  1. Nah they wont get them changed. Says in the rules that the FIA are the final arbiter of the fuel flow measurements/calculations. There is no way they will allow the teams to decide how much fluel they can flow.
  2. What sort of sway bars do you have - stock ones?
  3. Went to Collie on the weekend. For those who arent from WA it is a small country circuit which takes 50 seconds to get around. It is anticlockwise and if your engine is having oiling problems then Collie will show them up. Anyway the bottom line is there was no more than three drops out of the breather all day. So I am claiming victory and moving on. Need to find a workshop now to sort the boost controller.
  4. Good work. I only went through one set but I did manage to crack both of them. Winning.
  5. No to the exhaust manifolds (between the engine and the turbo) Yes to the dumps. Why 7's & not 9's?
  6. Sweet. Good work.
  7. You can, if you ask Tomei nicely, get them to supply you with a number of different cams - you dont have to go typeA/B/R. Eg the exhaust on a type A is 252 degrees that on a B 260. But you can (Or could) order up a 256 degree cam if you wanted. Anyway with E85 you would lean toward a type B - but again it all depends on how much you want to grind out of the thing and how much low end losses you are prepared to live with. I once had type B's with -5s (albeit on petrol) and as a hillclimber they sucked balls. You cant get out of the slower chicanes as the thing takes forever to get on boost. Type A exhaust cam and a slightly smaller inlet cam made a good difference (Like near on 40 hp at 4000rpm) without killing the top end but again petrol and E85 are different things.
  8. Back in the eighties they used to have the same issues with the boost limiters (bovs basically if i remember correctly) they used to limit the turbo motors. FIA stuff was not up to scratch and the teams quickly figured out how to game them anyway.
  9. Rebuilds, mostly.
  10. Yeah you have to laugh at the mainstream medias attemps to explain what the hell it was he got pinged for. Hopeless. Still brilliant effort by Dan none the less. He just needs to repeat it in a couple weeks and he is on his way to crushing Tool.* Also good effort by Magnussen. Pretty young looking podium, all up. *May have gone a bit early with that prediction.
  11. The rear drains are dead easy as the casting is narrow at the top off the block. The other oil returns less so. Lots of posts in the thread just talk about the head, not the block. But you are right re-reading the original post it references the block too.
  12. I didnt say that. If you look at the early thread it has always been drill out the head. No mention of the block. More recently it has become head and occasionally, block. No one is saying just drill the block. Unless I havent been paying sufficient attention there is a change there somewhere? Just trying to get clarity for people.
  13. There are two things going on here. The most common way of setting up a catch can is to vent the blowby to atmosphere. The oil in the catch can itself goes back to the sump or you collect it and drain it later. The post in Iruvyouskylines post, however, shows as point 5, the blowby gases returning to the motor the way Nissan intended. Which may well be more emissions compliant friendly. If you go with the second option and the oil is not under control you can get fouled afm's from oil in the blowby. I have had this on a motor with blowby and a Nismo "catch can". No one is discussing sending the blowby gases back to the sump (which couldnt work anyway), just the oil in the catch can.
  14. Jenson P1 late in the session? Where the hell did that come from???? Anyway Alonso has beaten that and the Williams is in P3. Go Massa you Brazilian god. Always been a fan. No, really. Dan the Man p4 at the moment.
  15. Yeah the bit to be careful of is that oil returns if there is too much oil will foul the afm's and cause the motor to run rich (it wont actually go bang, just lay black smokescreens everywhere). You can return it low in the sump but it needs to have a check valve otherwise oil can run up the line into the can which isnt helpful. Alternatively you can make sure the oil return is higher up but keep it away from the vents, for obvious reasons. Also, for clarity, there appears to be some creep in the oil return drilling commentary. It has now become head and block??? But generally forged = awesome. Nothing could possibly go wrong. Ever.
  16. Oh and if you do run it like Joshes diagram the catch can must be sealed otherwise you be sucking fresh air downstream of the AFM's if you are running them.
  17. Good post. Couple things: I did the same as listed but if you use a check valve (you take the spring out of it) you can just put the oil back into the sump on the drivers side if you dont want to plumb it back into the turbo intake. So my sump looks bit like Simons just with three -10 fittings, not two. The other half of the issue is blowby control. Cant emphasise this enough. The less gas you have going into the sump in the first place the less of an issue you will have.
  18. Homo, Rosberg, Bottas, Hulkenberg. Vettel in the wall after cracking under pressure from Dan the Man.
  19. Nowhere near as awesome as papaya orange McLaren like they are supposed to be. Got an old Hakkinen MP4-something in the traditional orange livery when they occasionally ran it in pre season testing. Much better than the puke chrome stuff and the old white/red lung cancer fan club colours.
  20. In other lol worthy news Kobayashi says he is at Caterham TO WIN. P1 ya fkrs, P1.
  21. Well I am more worried that Lotus will implode than Romain - what with their debt, shite renault powerplants and a late car. Anyway I may not have been paying attention but have team Abu Dhabi been showing any great speed in preseason with Kimi & Fernando? Looks to be a year for anything with an MB powerplant. Hoping McLaren can get their shit together too.
  22. Yeah just trying to confect a scenario that wont have me chucking stuff at the tellie after Tool fks off from pole for the tenth race in a row. Maybe Team Willy will finally produce the goods.
  23. Be interesting to see how Seb deals with a canine of a car you mean. How long until he spits the dummy out of his pram and starts talking to Merc/Ferrari/McLaren??? Anyway go disco Dan.
  24. Hmm well then back wheels should be stuck to the ground given the relative eveness of the springs i run and despite the fat Cusco anti roll bar at the rear. So I guess the question is do they kope with kerb hopping?
