Does anyone know of any place that will sell Greddy Plenums in Japan? Rezz, did you get my PM? I have a mate over there that wants one asap.
-
Okay I may be a bit out of touch with some of the lingo going on, but thanks. Can I contact these fellas by email or phone or something? Is that their name - 'K's Garage' ? And no thanks, I have a complete 3 litre motor, just want a plenum.
-
Sorry if this has been covered in a thread somewhere - I had a good look, but couldn't ifnd anything. I tell you what - Rezz's photos are cool. I like that thread! I need to know of shops in Japan that sell car parts. Particularly bolt on performance parts. In case you're wondering, I am after a Greddy Plenum and possibly a whole bolt on kit for an RB25DET. So yeah, I have no idea how to find these places or contact them, but I reckon some one on here would have some good contacts over there. All help would be appreciated. Thanks! Luke

I put a post in the Race history of Godzilla thread, but I don't think anyone goes there anymore.. I am after some information on the Falken Tyres R32 GTR that raced in the James Hardie 12 Hour race at Bathurst in 1993. I know it finished 4th and who was driving, but I was after some pics or footage or something. I can buy the video for $30, but at this stage, its not that necessary. So if anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. Luke

Some of you have some very good racing info. I particularly keen to find any info on the GTR that raced in the James Hardie 12 hour race at bathurst in 1993. Can anyone help me out? I'd looove to see pics or a vid.

Agree. But I'd probably rip thru it on the dyno to run it in. I'm a bit more brutal!

Thats cheap dude. Very tempting. if only I wasn't broke... You can disable the VVT - I did. I have adjustable cam gears in stock at work which delete the VVt. All you have to do then is get the head welded to fill in the hole, and block off the unused oil feeds in the front cam journal. The high pressure oil galleries in the head that feed the buckets and the other cam journals feed the end one too if you drill it. It takes a little messing about, but worth it. VVT sucks. get some good cams and leave them in one spot. Don't say this won't work, cause I have done it.

Matty B- The idea is sound, but do you know how much they carge for one of those 6 speeds?? Crap loads. Get a brand spankers Tremec TKO for similar pricing.

If you didn't live in the UK, I would swap my 0.82 for the 1.06...

Yeah, its just that the 40hp estimate was jacked to 150hp it confused the hell out of me. Providing the engine makes similar power to what you said it will, 40hp won't be hard at all. And thats on top of the GTR cams. The GTR cams are around 15degrees bigger (Low lift) and app. 0.5mm bigger than the 25DET ones. The only problem is, the deal seems a little shaky at those hp figures, only because if supporting hardware is going to hit its limit, its at these types of HP you are talking about. Where do you work and whats the number I can contact you on. PM me if you like. I think I can arrange a more sedate deal which will make everyone happy. We need a little bit more detail on your engine. GT1 and others: Don't get too excited yet, but being the only camshaft manufacturers in Australia, I believe it is our duty to make new cams for the RB twin cam engines. It won't be for a little while yet, but when they are done, they will have excellent metal composition and design to rival the big japanese boys, but at a fraction of the cost. Like I said, good for the economy.

I meant the Zoom MAG with the GTiR special in it. The article on the Calais with the RB in it is in that mag. It kinda made sense. If I knew how to quote posts, I would highlight these points 1. 140hp (NOT 150) was gained at the wheels. 2. This was made as an improvement over stock RB25DET camshafts. 3. You said they won't make more than 40hp. Now we have to beat 150hp?? Talk about raising the bar champ. 4. The power increase was within the Turbo's HP range. Its kinda hard to increase HP by heaps when you are already maxing out the airflow of the GT3040. 5. My comment was that the RB25 in question could easily go from 450atw to 500 with the right camshafts. 6. Stop piss-farting about and changing your mind. The bottom line is, our cams are good and they will improve the HP of your engine by way more than 40hp which you claimed was the max. Your post was not correct, you did miss everything. If you were serious you would understand what camshafts can do for an engine and not just use 'forgies and more boost' Speak to you when you call us to organise a time and venue.

DennisRB30: What you said is correct and very important. There is a lot of R&D in the squish area of each (good) IC engine. While the thickness increase is not much, and the effect of turbulence isn't much either, it sort of is a step back at the same time. Look at the US Hondas- high CR and turbos, fast times, because of Honda's superior squish design. (Combustion chamber and pistons) The best way to decrease compression would be via different piston crowns. The people in the piston manufacturing business are very knowledgeable in this area. Although not cheap. For an application that isn't insane, the thicker gasket would suffice I believe. But the more boost, RPM and power that is involved, the more it would take its tole.

