  1. Aww, c'mon Baron show the man some love. He is feeling a bit neglected at the moment. Personally I just want a couple of photos of Sato passing Kimi, then Fernando. Go the Super Aguris.
  2. God I hate chemistry. Anyway, density of air at, say atmospheric pressure & 50 degrees C is 1.09kg/m3. So three bar will obvisouly be three times this. Work out your tyre volume & you have an answer. By the way the wheel and tyre will be on the heavier side of 20kg....
  3. It bolts up under the inlet manifold. Get a mirror to see it. Looks like this:
  4. You forgot his brain explosion in '94 against Hill. You are all a bunch of noob's. Best F1 driver of all time was Jim Clark. Senna aside, the rest of those mentioned aren't yet qualifed to remove his tyre warmers - except he never had tyre warmers, or telemetary, or 40,000 engineers to make the car perfect, or crash barriers & side impact regulations. Only a dodgy Colin Chapman chassis that was half as strong as it should have been & a customer Ford motor. But for me the greatest will always be Jack Brabham. He & Ron Tauranac managed to run, engineer & finance a grand prix team (with parallel minor formula involvement with Honda, no less) using an Australian engine to two consecutive World Championships. One to Sir Jack (His third) & one to the much lamented Denny Hulme. Parochialism, sure - but read his auto bio & dig through the things they used to get up to in the 60's. The longevity of both his & Ron Tauranac's relationships with auto giants such as Honda is testament to the integrity & many other qualities that these two old school gents have. Unlike most of those on the above lists you need not make any excuses for them.
  5. This may sound stupid - but the stock ones are handed. Did you put the right one on the right hand side & the left one on the left hand side? Also what is your ride height & how much castor are you running?
  6. Um, I'm in WA.
  7. I will have one for sale in a few weeks. Send us a PM if you are interested.
  8. Yeah be nice to see some proper street races on the list again. Hope they can manage to put some good corners in there somewhere. Actually I used to believe everything the FIA said, but now I just believe everything I read on internet forums. Works for me.
  9. Well that is fine, but do you remember how crap Detroit was? Or the Las Vegas GP that they ran in a car park (I shit you not)
  10. Garth, seriously. If you can get RE55's in that size for $250ea then buy them. Now. The rest of us plebs pay closer to $400 a tyre.
  11. That would be Kiwi land then. Sad, but true. As for the death of track days I can't see them becoming less popular. Only two things loom that may take them out: 1. Cost. 2. Big accidents. The first is obvious the second, well that is pretty obvious too, really. In this day & age it comes down to "has everything possible been done" to remove the chance of injury or death. So how defensible is 200+km/h in a non roll caged car?
  12. A good party trick in a Skyline is to open the bonnet & get someone to push (hard) onthe brake pedal. Then watch that firewall flex. Mmmm, lovely.
  13. Unfortunately anything over 200 & the bonnet starts vibrating & the clacker valve starts actuating & it is all a bit much for me, really. If anyone wants to work out their optimum gear change points (you need a dyno chart) fire us off a PM with your email address & will send the excel spreadsheet with it all on.
  14. Um, multiply the number (ie km/h per 1000rpm) by the old diff ratio & divide it by the new. So 28.5 * 4.111/4.375 = 26.78. It is only 6% shorter - you sure it is worth it?
  15. According to some info I have the in gear km/h per 1000 rpm are: (drum roll) 1st 8.9 2nd 14.8 3rd 21.9 4th 28.5 5th 40 So, at 7200 rpm in 4th you should be doing 205kmh. Which is your change point into 5th unless you want to rev it some more.
  16. DNF due to the gear box lunching itself.
  17. Well for a club sprint the fewer cars on the track at any one time the better. If you are in any way compromised by another car your lap is ruined. Hence it is in your own interest to exit the pits behind another car that is quicker than you. Make sure you take your time on the out lap & give them plenty of space. Ofcourse if they are many seconds a lap slower than you it doesn't help any because you can easily pull back a couple hundred metres. Truth be told I have found it is easier to get respect (ie preference in the que) from the marshalls if your car is all stickered up or generally stands out. If it is plain Jane they will have trouble remembering it & you tend to get put behind the lame arses in HSV's etc. That makes it doubly difficult because you need a large power advantage to get by cleanly on the straight without resorting to a heroic out braking manouvre which will ruin the lap anyway.
  18. You don't need $150 shoes. You can get a pair of OMP Competitions for less than $100. Make sure they are a relatively tight fit (more so than normal shoes) & wear some thin socks. This is important so you can feel the pedals as much as anything. Try something like this: http://www.ompracing.it/detail.html?productcode=IC/763.. You should find them much better than ordinary shoes. Secondly if that isn't enough try the following: Wedge your arse into the seat so as to be as far back as possible. Pull the steering wheel fully out & up. If that fails try a smaller wheel or one with a bigger offset.
  19. It's arse. OK? Not ass. An ass is a donkey. Now where is that thread about American cultural imperialism removing our national traits?
  20. Well wet grass + ABS = you will be stopping next week sometime or in the wall, whichever is closer.
  21. Well I would like to point out that Brembo don't make breaks. Further, despite what you may read to the contrary on this site that you are beating someone does not make loosing a word. Chose is the past tense of choose. Using woot just makes you sound stupid. Lastly the abbreviation ftw used in any form contributes absolutely nothing to the post.

    Long Weekend

Yes. The whole of WA is going to Albany for the two hillclimbs & the Round the Houses event.
  23. Times are here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=46199 siddr20 - now you have caught the bug you are basically screwed. Get used to spending all your money on go fast upgrades, maintenance, licence fees, membership fees, entry fees etc etc. Unfortunately there is nothing anywhere near as much fun as motorsport. You will be amazed by how much quicker you will go next time......
  24. Before I read that last line I was about to start bagging you. But good call. What annoys me is how Bernie goes to war with each of the established circuits. Basically in turns. This year it will be Magny Cours, next Silverstone, after that Monza etc etc. Then he runs the Uzbekistanian GP on what it bound to be a shithouse circuit & wonders why no one gives a fk about it. By the way, my Nanna drives faster than Ralf Schumacher.
  25. The reason I suggested getting the dot 4 600 degree boiling point fluid is that it has a few things you need: Higher boiling point than the dot 5.1 fluid. It absorbs water more slowly (ie it lasts longer) It feels better. (Mmm, lubricant ) The Motul stuff is <$30 a 500ml bottle which is cheaper than Castrol. Here is a random article on brake fluids which should help explain things. Remember the 600 in the label RBF 600 refers to its dry boiling point in degrees F. http://www.afcoracing.com/tech_pages/fluid.shtml With regard to power steering fluid the propensity to spit it everywhere is not the fluid boiling (Although it can be) but a function of a few things: 1. The car, eg does you R32 have HICAS - more likely to heat the fluid. 2. The track - lots of corners lots of power steering work - heated fluid. 3. The size of your cooling fins/radiator. The GT-R has a fairly gay steering fluid cooling system. 4. How much you put in the reservoir. As the stuff gets hot (& it does get bloody hot) it expands - so if the reservoir is up to the brim it very quickly dumps stuff everywhere. Like Michael said, just use the ordinary everyday fluid you can buy anywhere. It makes no difference.
