quote from HPI "it is equiped with a terribly small bar and plate intercooler, with yards of soft rubber piping. At least it is front mounted although half of it is hidden by the bumper and numberplate"

Not as un-obscured as mine *points to avatar*

I thought 0-10km was $100, 10-20 was $200 and 30+ was like $300. I know 0-5km's has been a $50 fine. and when I got caught for doing 8km's over I got a $100 fine.

The car suffers from poor ecu management, small and badly placed intercooler and silicon/rubber pipes from the intercooler to the turbo. The latest, issue 29, HPI has a write-up on it. Just like any turbo car, a front mount intercooler with better pipes and new ecu would see huge gains. The turbo only runs 5psi stock, the stock r33 turbo runs 7psi stock.

I think people are expecting to see you have 250+hp dave, to justify your runs. What they dont realise is the mods, like the lightweght flywheel, wont show an HP gain. Dave might only pull 220hp with 10psi, yet his car has run quick times, just another reason why you cant use a dyno to gauge how fast a car is. Remember aswell, dave's had a fair wack of experience in racing cars, so he probably drives a lot better than most of us.

ah ok... thats pretty piss weak then. I'd expect more from a turbo'd xr6.

Tell me how a cop is supposed to know the stock ride height of an Evo VI and brake size? I wouldnt expect a cop to know my stock ride height and brake size. To give you an idea of my cop experiences, one day when I owned a hyundai coupe I was doing 100+ in a 60km zone, a cop car going the opposite direction saw me and decided to pull me over, only problem was he was stuck in traffic. So I saw his lights come on and siren go off, as soon as that happened I slowed down and stoped and pulled over for him. After 2-3 minutes he caught me up and got out. Asked me if I knew how fast I was going to which I replied no (never admit how fast you are going) in the end he mentioned 90 something, gave me a fine for $150 (remember thats still 30km over the limit) and 3 demerit points. So I lost the right amount of points, but only got charged for like 10km's over the limit. In the end he was nice about it all all because I pulled over and stopped. If I had raced off and tried to loose him, it would have been far far worse. Ok not all cops are like this, but being polite goes a long way most times.

Saw one of these on the way to work in peak hour traffic, so couldnt really have a run with it. Looks like a normal xr6 but has turbo underneath the xr6 logo on the back. I think from memory they are supposed to have somewhere between 250-300kw. So be an interesting drag, I dunno how tweakable they are either. Might even see one at the drag wars Stock form I think they are a mid 13 second car... I think it was HPI who did a bit of a write-up about 3-4 months ago when it was still developmental.

Also it gets rid of a few dodgy compliance shops. I have heard bad stories of cars not having the air filter replaced (and its colapsed in the airbox), all liquids not being changed (engine oil, brake fluids, etc etc), brake discs and pads not being checked and machined if necesary, tyres not even being replaced. Yet they are signed off by an engineer and the shop still charges the going price for compliance. RAWS is both good and bad in different ways, personally from a qaulity point of view its great, from a modified vehicle point of view its bad. When I imported mine I wanted a bit of fruit, exhaust, wheels etc etc. I'm glad I got a stock one though, as it means it hadnt been thrashed to an inch of life and then stuck on a boat for me to buy. Some japanese are fastidious about their car and will look after it and service it every 5000km's, some just thrash the tits off them and then sell them when they become too expensive to fix. Its always hard to buy sight un-seen. Anyway, going back to RAWS I like most aspects of it, but paul's right unless more workshops complete the ISO std we'll be left paying top dollar. The place that complianced my car is a RAW's workshop I believe (he was going through the process when he complianced mine) and thats Phils Mechanical in Kelmscott, good bloke, see him for a compliance plate if you wanna import under RAW's

I still think the 15 year old rules comply. Basically you can import anything over 15 years with it going through a much more basic compliance. You cant import modified vehicles and compliance them unless returned to stock. According the RAWS you must produce documentation to show you have destroyed the parts concerned, there may be ways around it, but it wont be very economical to import a car with nice rims, exhaust, pod etc etc. Its a bit annoying, but given time things may change and hopefully calm down and get a bit more relaxed, at least they havent canceled imports all together.

13.3 1/4 mile hey... hmmm. I feel confident I can run at least a mid 13, maybe 13.7... dunno about the 13.3 See how I go on the 15th Who else is going to the drags then, should be a good time to go as the track is meant to be fully prep'd, meaning for some quick times. Munro was going to try and bring his GTR from adelaide, but I havent heard how its going lately at last mention he couldnt make it as the plex wouldnt offer any discounts for us to see a 9 second car

I've got one of the cyclops alarms that will allow the turbo timer to run while I activate the alarm system. It locks the doors when I press the button and as soon as the car stops running the immobilisor arms within 10 seconds. Even with a non thrashing drive for 15 mins to the shops and back with the air con on the timer reads at least 50 seconds to run... so I think they are worthwhile.

I put it in there because at the time it was the only dyno figure I had I'll change it sometime
-
Not sure... I havent been in any other cars that have simular horsepower. The 235hp @ sst's dyno seems about right... who knows? Dyno's are best used to see gains after mods I think... going from my last 1/4 mile effort 235hp seems more in tune, but I'm sure I can get well into the 13's now on the right track.

I've spoken to a few people about the boost dropping from 12psi to 9psi when the valve timing kicks in and they are suggesting possible boost cut from the stock ecu. Any thoughts? Might have go a power fc sooner than I thought. I was thinking haltech, but I'm starting to get pretty happy with my power output and I think the haltech might be an overkill if I'm chasing say 350hp @ wheels.
-
Its 273ps not hp. its about 270hp. We're not sure why the dyno read that figure, it was a crazy figure considering what was done to the car at the time. A supra also pulled an odd figure too and everyone else on the day seemed to pull normal figures. I'll be going down the drags sometime soonish and hope to be around the mid 13's.

Arnt garrett shit turbo's? The garrett gt3037 is nowhere near the same flow or HP properties as the HKS GT3037. I know garrett make HKS turbo's, but they have different comp housings and AR ratios dont they? How much is a brand new GT3037?
-
So what turbo have you got macka? and what are you doing paul? when will you have new turbo?
-
cost as well? does it bolt straight onto the manifold, internal or external wastegate?
-
which turbo would that be?
-
I'll be going to JRT one afternoon to dyno the car on the dynapak again, so I can get a before and after dyno with the cooler.
-
Anyone know much about trust turbo's? Like HP flow they are rated at, for example I've seen a TD-06 with a t3 flange, any idea what thats rated at flow wise?
-
Anyone know much about them? ie: what flow they are rated at, such as the TD-06 with a t3 flange?
-
Little $$'s??? I've spent more money than most people who have done their fmic, I did buy a trust unit remember. The whole idea of the trust cooler was to improve intake temps in order to reduce pinging (and I can run 12-13psi all day everyday even in 30 degree heat) without the car pinging. Once I get this AF ratio sorted then I can start mucking around with the timing, like rev210 is.