A real motor eh? Nice choice. Keep us posted on performance -
Springs go for around (Don't quote me, cause I'm a bit boozed) $500 I think. Could be less could be more. We make the retainers at work. Titanium is not suprisingly quite a bit dearer than steel. Our metal selection is quite good and the steel ones work a treat. But if you're really serious about revs, then we can do Titanium. Do us a favour? Call on Monday at work to get prices please. I just used my standard ones and modified them a touch. But we are selling a few cam and spring packages now, so I guess I'll design some retainers and use them! SydneyKid, I was wrong. They put in Iskenderian Springs as well. Which, as you may know, makes no difference to the output cause it would have made almost the same power with those springs and stock cams. Listen champ, read the zoom article which has the GTiR special in it. The car is in there. It had some decent hardware on it too in terms of turbo, cooler, fuel system, management etc. This all determines the engine's ability to make use of the new cams. (I hope you knew this) But if your engine is as 'tuff' as you make it out to be, feel free to outline the deal again, write up a contract what-have-you and you are definitely on. Tell me the mods to your engine and external hardware, bolt in some stock cams with good springs to suit the new cams, bring it up and we'll run it. Switch the cams, degree them in, RE-TUNE the engine, and you will lose bud. Thats a guarantee. Don't forget, you started this bitch fight by claiming I was wrong, so if you are keen enough to argue, feel free to come up. We just manufacture camshafts for our customers as best we can- and they work.
-
You don't have to be a complete knob-shine. Obviously the Autronic was retuned. How the hell do you expect to install new camshafts and not alter timing? Are you running a back-yard hick shed labelled 'Tuning House' or what? Note to all: DO NOT INSTALL NEW CAMSHAFTS WITHOUT RE-TUNING YOUR CAR! IT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF PUTTING THEM IN THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. P.S> My understanding is that the boost and cooler were kept the same.

EXACTLY the same rod?? On one hand I can't see why they'd bother using two different part numbers. On the other, if you ask for GTR rods, they are going to want to sting you HARD! Anything with those three letters!
-
Our cams in a customers RB30/25 went from 430hp atw to 570 from putting our cams in. Goes to show that Aussie Engineers aren't so dumb eh? You don't always have to go to Japan to get parts for your cars. Bad for the economy. The Japs tend to overdo a lot of things when they shouldn't...

Machining the head is not very hard. There isn't much to clear. I have 10mm of lift and there isn't too much to take off. An engine shop would charge SFA to die grind it out. Mahcining the head has nothing to do with duration, just lift. Converting to solid doesn't give you more lift. Identical profiles for solid and hydraulic show approximately half a millimeter more lift on the solid cam. This is clearance take up which is done by the ramps on the lobe.
-
Yeah $100 is okay when they've had that done. But I've had guys say like $120 straight out of a dirty old wankel from Japan
-
What sort of money do you guys pay for 13b 550cc injectors? Some dudes want HEAPS for them like over $100 second hand!
-
Dude, do you actually have an R33 turbo UTE? Can you post pics? That'd be nuts!!
-
$1200 will get your cams built up and they will bolt back in to your engine without having to use lash caps or tipping your valves. From what you are saying, we might be able to grind you cams down. This will cost $400 and will require spacing of the buckets. Like I said, we could grind a profile onto your standard cams bigger than the Tomei one mentioned earlier. Also if you go for big-ish cams, like mine, you will need to relieve the cylinder head so the lobes don't foul the casting. No biggie. Luke
-
JNR24- $1200 is for both cams. Remember, this is to build the camshafts up and grind them away. This keeps your base circle the same and negates the need for spacing the buckets. If you think $1200 is too expensive, we can supply you with larger cams than the Tomei ones mentioned for $400. more duration and more lift. There are many options. $350 for adj. cam gears. You can keep your VVT or shaft it. Up to you. Yes we can provide stiffer springs - Iskenderian Racing. That is what I'm doing. Bit of mucking around but worth it. The springs themselves cost about $450. Also Titanium retainers - $45 each. or $20 each for Chromoly. TonyGts-t : Have you experienced our $1500 worth of performance? No? Well do your research on our product before heading overseas.
