  1. Um Scott, in case your missed it, O'Hara is a mate of mine & the sledging is all done in good humour. So please relax. I'm sure he would be happy to take up your offer of a drive. He entered the khana because he hasn't had much motorsport since he sold his Mazda & probably won't until he finishes building his GT40. Lastly, I never said I was or could do any better. The phrase "talks a good lap" should be taken to mean "can't drive a good lap."
  2. Use the search button. This is very common. Just plug ATTESSA into the thing & stretch the days out to about 180 & be amazed by the amount of discussion about it...
  3. Thanks Baron, that champion. If they do have 'em could you ask what the spring rates are?
  4. So what you saying Roy? They are slow, but atleast the are unreliable. Sounds like me, really.
  5. It's all good Norbert. I have no bone to pick with him. The rate he is going with his GT40 he will need to keep in practice with the Commode! As for me showing anyone how it is done, well I can talk a good lap.... Edit: Post fixed to prevent any further misunderstandings.
  6. Could I ask someone to ask a question, by proxy if you will. Japanese suppliers quote the following part number Bils-BPS-8641-268 for an all singing, all dancing set of Bilstein coilovers with adjustable damping to suit an R32 GT-R. Yet my local Bilstein distributor denies that such a thing exists. On the assumption that Heasmans are more competent could I trouble someone to ask the question? http://store.yahoo.co.jp/mudjayson/bps-jpn4.html
  7. Not all Arai's are bike helmets. Some are just for cars. So best bet is to go shopping at somewhere like Revolution instead of the local Honda store.
  8. The VN V8. Trust me I know the bloke concerned. I even mistakenly let him drive my car once. How much did O'Hara have to pay you to write that, Norbert? On the off chance he reads this the world should know he couldn't drive out of sight on a dark night. Anyway he was too damn lazy even to take the roo bar off the thing. Have some more emoticons O'Hara.
  9. Slightly squashed chassis rails are very common on Nissans. I wouldn't be worry about it much if at all.
  10. No. In fact it is a truism for almost all cars heading out onto a circuit. To be properly balanced you don't want much steering lock through the corner. Any more than about a quarter on a GT-R & it is an ugly thing. With this relatively small amount of lock you really need ALOT of caster to make a difference. R32 GT-R's only have 3 degrees. Going to 4 or 5 makes the steering heavier & more self centring (Which is why drift nuggets love caster) but really doesn't do much for your grip. It is one of those things that if fine as far as it goes, but is secondary to other, more important parameters, ie camber.
  11. Australian Grand Prix champion Fernando Alonso says he does not yet have a car capable of winning next month's season-opening Formula One race at Albert Park. Despite setting the pace in testing at both Jerez last week and in Barcelona this week, Alonso says he is concerned about the car's performance. The Spanish reigning world champion says at the moment the MP4-22 looks better than it goes. "The times have turned out well and everyone is aware of us but the car is not ready for Australia and the days are running out," Alonso told Spain's Telecinco television channel. "It is not going to win at the moment. For the time being the thing I like most about it is the colour." "At the moment the handling isn't right, it needs more traction and more power," Alonso said before the Barcelona test. Oh, dear.
  12. You won't stop an R32 R understeering until you either dial in some more -ve camber and/or get the front end roll under control. Check the group buy section for Whiteline bits. I would recommend using something like this kit rather than the Noltec style upper arms or the other Midori style upper links. don;t worry about caster either as this does very little to help things. Also do a search for the part number to see a useful discussion on the same.
  13. My thoughts on second hand AFM's extend as far as don't buy them. No further. You can either get proper, new ones or the Bosch equivalent. If you know anyone who works in the parts trade you can probably get the Bosch ones quite a bit cheaper. By the way, as far as I understand the RB25 AFM doesn't give much additional top end over the RB26 units - this despite it's larger diameter.
  14. Well with a heating torch & a pipe bender you can be your very own custom sway bar manufacturer... Have a look at the current whiteline cattledog. You will see that there isn't alot of science in it.
  15. Have a look in the current issues of Auto Action - there are some very good deals going for Arai helmets. Make: Arai Model: GP JET 2 (Open face) Purchase price: About $700 from memory. Personal rating: Bloody excellent. Light weight, comfortable & good crash rating ie SA standard not Australian standard. Liner is fire retardent but does not remove. Makes you look like Astro Boy which is always a bonus. I use an open face helmet simply because full face ones makes me claustraphobic. Attach a pic: (if you can be bothered). Sorry too lazy, but try www.revolutionracegear.com.au or similar.
  16. Thanks for the offer, Trent. He has some bits & I have enquired about some others. So will give Costa first bite. Cheers Richard
  17. But someone has to be declared winner of the F1 summer series. Inevitably one of the teams runs wonderfully well in testing & then when they rock up to the race the speed has suddenly gone missing. Arrows used to do it really well.
  18. The progress of the aero has been hampered by them having to move/change/stuff around with their wind tunnel. So they are taking pain in terms of progress. By modified, do you mean complete with Renault badges?
  19. Drift shop Australia. Believe the blokes name is Costa. www.driftshop.com.au But as I understand it he is just starting on the Moonface gear. So an email may be the best bet. Just get in line, cause I have first dibs.
  20. I think I will give the rear spacers a go first up. See what it does. May even get to back out some rake angle again. Woo hoo. With the spacers you don't have to press the ball joint out of the arm hence they are cheaper/easier to buy & fit. Also I thought (Probably wrong again) that the blue spacer was the only one available for the front of the R32 GT-R.
  21. So what is the difference between the pro kit & the ordinary kit for the rear? BTW, the Australian distributor for this gear is trying to get onto SAU as a vendor. No having much luck....
  22. Well no seamless shift gearbox doesn't help. Also, they have a heap of work to do on the aero. Engine should be the best in the business Chassis - well I am not sure they make much difference any more. There is basically no front suspension to speak of. All of them have massive torsional rigidity. With a Renault engine the weight distribution must be good. Only think left is the rear suspension. So, who knows? Hopefully Adrian Newey.
  23. By my rough as guts calculations: I have assumed they are just torsion bars. spring rate for torsion bars varies with the fourth order of diameter ie mm^4. But it is a long time since I have been to uni, so I may be forgetting something.... Anyway the numbers are: Front Cusco 24 od, 20 id. mm4 = 171,776 Whiteline front 22 od. mm4 = 234,256 ie Whiteline stiffer by 36%. Rear. Cusco 30 od 25.4 id. mm4 = 393,769. Whiteline 24mm od. mm4 = 331,776 ie Cusco stiffer by 19%. But that does not take into account any adjustability in the pick up points on the lever arms....
  24. From the blurb they look like the lessen the front roll couple (ie raise the roll centre). Which is good in one way - makes for less front roll & therefore better front tyre grip. On the flip side you don't get the weight transfer to the rear which may well promote more understeer. You would therefore have to expect the better front tyre camber outweighs the lesser load transfer front to rear....
  25. Do they have an English option? Can't make head nor tail of that lot.
