motorcycle o-ring chain lube ,which is a very sticky foam type substance which can be kept localised to stop it getting on your clutch or flywheel, and pull back the rubber boot gently and you will see a bolt attached to the clutch fork with a balled end on it ,use the lubrication extension straw on the lube can and sparingly spray some into the ball contact area,it will be better if you have a mate to pump the clutch gently while you do it so the lube gets right in to the ball area.If it's the clutch pedal bracket you need to take it out and re-enforce it with metal and re-weld the broken area with a bit more than a spot weld if you can,it's a good idea to do this to the bracket even if it's not a problem at the moment as it will strand you one day in a most inconvenient way, and you will probably stuff your gearbox trying to get the car home as many have on this forum, for this reason I am installing a Nismo replacement one which is 1.75 times stronger than original for About $140.00 landed to avoid this nasty inconvenience, hope this helps,if you need more info on the removal of the bracket,go to the search bar and type in "WELD THE BITCH" it will tell you how on a 33 not sure on a 34,can't be that much different though, good luck .Cheers Grey Pearl. -
I'll have to trust you on that mate as you live in the pull over capital of NSW from what I heard about the highway patrol moving their whole operation there lol, you'd be surprised what they would pull you over for in Vic too though.Cheers Grey Pearl.

Hi All,I need to know if it is possible to repair by airbrushing or any other means ,the surround facade that goes right around the stereo head unit and up behind the steering wheel and dash cluster on GTR33.When I got the headunit installed they scratched it and I would like to repair it if possible as it would be very expensive to replace. Also any of you with shmick interiors that go to get a head unit installed or any thing requiring this piece to be removed, I would advise you to put masking tape around the surfaces on this part to avoid them scratching these surfaces,I wish I had but thought they would be more careful than they were ,considering the car they were working on.Cheers Grey Pearl.

Anyone done this to a 320kph white gauge r33GTR dash or got pics of one??Grey Pearl.
-
Did you shop around for that price ,is that good?? Grey Pearl.

Thanks for your reply KI Spirit, yes I think you are right,it looks like an earth to me too ,possibly for the electric window/doors,I guess I will just connect it up to the door card, can't think of any where else it could go,btw I would find a home for that earth wire in your engine bay as they are important from what I've read.Cheers Grey Pearl.
-
Anyone else??,The wire was there for a reason, I just want to know what it is Cheers Grey Pearl.

I have pulled a few r31 lights apart with the oven method and did an awesome job of resealing and restoring them however a word of warning before you put the glass or plastic back on,make sure both parts are at ambient temperature before you do or you'll get condensation inside the glass/plastic and it seems to come back even if you turn the lights on for a while to dry it out, there's some physics involved not sure what, to avoid condensation,I put mine back together warm thinking to avoid this problem and got it, so I can only think to do the opposite and wait till everything is cool. Also you'll find with r31 or 32/33/34 lights that they get discolouration on the outside underneath part because dirt seems to get under the factory coating they used to form the reflective base colour to the glass or plastic, I fix this by getting a razor rego sticker remover and scaping it all off clean then use some hi/temp aluminium engine enamel in a spray can, if they used silver, or another colour to suit, must be hi-temp paint though and after masking it up painting the bottom part in light layers 3 or 4 coats to get perfect cover, and voila, like brand new.Hope this helps Cheers Grey Pearl.

Did you take the headlights out to do that mate.Grey Pearl.

First time in my life anything came easy working on cars lol,But never look a gift horse in the mouth,I've been thinking all day what excuse I can give the cops if they question me over it,so after I plead the 5th amendment, I'm gunna use the r31 skyline tail light set-up,as a defense and if that fails I'm just going to say I had some bulbs blow and must have put the wrong ones in by mistake Ha Ha.Grey Pearl.

Hi there,I took off my passenger door trim a while ago on my GTR33 and fitted new speakers ,while I was there I found a black wire connected to the door panel at one end only that could go anywhere within an 8" radius but could not find where it was once connected any ideas,I posted in the audio section and got no replies so thought I would try here,I reckon it was broken off during compliancing but not sure.Cheers Grey Pearl.

Anyone???

Hope you were being facitious with that last comment,as everyone knows that the spark wears away the electrode and makes the gap bigger,on normal plugs anyway, don't know how long the iridium coating lasts though, which part of the iridium tip is coated and which isn't.Grey Pearl.

Hi once again guys,An Update on the rear tail lights that had been modified to compliance standards on my 33GTR,I learn't a few things along the way as well,Firstly to even get a look at what they had done to stop my inside set of lights glowing except when braking,I had to get the cosmetic covering off the tailights, this may seem easy to any who have done it once or twice before ,but let me tell you those push button clips are a bastard to get off and quite simple to put back on,I see some of you smiling. The trick with them is to get a small tipped phillips head screwdriver and gently turn them 1/4 of a turn anti-clockwise and the centre with the phillips head will pop out a tiny bit, then gently whilst turning this centre bit with your fingers pull it right out whist pulling the rest of the disc outwards as well and it should come out if they haven't been butchered before. Right so got them all off and took out the panel that they were holding in and turned on the car lights, the wiring looked to be factory so I wondered what they had done to stop the insides working,so by a process of elimination I took the outside globe that was glowing from one side and put it in the inside socket of the other side, voila, both lights were glowing, so I wondered how could this be, faulty globes, or different types?no such thing thought I, but all the globes had twin filaments,so I went and got a few spare twin filament globes and tried them on the other side and to my joy they worked too. Put it all back together still pondering the globes and how they had done it,btw to put those clips back in just gently squeeze the plastic tangs inwards till they will fit back in the holes, hold them in firmly and push the pin back in while holding the disc part firmly in,you may have to turn the pin a wee bit but most popped in without any trouble, however one did break the tangs ,lucky I had a spare. Back to the globes I went and had another look at the inside globes I had taken out and to my surprise they had put a tiny bit of black tape over one of the contact dimples on the bulbs rendering one filament incapable of making contact therefore no inside lights except when braking, ingenious,I was so glad that they had not cut any wiring, now both sides glow and both activate when braking as well they look awesome at night. Thanks to everyone for their help on this question especially Duncan.Cheers Grey Pearl

You're on to it mate, that's the one URAS is recommending, hey what's $20 bucks for the features this filter has especially the ease of getting it off.I would still recommend screwing these filters on by hand as normal if you can,and only using the nut for removal as if you use a spanner to do them up they will get powerful tight, you know when you put on a fresh filter and tighten it up that you can back it off easily if you want to straight away, but try it in a week and you know how hard they get, just my 2c worth Cheers Grey Pearl.

Hi all, I would like to know whether I should buy A new fuel filter from Nissan only and roughly how much they want for one ,or whether it is better to go for a generic one from bursons ,repco or somewhere, where are they cheap without compromising on acceptable filtering capability, some proven brands and prices, if generic, would be good.Cheers Guys.Grey Pearl.

Giant, You are a champ mate, saying you would help a brother out for free, I imagine, people like you make the world a better place, and I mean that, only wish I knew someone like you in melb as these niggly problems like idle and vacuum leaks are easy meat for guys like you but we always get stuck with duds and pay through the nose. Personally if someone offered to help me like you have and was successful I would make it worth their while anyway, for fixing the headache without any fuss or pocket therapy.Cheers to you mate.Grey Pearl. -
