  1. Bloody oath. Don't be a girls blouse. Don't just clip the apex kerbing with your unloaded inside tyres. Do it like a real man & stuff all four wheels over the kerbing and take as much grass as you can with you. The cornering sequence is simple. Brake (if you must). Turn in. Nail that kerb. Get some air. Get some grass. Get some serious chassis/tarmac spark interaction when you rejoin.
  2. Not sure if the last couple of posts related to the first photo in the thread but if it did & for info the bushes in question were not by any means old. There is a thread on it somewhere which you can find with a search of the Whiteline part number for an R32 GtR front camber kit. The photo is a few years old & may no longer reflect the product from Whiteline.
  3. Best I can offer is this: The part number for a project mu rotor for an R33 front is SCRN006. It has a height of 53.8mm For an Evo the part number is SCRM045 with a height of 44.2mm So the Evo calliper appears to sit a little further out than the Nissan equivalent. Which may cause a problem.
  4. Sorry Roy, I wasn't having a go at you. It is just that it appears that everytime LH does anything at all someone will kick the crap out of him for it. Half the time it isn't even him doing it. I think that if HK was leading then Hamilton would have had to take the place from him, not be gifted it. HK is only on about 24 points - half that of the leaders. He is why McLaren are only third in the constructors. Personally I hate (fkn haterz) all the tippy toeing about driver orders. They have always been a part of F1. To pretend otherwise is just insulting everyones intelligence. The fastest laps are on the F1 website. Looks like Kimi has that shot to bits. Australian Heikki Kovalainen McLaren-Mercedes 1:27.418 Malaysian Nick Heidfeld BMW Sauber 1:35.366 Bahrain Heikki Kovalainen McLaren-Mercedes 1:33.193 Spanish Kimi Räikkönen Ferrari 1:21.670 The land of goat sphincter rings Kimi Räikkönen Ferrari 1:26.506 Monaco Kimi Räikkönen Ferrari 1:16.689 Canadian Kimi Räikkönen Ferrari 1:17.387 French Kimi Räikkönen Ferrari 1:16.630 British Kimi Räikkönen Ferrari 1:32.150 German Nick Heidfeld BMW Sauber 1:15.987
  5. It is a bit of an odd argument. If kovi hadn't have moved over then McLaren would not have won the race. So apart from the haters I don't know why anyone has an issue with it?
  6. I don't have a photo - it is not that interesting. The instruction I used were the ones in the kit from Tomei. I just got the colours translated from Kanji to Engrish & the wiring was done accordingly. If you want to check your install I would check two things. 1. Use google to make sure the wire colours are correct ie the Japanese lines up with the Engrish which in turn lines up with the bit of kit. 2. Make sure you weren't looking at the plug connector upside down or whatever.
  7. Um I put a Tomei kit into my R32 and had no problems at all.
  8. One drive doesn't make a career, but he has now had three good GPs on the trot. Renault stuffed his qualifying up for him by sending him out in traffic. That put him back in the field & made him run long. Not sure where he would have finished without the safety car but he had the pace to keep Massa at bay & he drove well. Good on him I say & I hope he derives some more confidence from the result.
  9. If you only want 300rwhp then you don't need to change the turbos. The stockers will run safely at this power level. For a time the 2860 was known as then 2560. The core was even tagged as such. Mine are. So your mechanic is probably referring to the exact same turbo - or he should be. Check the Garrett site but the item is, irrefutably a GT2860 707160-7. Make sure what your mechanic is talking about has the correct flanges etc as some of the old Garrett options did not bolt up directly. The are a number of different sizes/types of 2860. So yeah one or other of them probably suits an SR. Check the other threads you will find the GT28-60 707160-7 does not have lag issues.
  10. It was nice to see the after race press conference with the three drivers being, well, nice to each other. Massa particularly was eloquent on a day that would not have made him happy. Lewis said some complimentary things about Nelsen too. Good work all. Oh and you lot the NPKJR bandwagon is leaving town. So get on it while you still can. NPKJR P2, Alonso spun on his way to finishing P124. How long till Fernando feels the need to start playing silly games? He will need to make sure he uses NPKJR's set up info in the next race aswell....
  11. If you are not going to push the motor too hard then the smaller of the Garretts (GT2860 707160-7) or the HKS GTSS are a very good turbo. Equally some people are happy with the HKS 25-30 or the Garret GT 2860 707160-5 which is basically a size up. Personally with the prices of turbos these days I would much bother with old N1's or similar. If you search the site you will find out what mods (eg AFM's, ECU, injectors, pumps etc) are needed to go with a given amount of rwhp.
  12. FWIW don't order a helmet before you have tried it on. Chances are they don't fit & the fit is as important as any other consideration. I was having a think about going Friday. May drive the Foulcan up for a butchers. Shame Collie is such an awful place to spectate. Hopefully it won't rain this year.
