  1. Just finished the book too. Wasn't too bad for the usual ghost writing. Was his other book any good as Ausse Grit was a bit superficial.
  2. A solid 27mm bar is 4.5kg/m. A 30/20mm bar is 3kg/m. They are thereabout the same stiffness (Hollow 5% more). So 3kg for the rear. Maybe another 2 for the front. Its all weight. Just cant find an obvious answer to the question and material testers can only do so much.
  3. Its hollow. You find me some hollow spring steel in 30mm od and 20mm id. I don't think there is such a thing.
  4. May be the answer here: http://mint-design.ca/2013/04/ Just wonder if the sway bar is spring steel or mild steel?
  5. Well it depends. I have a Whiteline front which is about right and a Cusco rear (fixed) which is too stiff. Was contemplating some more neg camber for the back to grip it up but my gut feel is I have too much stiffness back there. Will pull the front bar up and see how it upsets front grip. It used to be all ok until I put some different oil in the rear diff and now it turns like the diff actually works - which means oversteer. On another topic what diameter springs do the MCA use?
  6. Well for what it is worth I reckon the middle of the Bilstein range of springs (If that makes sense) is about the 5-6kg/mm mark front and rear. The Whiteline and equivalent spring rate is down around 3ish so the damper is a little over done in that setup. When I asked about the Bilstein damping rates from Bilstein they wanted to steer me in the direction of harder springs still. But without knowing the rest of the setup - mostly camber - it is hard to know whether they are on the money or not as harder springs compensate for less camber. Just wish I could get a decent anti roll bar - ie hollow and adjustable. They don't exist, however.
  7. Just get one of the first three of these. They turn themselves off every night and restart automatically the next morning. http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/4wd-and-outdoors/solar-power-and-generators/solar-panels-and-kits.aspx?id=1021381
  8. Well not sure whos engine supply they are taking over? Lotus? Force India? Williams? Plus it will obviously be at the cost of the Infiniti sponsorship. Cant imagine Aston Martin has that much money to throw away on sponsorship anyway. Do I believe it? Not more than the Ferrari engine stories.
  9. Rate the Yokies massively better than the RE55's. Out of interest what changes to the spring rates were made? Damping looks a lot better second time around.
  10. Cracking good race. Best one I can remember for years. Good to see Williams up there running one two - just all turned to custard when they lost grip levels, their aero appears not to enjoy slower speeds. So, who to Williams after Bottas goes to Ferrari to replace Kimi? Hulkenberg?????
  11. The abs and the attessa are only linked in the sense that they are triggered from the same sensors. So whether or not you have abs doesnt change the sensors if I understand it correctly. The sensors feed the AWD system and the abs. The gauge properly goes ape because it thinks you have no wheel speed from one corner and does what it thinks it needs to do to fix it. Which is presumably max front torque? Anyway fingers crossed it is only a wet and or dislodged sensor.
  12. I think the point he is making is that an undamaged R32 GTR with no rust and good paint is an unlikely candidate for sale as a shell or a roller for $10k.
  13. Youre not really trying to read the waveforn, merely to see if the sensor is dead or not. You have four and need to figure out which one is the problem. Does the error code tell you which corner is stuffed?
  14. Nah I meant a multimeter or similar. They are really cheap nowadays.
  15. Whereabaouts in HK can you get a tune done? Ive only every seen places like this:
  16. It would be miraculous if it did.
  17. Do you have something that will read the output of the sensors other than the attessa computer?
  18. Have a poster of the GIO GTR done for/by Windscreens OBrien. Ill dig it out at some point and put it on a wall. Also the wheels one Terry posted earlier. It is not from 1989 but from an anniversary reprint a long time later. Also far too many posters from the V8's and from Ford.
  19. Bit hard to figure out what the number plate on the third one would be.
  20. Don't doubt that but my real world testing puts shock gains in the order of tenths of a second rather than seconds per lap is all. Feeling the difference and going seconds per lap faster are different things. I don't have fancy suspension travel logging either unfortunately. After reading all this shit I may enquire after the golds too.
  21. With all due respect and all that, wtf? How can you possibly get such a gain out of a shock without the replaced parts being utterly and irretrievably fkd? if I find a tenth of a second in a minute lap I am happy with the gain. You just don't bolt one component on and go so much quicker without something being massively wrong in the first place.
  22. Well I am not a big fan of the teins so each to their own. The Bilsteins are good and accomodate a good range of springs just not the sort of silly high numbers people chuck about. If you want to run them with hard springs they need re shimming, which can be done. Nothing wrong with non adjustable dampers. Far better than cheap adjustable types - not that the other two offerings are necessarily that. To my mind there are two important points for a 32R: Make sure you have enough front travel - both spring and damper. One offering talked up by alot of people on here falls short in this area. For example an 8" long 5kg/mm spring only has about 43mm of travel left once installed. Not enough for my book but if you lower the car too much you dont even have that in damper travel with stock strut tops. High spring rates are recommended by alot of people because they compensate for too little camber and too little anti roll. Fix these things and you can run softer springs and generally have more win.
  23. Ballpark MCA is $1500. Depending on what you want the Bilstein price is all over the shop. You can start by pricing up the dampers which are most of the price. Then pick your springs and go from there with other hardware. Just be careful to ensure you include all the requisite bits to get the job done properly. So: Damper. Spring. Top plate (If you want Eibach springs which I would recommend using in 65mm id) The height adjuster thread and nut(s). Also note the front damper come in two lengths, so work how how low you want because moar low and the longer damper with the standard top mounts is a shit combination. Tein. NFI, sorry.
  24. Be hard to maintain the hatred for that lot If Dan signs. Would Tool have a no Dan clause in his contract? Questions for the weekend. How many engine blow ups for McLaren? Can they make Q2 with their new aero package? How good will the B Spec Force India be? How many engine penalties for the Renaults? Will Ferrari be competitive? Williams too, how will they go? How much will Hamo beat Britney by?
  25. Was a good program. Be interested in the size of the bucket of shit he tips on Tool & RedBull in his autobiography.
