  1. The cars cant overtake has been a complaint ever since the invented downforce. It can not be fixed, just made a little less worse. For me the problem was the lack of progress ingrained by the regulations and the lack of money. It used to be that people would front with engine improvements or gearbox improvements or aero/chassis improvements etc. Now either because of the rules or a lack of testing or just because everyone is broke there are only really four teams that can get on with any development worth the name. Of those McLaren is so far behind no one notices a few tenths gain anyway. So this race is just like the last. MB wins and the driver in second (Hamo or Britney) chucks a tantie. Atleast it is better than when Schumacher was the only one allowed to win races, so we should be thankful for that. But yeah technical development and team progress year to year or during the year used to be a point of interest. Not any more.
  2. No mate wouldn't have a clue, whatever matches your handbag. Would suggest not too dark and not metallic. Other than that the GIO GTR should give you a clue. Or this thing. Because we are idiots mostly. This comes about from the way our rules are structured and dodgy practices of importers in the past.
  3. Stuff that. Just use the oil that you intend to keep using. Drop it a little early if you are worried about it, but generally don't stress. Remember the thing was designed 25 years ago and you have to try really, really hard to buy an oil that is worse than the best available in 1989.
  4. Looks neat enough. Good plans - there is no end to stuff you can modify when it comes to GTR's - just need to work out what you want to do with it and work to that end. If you want a colour suggestion - red. Not the horrible maroon you can get but a proper red. You just don't see them in that colour and yet it looks brilliant.
  5. Couple of shots looking down the ports. Inlet Exhaust complete with swarf that I obviously didn't clean off properly.
  6. Finally bought an electric rattle gun. No idea how I ever coped without one.
  7. Don't be hating on the exhaust port. Remember they twelve valves reduce down to six ports so the cross section isn't at right angles to the port and consequently shows it getting small which isn't really correct.
  8. How much that cost ya?
  9. Rag stuffed in inlet manifold possibly not standard?
  10. You are doing it wrong. Caring about any of the attributes that make a car good means you wont ever buy an SUV.
  11. Got given a busted RB26 head so I had it put through a saw. This one had a ported inlet. This is what the inlet valve looks like at standard cam lift.
  12. The amount of muppetry shown by the journo was impressive. Repeatedly ignored warning lights on the car telling him bad shit was happening. Forgot to mention that bit in the story. Was mentioned earlier in different stories but who cares when you can write saying hundreds of thousands of cars are going to kill everyone's children. Muppets.
  13. Probably badge a Ferrari engine as an Alfa or just throw some coin at sponsorship.
  14. Cant offer a brand but just be careful about whatever they measure amps in. CCA and other amps arent all equal. Are there any brands that dont cost an arm and a leg.
  15. Have an old SA2000 compliant GP Jet and just after a new equivalent. Never had an issue with being allowed to use it mostly because I dont bother with the drags. Still anyone with any ideas. Summit dont have any and other than emailing rhd Japan I havent got much of an idea.
  16. Can go to the locals but as I know what size I want I can just as easily get it in from Japan/US. Any suggestions as to where is cheap?
  17. memory card is of high enough class to record the HD video? Class 10 or some such?
  18. Puncture is the next obvious cause. Have seen tyres destroyed after a puncture and that is what they look like.
  19. What was left of the thing by the time you pulled up/got back? Yes it is possible (Although Id reckon unlikely) to pull the bead off the rim if you went really hard on low pressure and hit a kerb etc. Maybe warm them up at a slower rate would be better. The other way works too but is a lot of stuffing around. But all up it sounds unlikely. The things were stretched on the rims I trust?
  20. Nah mate that's ok NSW is a bit of a drive from home. All I would say is a couple things, actually make that three. 1. Having the damper set soft makes springs feel softer. It is not a good thing however as generally underdamped springs tend not to handle as well as they should. 2. Same, same for under inflated tyres. 3. Hillclimb speed is usually about confidence. It is common to go seconds faster as you build familiarity with the circuit. Anyway good luck to you if you are happy with your car & suspension. Just not sure 13kg and comfortable belong in the same sentence. Your car would have left the factory with a spring rate 3kg/mm or less.
  21. The ABS in the R32 is rubbish anyway - it is slow and generally pretty ineffective. Just be thankful its not all of that and leaking as well. I have found the Brembo setup with the Vspec master cylinder to be a little rear biased in any case so if you are happy with the pedal travel it is probably not far from being ok. Did you fit a master cylinder stopper?
  22. You may want to consider a different master cylinder to match the piston areas so you don't end up with a long pedal.
  23. 13kg springs are very comfortable for street use????? What did you use for a benchmark, your skateboard?
  24. Be fine as long as you don't go over 80km/h.
