  1. You'll probably find the carsales is so crap that you cant list a non vspec or they just screwed up the add. Anyway there are only 9 cars listed so what difference does it make? They said its not correct and to be honest if it was me I wouldn't be paying a premium for V specery. Would be much more interested in confirming the mileage.
  2. Would reckon the other grey one at $49k would be worth looking at.
  3. Well to be fair some people in this world are busy or don't have everything at their finger tips. Doesn't make them dodgy, just busy.
  4. Well the other fun question to ask is who imported and complied it. Will be on a plate somewhere I think or the owner should know. If it is one of the less reputable car yards then you have saved yourself and airfare.
  5. Info? Its just guess work based off some low quality dodgy camera photos. If you are interested in the car you need to go see it. I would ask: Are the turbos stock (It is an odd way to modify a car with an ECU, fuel system when the limiting factor is the turbros). Also who tuned it? Has it had a front end accident? I would ask this because new bonnet, front lip, pods, radiator tend to indicate it may have. I would have a good look at it for signs of front end damage and repair.
  6. Not sure why people are so willing to perpetuate myths about fuel....
  7. For what it is worth. Was reading one of those Haynes manuals for the Lotus 72. Exhaust is from 321. Also: http://www.alunox.co.uk/metals.htm
  8. The Ferrari is a rubbish car. Alonso makes it looks good but it Kimi cant compensate for it in the same manner. See here: http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/f1/kimis-struggle/
  9. Well if you just swapped the ECU's does it fix itself when you swap them back?
  10. Because they don't but its a boring argument so lets not have it. Basically it runs along the lines of: The technology was invented/used elsewhere first. The application in F1 is too specialised, complicated and sophisticated to ever trickle down to the neighbours Hyundai. The amount of R&D done in F1 teams as a % of that done by the suppliers and the car industry in general is stuff all. That whenever good technology appears it gets banned anyway. That all it ever does is make shit fashionable, not possible. So your shiney new Mazda 3 has flappy paddle gear shifts (Sadly not a dual clutch manual but on an auto), fake carbon fibre trim everywhere and still sells off the back of its pharken facebook connectivity. Then someone says what about aero my car has aero, F1 has aero therefore they are the same and one follows the other. Add in a couple of facepalm jpegs and that's about it, really. So anyway back on topic. How rubbish is Homo?
  11. Well if you say you need x% more (don't know how many, I cant remember) then you just give them x% more fuel and let the engineers work it out. The change in weights across the race helps change car behaviour and potentially make it more interesting - or just more one sided. The money it costs for the motors is crippling the small teams. Look how far Marussia were from being viable. Tens of millions per year and they weren't spending anything on development.
  12. They missed the boat in terms of how could you possibly explain to someone who is casually interested in F1 or who wasn't into cars in the first place - how do you explain to them how the engines work and if you get to that point what, for example, makes the MB better than the Renault? Fuel economy is good appears to be as much as they can manage - and yeah it is but so is a V8 revving to 20,000rpm and ripping your head off every time it goes past. I don't reckon the races last year were good because of the engines.
  13. Its all bullshit anyway. The CO2 emissions just from running the wind tunnels all day every day far outweigh that from the cars. Then there is all the air freight. Then there is all the miles the spectator travel. And so on and so on. They should be running on ethanol or biofuel anyway. Cant understand why they don't.
  14. Is the chrome depletion inherent in the welding process and is it effectively supplanted by the carbide deposition/precipitation? Or is it a poor process causing the problem? Also is a different alloy a solution. Obviously Inconel works. Would a 321 be a better option? Sorry for the numpty questions.
  15. Im not sure I subscribe to the wrapping causes cracking assertion. I would reckon much of the stainless manifolding will crack anyway. Troy you mentioned stress corrosion cracking. We get that at work but mostly it is instigated by chloride or caustic attack at grain boundaries. Not sure I can figure the mechanism in an exhaust?
  16. Out of that lot sway bars are the cheapest/best. Followed by coils/shocks. Followed by an LSD. The only other things worth considering are bushes (If the originals are stuffed) and grippier tyres. Note grippier tyres not changing rims for the sake of it.
  17. Check them but also wait for a sale. They occasionally do 20% off or similar.
  18. http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/f1/kimis-struggle/http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/f1/kimis-struggle/
  19. Why Flav like and not Flav? Would be worth it for the lols. Be nice if the power that be could find a way of making the lower ranked teams viable. And more of them. Was looking at the 2005 stuff of the back of the earlier posts. Ridiculous how many good teams there were.
  20. Test livery? Cant remember what the colours should be other than light blue and yellow which were sort of Renault colours anyway or just those for Asturias? If all the sponsors are on board because of Alonso does that make him a pay driver?
  21. CSB time. Inconel exhausts wear from the insides out. So the thin wall stuff you see on race cars has a very finite life.
  22. Mine warped then cracked. So it was a matter of which caused the failure first. Will have a look to see where it cracked but would guess a weld. FWIW I have no faith that such a thin coating of ceramic does anything to restrict heat transfer. There is a reason we use massively thick refractory on our vessels.
  23. Why not a brake rotor or just the hat?
  24. Yes 19" is too big. 17 or 18 is the right size, anything larger just look too fully sik & hectic basically. You don't use different sized rims because a different rolling diameter will upset your 4WD system and a different tyre width will just make the thing understeer even worse than it already does.
  25. Second hand ones are not worth the effort. Better off with a reconditioned item.
