  1. I was going to change my car insurance to HBF until I asked them about a front mount intercooler and a boost controller and they said it would void my policy. So after installing these and I had an accident and went and made a claim HBF could turn around and say sorry you voided your insurance when you fitted that stuff. I was already with RAC so I rang them up and checked and they are fine with those modifications. From stories I've heard the only people who are reasonable, when it comes to mods and picking who fixes your car etc is shannon's, but I think you have to be 30+ for them.
  2. Nope, I dont care if you're given the car or your parents took out a loan for you, I just dont think people that young should be driving such a powerful car straight up. I'm not saying I'm a better driver than a p-plater, but I've sure had more experience driving than a p-plater. Doesnt have to be a turbo'd car to be powerful plenty of v8's, v6's even some 4 cyclinder NA cars. I've just come back from busselton where I saw on several occassion people passing on bends and doing 130-140km/hr on the roads, that reall pisses me off too, cos one day they might end up doing that straight into me. I think its time the government started spending some of the fine money on educting people. Oh and fixing the country roads some of them are shocking.
  3. The only thing making a wrx fast is the 4wd launch, I think a rolling start between a wrx and a r33 would be interesting, stock ones. I think if I had the choice between a wrx and a GTR I'd take the GTR, with the r32 being quite cheap now and I've seen 95-97 r33's from $40k.
  4. If I had an accident in my car I would want it written off rather than repaired. I've known a few people that have had their's repaired after major accidents and the car is never the same. One was a t-bone, she drove into infront of someone and they hit head onish the other was he got hit from behind.
  5. my bad about the gearboxes, just rumours I had heard.
  6. I wouldnt say the wrx awd takes the skill out of the equation, as it also takes some skill to launch it right, but it should get very low 60' times with its awd, as do gtr's.
  7. cya ken
  8. Nope, but I find most of their stuff overpriced.
  9. fair enough, good luck with your mods and timeslip Once you get the slip you can let that do the talking
  10. got enough money together to replace the clutch and gearbox? ask denver (xrw) how many gearboxes he has chewed.
  11. I want my group certificates to hurry up so I can start my tax return
  12. g'day ken
  13. Any closer to getting the turbo's on micko?
  14. Got a thing for adam hey liz?
  15. Micko, cam!
  16. Adam.... hehe, you like him?
  17. Hey liz thanks for dropping my shirt off, looks great
  18. Dan you've just spent major coin and bought a new ecu and turbo, had you bought a new ecu and turbo for your r33 I reckon you'd have got better value for money in terms of top end power and speed. the only advantage a wrx has over a r33 is the 4wd which only helps the launch, I guess that would make it a fast car in your book cos it would get down the 1/4 quicker.... *shrug* I would have hung onto the r33 more fun
  19. Yeah, I think kens said it before, if you wanna go fast start with a car that fast out of the box... GTR
  20. Yeah get it dyno'd to make sure your AF/r isnt too lean and your detonating.
  21. Yeah having huge HP then comes gthe problem of getting the power to the ground without wheelspin
  22. The cheapest form of management would be the wolf or the powerfc, both will set you back aruond $2k installed and tuned. I wouldnt bother unless you plan to change the turbo/injectors or are chasing huge HP a SAFC2 will do the job to lean the fuel out at high RPM. MRGTST's r33 has a re-written jap rom in his ecu and that makes over 280hp with his other mods, yet he still hasnt run a 13
  23. I think this thread and the low down HP/torque thread go hand in hand. Most of us drive daily driven cars and want good low down low rpm response. For this I would do the following (if I was keeping the stock turbo and management): full 3" turbo back exhaust light weight flywheel bleed valve set to around 10psi safc2 some 9" wide rims on rear 17x9 or 18x9 to fit 265 rubber on autoclutch 2000pound pressure plate clutch from ross diff craddle set I'd expect this car to run low 13's back to back and seeing as it isnt used on the track the stock intercooler should do fine. At most you'd probably spend $5k all up on that and it'd kick ass.
  24. Nah thats fine, do you want to do a swap for that + a little cash for my dump+front pipe or do you want me to give you cash for it?
  25. cool, what did you get it for?
