Not sure how that works. How does Maldonado get paid given he brings in a heap of cash to the team? Do they just shove it around so he is basically taking a cut of the sponsors coin? Same for Sauber, arent they are both pay drivers? Massa brought coin with him to Williams aswell. If I remember correctly Britney just signed a what, 3 year deal for 55 Million Euros? Like the add on the tellie says past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. But it is an reliable indicator of how much someone is going to be paid.

There is a really good article about F1 engines in the current Racetech magazine. July 2014, # 164 with a picture of the Nissan ZEOD thing on the cover). Anyway the interesting observations are: That Ferrari are using the same split turbo arrangement as the Merc but with the whole thing behind the engine and the MGU-H between the turbine and compressor. It also uses a water to air intercooler as do their customer teams. This is in the vee of the motor. The Merc in the factory team car also uses a water/air intercooler but the customer teams do not. Says the water intercooler is in the back of the rear bulkhead which would marry up with the compressor. Also the engine has a log exhaust manifold. The Renault in the Lotus uses a water/air cooler which sits on the floor under the exhaust but the RedBulls/TR’s air/air. RB has two intercoolers – one in each sidepod and the assertion is the Renault needs more intercooling than the other motors. The engines have a close coupled turbo with the EGU-H in the vee of the motor. Anyway it is good stuff, a world away from Auto Fiction.

Don't stress about it. People on here get nervous about others doing the wrong thing by the licencing and road laws when it comes to Skylines. So maybe choose words carefully with that in mind. Well has pants his team mate, not that that is a huge achievement. Consistently out qualified him and scored far more points. Driven well, basically.

Random question. Top five drivers to date? Alonso, Dan, Bottas, Kvyat and the Hulk. Reckon the Merc drivers haven't done a good enough job - either of them. Britneys ultimate pace is still in question and Homo has made far too many mistakes.

If it is clunking it is usually cv's which clunk when you are turning and accelerating. A stuffed diff is usually a vibration. Second hand FRONT diffs are a dime a dozen. Find a workshop who puts RB26's in GTST's and they will be tripping over them. -

How about some technical help for the folk. Stuff like: What shutter speed to get a certain type of tracking shot. What speed to adjust the autofocus response to. Also may help to post photos that havent been through photochop if the thing is about photography. Tips 6 & 8 are good.

Tell us what you really think, Niki. Niki Lauda has had a go at McLaren and Ferrari for designing "s**t" cars that cannot rival the Mercedes W05. Mercedes have dominated this year's Championship, winning nine of ten grands prix including six 1-2 results. While Mercedes have been racing away with the titles, Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has been complaining about the F1 rules and the general state of play. And although McLaren have not joined in, Lauda has still had a go at them for failing to produce a car to rival the Mercedes even though it is powered by the same engine. "McLaren have the same engine as us and the car is s**t," he told El Pais. "Where are they? Nowhere. "Watch the Ferrari: another f***ing car. "Next year will be difference because they can change half the engine. "You cannot penalise Brixworth because others are stupid." Asked specifically about the situation at Ferrari, Lauda said: "Montezemolo is trying everything and decided to bring in Mattiacci. But nobody believes that things will change overnight. "He tried to convince Newey to join but could not. "Alonso is very frustrated because for years he is driving a car that does not work. "Right now he cannot go to McLaren because he has a contract. If you have a contract with Ferrari you cannot leave unless they allow you."

Well if you subscribe to the Nigel Roebuck world view CVC is the antichrist. But for my ten cents worth Ferrari have been a blight on the sport since about the mid nineties. They have managed to get themselves in such a position as to win more money than other teams doing better than them, being able to reject rule changes (Hoping that has now stopped, not sure if it has) and generally regarding themselves as more important than the sport and everyon else in it. Maybe CVC & Ferrari could fk off and start their own series. To my mind they need to fix the money and get some more engine equality between the teams running the same engines. So no B spec motors.

There is also an almost limitless range of gear and opinions to go with it. So maybe start by sharing what you want to do with the car.

Dunno when will have to have a look. But if you compare say dans car when he turns in to almost any other you look at the way the wishbones move and it just looks odd. Must be something funky with the roll centres, the cog and the geometry.

You mean he could have been doing what Massa appears to be fixating on. The Lotus appears to be very, very senstive set up wise. Maybe the aero is pitch sensitive or roll sensitive or they havent got their suspension sorted to keep the chassis stable. Cant remember which car it was maybe the RedBull but it looks really odd from the in camera when the car gets turned in. Something funny about how the suspension moves, cant quite put my finger on it.

Cant see Lotus pulling themselves out of the shit next year - better engine aside. Its their chassis that sucks. Maldanado - why did he re-sign? F1 needs to get the money sorted and quickly. All of the teams that should be there abouts are now struggling. ForceitIndia have lost their competitiveness, Sauber are now hopeless, Lotus are terrible, McLaren are fading.... Williams are the only ones who have stepped up and you cant help but wonder if it is because everyone else is hopeless or if it is just they are getting the (second) best of the Mercedes engines? Anyway if the midfield cant run updates because of no budgets then there isnt much hope for any of them surviving, let alone progressing. You live in hope that teams can step up but the brutal reality is they usually just dont. RedBull is the last team to do so but then they have bucketloads of cash to do so. Before that was who - Jordan or Benetton?
