  1. R32 Gt-R's were built until late 1994. So the youngest of them is 13. I own one, so I would like to think I know what they are. (It is my 4th). Consequently I look after it well. If it needs fixing it gets fixed properly. I certainly doesn't get "the pants driven off it". It doesn't have a rebuilt engine, nor does it need one. If you are looking at a budget I would suggest $25k for a late model, relatively stock example. Buy a nice one, not a cheap one. Don't get too enamoured by the mods, the car itself has to be good. There are plenty about locally to the extent that I wouldn't bother importing one yourself unless you know people in Japan. A good R32 Gt-R will probably be the best car you will ever own.
  2. R32 GT-R's brakes are somewhat rear biased and usually lock the rears first. So what you are experiencing is nothing abnormal, unless ofcourse it is happening with very little retardation. Some questions: How firm is the pedal? Does the ABS release the wheel, ie do you get the usual ABS feedback through the pedal, albeit at a slow rate because the system is pretty slow?
  3. Having watched the race I reckon the best bit of driving was by the blokes in the safety cars. Before the race started whoever was pedalling the MB estate backed the thing into the chicane in a way that was just pretty to watch. Later on the safety car was sideways not long after entering the circuit proper. Nice work. Shame the race was rubbish. Here is hoping Williams can keep improving.
  4. Nah they are the right way around. I think only DBA do them backwards. Can we have a pretty photo of the front end?
  5. What plate thickness did you use?
  6. Skyline model = R32 GT-R Front - Wheel type - Blitz 10 spoke (No idea what they are called) Wheel diameter = 17" Wheel width = 9" Wheel offset = +22 Tyre size = 255/40/17 RE55's Modifications to fit = Nil Rear - Wheel type - Blitz 10 spoke (No idea what they are called) Wheel diameter = 17" Wheel width = 9" Wheel offset = +22 Tyre size =255/40/17 RE55's Modifications to fit = Rolled guards. Question: I want to upgrade to an 18" rim, but am unsure as to whether a 9" or a 9.5" would be more appropriate & which tyre they would go with. Tyre selection is either245/40/18 or 265/35/18. So choice is 1 of three. 1 9 inch rim with 245 bag tyre. 2 9.5 inch rim with 245 bag tyre. 3 9.5 inch rim with 265 bag tyre. Will the last of these fit given my 255's are marginal as best.
  7. For my 10 cents worth I would pick: RDA rotors out of the group buy. Ferodo pads DS2000 or 2500's (take your pick) - they are much better than the Rb74's from my experience. Fluid is cheap - even the Motul RBF600 is $28 a 500ml bottle & is as good as you will get. More pedestrian stuff is half the price (if that) Stay away from the Brembo calliper as fitted stock to the Nissans. It is really no better than the Sumitomo version you can get for much less money. The only gain is in rotor diameter. Also, IMHO the DBA4000 series are a waste of money. Put simply, if you use them for their intended purpose they will crack due to insufficient internal cooling vanes & a bad slot design. So why pay over $300 a corner for that sort of nonsense. If you don't need to up spec the rotors, why pay that sort of money for something you don't need?
  8. Short answer. Yes. Does is easilly in a GT-R.
  9. Yes an R32 GT-R pump is a good upgrade. There is no reason to suggest that the pump in question would be on its way out. People upgrade their Gt-R pumps when upgrading their motors, so if you ask the seller (nicely) & check on the kms/age of the unit you will be fine. They are a direct fit (afaik) & given the prices you can't really go wrong.
  10. Well I am not sure if you have noticed (either you or your mate) but the police & the state government have basically declared jihad on anyone who has even a half interest in cars. People doing stupid stuff like this only allows the government to further their agenda - why do you think their PR is so finely honed to publicising incidents like this? Your mates actions (& people like him) are the direct cause of making life more difficult for anyone who owns an import or a modified car. So Lastly he wasn't unlucky to get caught. He was lucky he didn't kill himself. Or his mates. Or someone else. He should be thankfull the coppers stopped him. Anyway with the amount of trouble he is in now & the repercussions this will have on him for a long time to come, no amount of internet flaming will make a blind bit of difference.
  11. You don't have to wonder. Just look at the history of sports car racing.
  12. Well I hate all of you. Hang on... If Nissan bring it in on a full volume basis (Which doesn't mean they will sell many) then kiss goodbye to any RAWS/SEVS imports at a later date. Here is hopiing they do what Mitsubishi did & limit it to 100 per annum. Better result long term, but you can kiss goodbye to the prospect of them selling the cars for $120k if that is what happens.
  13. That is obviously Andrea De Cesaris, but I can only guess it is also Betrand Gachot. Is he out of jail, now? I would nominate the Tyrrell-Honda... As an aside it looks like the FIA are going to do McLaren over good & proper.
  14. To be honest, I wouldn't think so. Too small.
  15. That's not the half of it... http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=40534
  16. Hmm, do you just go in & ask for the poverty pack version, or is it a case of taking whatever they will give you? i hope to hell Nissan only bring them in in restricted volumes (ie RAWS/SEVS friendly at a later date)
  17. I would just be repeating myself if I said anything further about the FIA & Ferrari. Wouldn't worry about Alonso. I am sure Ron Dennis would have what could only be described as a fk off big buy out clause in his contract. With the Santander sponsorship tie ins & all the publicity there is no way he could just leave.
  18. I believe "staggeringly stupid" is the preferred expression.
  19. AFM's sold, still some good stuff remaining.
  20. Looks like the FIA have responded to what Ferrari want. Again. http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns19576.html
  21. Just as long as they are stamped "For information only" or "Not for construction" so no dumb arsed engineer goes & builds the things....
  22. I think you are thinking of the KKK turbochargers which are German.
  23. Could be either worn synchros (unlikely) or you clutch is dragging a little.
