  1. On the road tuning? famous last words How can you tell your af ratio, unless you have an af ratio gauge. I know the base timing on the powerfc is quite advanced, probably due to the 100+ron pump fuel available in japan. be very careful. The ecu will always only be as good as the tuner, steve's been tuning wolf's for ages and due to that doesnt need a great deal of time to tune the car.
  2. Great another skyline driver on P's No wonder the insurance premiums are so ****ed.
  3. Drags open tonight/today???
  4. Hopefully we can get it down the 1/4 fast before I **** it up more *sigh* Gonna need a wheel allignment cos over 100km/hr it vibrates and the side skirt is gonna need replacing I think dont think it can be repaired (although they are only $100).
  5. Yes but you arnt taking into account how bad I am at drag racing On the strip I never can get it right, look at my 60' times I need someone to be sitting in the car coaching me what to be doing and when and how, or I could let someone like rev210 or steve-sst, who know what they are doing, drive the car.
  6. 5 or 6... from memory my 60' times werent improving a great deal, but I managed to wipe 1 second off my worst time, which was a 14.7... anyway, when I have all the time slips at hand, I'll post the full details of my best and worst runs. I found it interesting that I went a full second quicker yet much didnt appear to change on the timeslip.
  7. Oh I have to add the car drives so much better on the street than the strip. And I'll post more details about my ET's when I have the slips handy. I found the best way to launch the car was drop the clutch at 3500rpm, although I didnt get a chance to run again and try 4000 or 4500rpm
  8. Yeah, I dont want to talk about it too much it was a costly night. On the way home went sideways through a roundabout cos I just didnt see it and locked up the brakes. Luckily it seems my wheels need an alignment (steering wheel vibrates when doing highway speeds), but I decided to put the 18" rims on the rear, so I spent $700 on rubber., as one of the 16" rim tyres was shredded when I hit the kerb... came out of it pretty lucky I guess, could have hit a pole or damaged the control arms or other suspension bits. Hence all my time slips are not on me as I removed them just incase (insurance). I didnt go through insurance in the end cos all I needed was a new tyre (oh my sideskirts stuffed, but they are only $100 each). Anyway, my quickest TS was 111mph, my quickest ET was 13.888, I kept dropping off on power between gears, I couldnt get any traction (combination of badly prepped track and street tyres) and my best 60' time was 2.6seconds (I think, trying to remember). I'm thinking I might have to buy some slicks and try those on a fully prepped track. I hate to say it but kwinana seems to be getting a bad reputation. Anyway a costly night... been pondering selling the car anyway, as if I hit a pole I might not be here today
  9. I'd need a set in 16" but I'd like to see your times first
  10. I'd like to see results first
  11. Nice niz, wish mine was looking that straight now Its only a side-skirt though... not sure if it can be saved, will get it looked at over the next few weeks... I'll have some pictures tomorrow of my rounabout incident.
  12. I think its fair to say the car wasnt going fairly quick and I am a lucky bastard due to the lack of damage to the car. I'll take some photo's of the side-skirt when I get the chance, the rim involved is also fine... unfortunately the tyre has gone to a better place after suffering major sidewall damage ah well, 18" rims going on the rear tomorrow with some new rubber. Reading your original text I would be hard pressed to find any tongue in check or friendly dig, btw.
  13. 3000-4000 and dumping it seemed to work best to hookup, I think. I dunno when I'm in the car I find it hard to feel what its doing, bogging down or wheel spinning... *shrug* its an odd feeling. Obviously the problem is me and not the car
  14. i AM TOO
  15. Yeah about $105 per wheel in difference. Niz has the 712's on her car, but I have more HP so thinking t1s's. although I dont drive as hard as you
  16. morning should I get toyo t1s's or kumo 712 tyres?
  17. Mate read my post did I say anywhere in it I was trying to drift? I didnt see a roundabout because 1 street light was out, there was no median strip or give way sign. I locked the brakes up before the roundabout, went sideways through it as I tried to steer around it and hit the kerb on the other side. Mate considering what happened I think I did a good job to avoid the light poles and signs that were there and managed to do bugger all damage to the car. Just spoke to the smash repairs and it just seems the side skirt is stuffed and the tyre, no suspension damage is visable (control arms, strut braces, springs all look fine) wont know till the cars balanced and aligned. Best you shut your mouth mate.
  18. My best et was 13.888 with a 2.6s 60' @ 110mph. my best TS was 111.4mph with a 14.06s et but with a 2.7s 60'. So it wasnt a great night for traction. I think the key to a good time is slicks, or semi slicks like nitto's. I was dumping the clutch around 3000-4000 and it seemed to hookup well, but with the bigger turbo its just not making any decent HP in 1st, so I was short shifting into 2nd. Either way I think the car will get a better time if someone else drives it. I might get steve or dave to have a go.
  19. *sigh* kerbed my car on the way home.I went past my mates house and on the way back to the freeway approaching a roundabout that was so dimly lit with no giveway signs, I locked up the brakes got the car sideways (90 degree's), sailed through the roundabout and hit the kerb at the other end... damage (as far as I can see) one poped rear tyre, 1 unhealthy looking side skirt, I looked under the car both control arms are fine (from looking at them, not bent), springs looked good and unbent, no damage to engine or intercooler or anything... fingers crossed its just the tyre and my suspension and axel are ok. I did end up cracking a 13.888 @ 110mph, my fastest mph was 111.3mph and my 60' times were all around 2.7
  20. *sigh* kerbed the car on the way home, doesnt look too bad, wheels are all straight, but had to get it towed cos I poped the rear wheel and wasnt in a position to get the spare on.
  21. Even when I get a dragstrip time, which I will tonight, how can you compare it to a different car on a different track. There are too many variables. ie: kwinana in perth is slightly downhill or uphill (cant remember which one), each car will have different tyres which will effect traction and 60' times, the ambient temperature will be different (might only make a slight difference), the tracks will be prepped in different ways... they might skimp on the prep tonight and it might be slippery as buggery... dyno's are a tuning aid, sure the dragstrip will give you a better idea of the cars performance, but its hard to compare different strips and run dates.
  22. I think I'm at the flow limits on the exhaust manifold. I think with a tubular or a tuned length it would make more peak HP with more timing and no detonation.
  23. Yeah should be. Is your turbo mounted on the stock manifold or an aftermarket one?
  24. Hey aidwin are you about?
  25. My only concern is going sideways into a wall like a car before me did. Might just 1/2 throttle it down first time to see whats happening.