  13. Try and organise yourself so you can fully utilise the three flying laps you are given. Don't chuck away a third of the days running because of something you are missing in your set up.
  14. Wayne, Not sure who does the washable liner - be interested to know. With regard to dates SA2005 is the most recent. Check on your CAMS guide if a SA1995 still has a year or so compliance left in it. I haven't had any issues with scrutineers making comment because my helmet is not AS whatever compliant but then I don't go to the drags. The hard bit is getting a helmet the right size. I have a head like a dropped pie but I mananged to fit it into an Arai open faced number. But it is an XL & they go no larger. With regard to the liner I find if you wash what remains of your hair before use & make sure you dry the thing out after using it doesn't get stinky at all. As for Hans make sure you are comfortable if you want to use the device. Last thing you need is a pinched nerve which can & does happen. I don't know of anyone doing sprints that does use it. Now hurry up & get out there!!!!!!!!
  15. Hey that looks familiar... Also pays to check the bolt on the upper outer trailing position on the drivers side. Mine continuously works loose. No idea why. I cant remember the size or pitch other than it is a flared nut ont he inside.
  16. Hmm I was going to buy some rims shortly but I was worried about them getting stolen. I think that, in those stickers, I have found a solution.....
  17. So its confirmed that STR are going to be around next year?
  18. I ran an older GT-R (A 32) at the track over a number of years on 13#. There is no reason why you should have problems at this level as it is relatively safe. It is however always possible. There is no hard an fast rule, but there appears to be a consensus that 14# is a perfectly acceptable number for these turbos. Be sure that the engine is warm before you go out on the track & give the thing plenty of time to cool down after each run. Also be aware that wear and tear will be relatively high on your car mostly the brakes and tyres. Keep an eye on your oil temps too.
  19. I am having a bet on Webber this weekend also. The bet is that on lap 14 he will spin the car into a sandtrap from P8. It is like F1s version of Cluedo. You pick the lap, the cause of retirement and the position from which he retires. If he actually ever finishes a race the prize jackpots. I just wish someone would give him a good car that he doesn't need to overdrive so much.
  20. NPKJR has had a bad start to the year. No one would debate otherwise. But he has stepped his game up in the last couple of races. He beat Alonso in France. He qualified on the same row as him in England (With more fuel) & was racing well until the rain caught him as it did no end of others. Don't forget if it wasn't for a bullshit yellow flag incident that did not involve him he would have beaten Hamilton to the F3000 title. And don't forget what a rubbish start to the year Kovi had at Renault. Anyway, go the sons of former F1 drivers.
  21. Bah, the German GP. It was much better on the old Hockenheim circuit. Then the cars could just fk off out into the forrest & blow up without disturbing anyones sleep.
  22. The problem with rallying in Australia is the spectators have no commitment. Not like Portugal in the Group B days.
  23. Because modified road cars are horrendously expensive to run week in/week out. The V8 category started out as being not dissimilar to modified road crs. Take the VP Commodore. It had a 5 litre Holden motor (Not a Chev) a three link rear live axle (like the road car) McPherson strut front end (like the road car), shared the body shell with the road car. Over time the category has moved away from this arrangement - principally to SAVE money. It has also changed the regulations to try & ensure parity. So cost & parity are the two main drivers....
  24. I remember the 2 litre Super Touring championship. Both here & in Britain. It provided some good racing and the technology of the cars was interesting & diverse. There were variously front, rear & four wheel drive cars. Four, five & six cylinder engines. Sedans, hatchbacks & station wagons. The Williams Renaults were a lovely bit of gear. In Pomgolia there were anything up to 8 or 9 manufacturers involved at any one time: BMW, Audi, Volvo, Ford, Vauxhall, Mazda (Eunos), Nissan, Renault, Alfa Romeo. Plus some others I can't think of. Unfortunately costs got somewhat out of control & with one make dominating the series in turn the manufacturers decided spending large sums to come 10th wasn't worth it anymore. Australia's Super Tourers were, by and large, the previous years BTCC cars. Audi, Volvo & BMW had good factory involvement & good drivers. (Jones, McConville, Richards, Brock, Morris, Brabham, Baird...) By comparison most of the privateers struggled. Ross Palmer basically gave it away after the PI tragedy & even Gary Rogers efforts were fairly hand to mouth. As for a salary cap they tried to introduce it for our V8's. It didn't work. Personally I favour Mark Larkhams idea. Holden & Ford tip their money into a pool for marketing & team funds are provided by whatever Cochrant can gouge from tv & the circuits/promoters plus whatever sponsors they can find. This neatly removes the ludicrous situation where you have one or two factory teams & a bundle of privateers running. Classes? Well no one gave a fk about anything other than the outright class. Given how many safety cars racing currently suffers from I would hate to see slower cars added to the series.
  25. Maybe some cheap stuff here: http://www.v8clearancesale.com/
