Stop it or you'll go blind. It isn't anything like that. The report is clearly wrong. Try 107 at its peak. Which is has fallen from.

Dunno occasionally an F5000 used to be put on the forecourt to drum up interest.... They could always re-badge someone elses work anyway. Wonder what John Judd is up to these days?

The paint scheme Freddo ran in 1990 was prettier htan the 1991 version. Maybe give that a go? Nice work too.

Well personally I hope that Jackie Stewart sues Oswald, sorry Max Mosley for approximately 11ty billion dollars. the gives atleast $100 million of it back to McLaren. As for parity & the FIA enforcing it on McLaren - people have apparently forgotten something. The whole issue of team orders only came into the spotlight because of a bullshit stunt that Ferrari pulled a number of years ago. Schumacher was streeting everyone at about the half way stage of the championship. But they still made his number two pull over on the last lap of the Austrian GP (I think, memory is a but dodgy) to ensure he got the extra 2 points. Before that it had never been a problem for anyone.

Are You Cracking Dba Rotors?
djr81 replied to Roy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Maybe we need a group buy happening to bring in a shedload of hatted rotors. Looks like every man & his dog has problems. -

Reckon you may be onto something there. Notice also how much wasted rotor face there is on the inside of your rotor. -

You can get plenty of rotors, just not hatted ones. Check the usual imports mobs. Endless/Project Mu. With the way the dollar is going lately they will be practically giving them away.... The Biot stuff looks well bling if you can get your hands on them. Maybe AP or Brembo do one also. Big $'s, but. -
Are You Cracking Dba Rotors?

No you are not. Sorry for the bum steer. I thought they did. Dodgy memory. I think the reason is that the handbrake works on the inner drum section (or hat if you like) So no one makes the hatted rotors for the rear. They dont make any 5000 series at all for the povvo pack 32 R's either. Except for a mob called Biot who appear to. -

The DBA 5000 should be fine for the rears. Not sure about the hand brake though if you use that alot. It appears only the 4000's cause problems. The 5000 slot pattern is different, ie doesn't extend to the edges. -

Well I will give the RDA's a try at the front of my thing early next month. I am getting well sick of continually chucking rotors at the thing when it won't stop well anyway. Maybe the trick is to keep the slots well away from the edge of the rotor. Looks to be how the grown up brake companies groove theirs. Maybe someone can get a hold of some DBA blanks. Actually there is a question. Other than the slots & the paint are the DBA 4000's any different to their poverty pack versions? -
Kazama Tension-caster Rod?

Sorry to harp, but what are they made from steel/aluminium? I am after some aluminium ones. -
Extra Groove For Bilstein Shock For Eibach Spring
djr81 replied to djr81's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
My stuff arrived yesterday. Looks very bling. The threaded sleeve looks long enough to make installing the groove relatively easy. Doesn't much matter if it is +/-10mm in either direction. Couple points/questions from the first set of photos: 1. Where is your lock ring? 2. If your spring isn't trapped you probably need a helper. Oh and does anyone know where to get the spanners from? -

They look nice. What are they made from steel or aluminium? -
Occasionally you see adverts in the Auto Fiction when BJR are looking for people. I always figured that if you listed your hobbies on your cv something like below you would be a shoe in: Hobbies: Fighting. Arguing with my brother. Watching Russell Crow movies. My money is on the Jones boy - he is match fit....

Pretty much as it says in the title. I am after a pair of REAR Brembo calipers from either an R32 or an R33. If you have them with hatted rotors I would be interested in those too. Cheers djr81

You can be damn sure that Walkinshaw won't be backward in coming forward in charging anyone for services rendered. Question of the day: Who would win in a fight: Kim Jones or Tom Walkinshaw? Or Kim's "mate out the back"

Couple of golden rules when dealing with the dpi. 1. Never ever submit a form that is not fully filled out. If they see stuff unfinished they have no basis to accept your application - because they just don't know - how could they? Also if it is non compliant state by how much it is non compliant by - sometimes they will give you a break. Just not often. 2. Never ever ask them a question if you already don't know the answer. They will probably just make shit up that makes your life harder. Oh and that link appears broken.

Yes but it had an LS1 in it, not a Windsor. If you want to run a Windsor you need to spend up on some nice alloy heads, probably a stroker kit & pay close attention to manifolding & exhausts. Even then I don't think it will hold a candle to an RB26. None the less good luck. Oh & top loaders are well old school. Try Tremec, rubbish shift feel aside.

Advice, R32 Gtr Brake Setup
djr81 replied to Dynamix's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Should fit. Check the ap racing website for their template for that rotor size with the CP5555 caliper. The 6 pot CP5555 is larger than the 4 pot Nissan Brembo or the Sumitomo. In any case you can readilly compare the caliper sizes. But I don't know of a cheap 343 rotor.... -
Well to be fair BJR has a pretty good history of running customer cars - after all that is what the Audi's were. McConkey drove well for them too. Also they did have periods of competitiveness going back a few years. I think that overwhelmingly budget is what is killing them. They are renowned for making a dollar go far, but there is only so much you can do. Look at their response to the control rotors - HRT were saying they saved money because they replaced them prior to every rave anyway. BJR previously used one or two sets for all the weekend... The hard bit would be to convince a company to stump up the N million dollars needed to run competitively when BJR lack the infrastructure necessary to yield results quickly. So the only viable mechanism to get around it is to go the customer car route. Unfortunately this meant one of Walkinshaws dodgy deals - I would have thought they could have done what DJR did & got the 888 suspension package. There was nothing inherently wrong with either the chassis (A Britek proved) or the engines (As Lowndes proved). Although the djr cars did seem to hose the 888/SBR cars up the hill last weekend. Any rumours on who the prospective sponsor is, local curry house excepted? In any case given Holden funding structure I wouldn't imagine that they offered BJR truck loads of cash.

Hmm, double post(er) -
If you have about $25k you should be able to find a very nice example indeed. If you are overly worried about maintenance & running costs get a stock or near stock one. As for insurance well that is hugely dependant on your record/age/location etc etc. Can be anywhere from $250 (third party I got quoted) to $3000 for full cover if you live over east & are young etc. Other maintenance depends on your usage. They aren't inherently different from any other car. If you flog it on the roads you will be paying more in fines & court costs than maintenance - so don't bother. Most of what you need can be sourced either from Nissan, from SAU or the traders here. Best advice is take you time, find a nice one. Then look after it.
