Whats the mag, Roy?

With the best will in the world (And Dan is a Perth yocal, so you know, go Dan etc etc) ze German has a few wins and other things to his name whereas Dan is coming from the B team. Yes Ricciardo does have some good performances to his name, particularly in quali. But like all sports any amount of success in lower formula or in lesser cars at best only gets you access to the next rung on the ladder. Hoping Lotus does go ok next year. Just not sure how they are to pay for it all.
-
Well if they narrow their focus enough it probably does make sense to run a number 1 & a number 2 driver for some team principals. But for everyone else and for the sport it is hopeless. The Schumacher years did so much damage to the F1 that I dont think it could reasonably withstand that sort of shortsightedness again. Teams should run the combination of the best two drivers they can afford. Sure some can only afford one gun and a pay or second string driver (Look at Lotus for example) but I havent ever thought of Red Bull as short of cash. Yes there are years where having two number one drivers cost teams - 1986 for Williams is probably the standout example. On the flip side 1988 would have been dire if it wasnt for Senna/Prost, instead it was one of the most absorbing years ever. But the constructors championship is worth actual dollars to the teams. Even more if you have the system rigged like team cheater Abu Dhabi. Oh and Vettel didnt ignore the radio calls because he was worried about the championship. He did so because he is a selfish git. All that aside, go Dan.

Wtb - Eoi Big Brakes For R33 For Track Car
djr81 replied to racegtst's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Shaun, Just so you know the F40 Brembo is another 10% pad area above the GTR Brembo and is a radial mount. Not that it is any recommendation but it is what I have albeit on a 324 rotor. You can get a 343 rotor which is about as much as you can shove under most 17" rims although some can fit in 355 which is an easier rotor to source. -
1994 R32 Gtr - Stock To ~320Kw.
djr81 replied to Ambi3nce's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
^^^ -1 I ran a stock internal to 450rwhp for years. Tracked it, hillclimbed it, drove it on the road. It was fine. Then I had it rebuilt and it all turned to custard. If you can live with it off the road for 6 months then just use it up with the stock internals. -
Usually it is a number in thousanths of an inch multiplied by the bore. An RB26 has an 86mm bore which is 3.386 old speak. Now the number of thou depends on your piston manufacturer, your application and experience. Mostly the recommendations are conservative. This is done because a too large a gap is a small, manageable problem. Too small a gap on the other hand can lead to the ends of the ring butting together and they stop working at all well when that happens. Now if I remember correctly CP recommend bore * 0.0055 which gives you 18.6 thou. How conservative or otherwise this number is I dont know but I have seen larger numbers used. Conversely I have seen reference to this being too large. Out of interest do you have the 1.0mm thick top rings in it?

All I did was copy/paste it from the Yokohama website. Not that I care but slower is usually cheaper and more durable. The Yokie price usually includes fitting or delivery. Or both I guess if you take your rims to one of their dealers - which I take it includes one of their non motorsport dealers. That is what they offered me on my last set. I would have done this but I didnt want my Rays rims anywhere near my yocal Yokie tyre man so I got someone else to fit them. Anyway this isnt about A050's. How do the Federals go in terms of heat cycling?
-
Yokohama Motorsport Dealers. Motorsport tyres require expertise. The tyre size, compound and tyre pressure you use can make a big difference to the performance of your car. As such they're sold exclusively through one Yokohama ADVAN Motorsports tyre dealer in each state. Yokohama motorsport dealers can advise competitors on how to set up their car and tyres for the best performance. Last time I bought A050's they were $500 for a 255/40/17. Expect the 235's to be cheaper again.

Why do you want new OEM rear tops etc? Just get some ISC tops similar to whaterver you have at the front. The stock tops dont work well with the 65mm spring. Are the springs all 200mm long because a 5kg/mm 8" front sprng is a little short on travel. I probably missed it but what brand of top did you buy? Rubber or bearing type?

Aside from bulk horsepower the thing you need with a GTR is to try and kill the understeer. If you look at the Nismo spring rates for the 33's etc the rears are HARDER than the fronts - but not the 32's. The major difference being the AWD system reaction. Obviously there is a trade off with traction but this can be handled (In part atleast) with an ATTESSA controller. Other than that run loads of neg camber on the front and as little as you can on the rear. Same for sway bars. Fat as on the back and little on the front. It is mostly about getting the front to grip so you can get on the power. Oh and QR is bumpy as all hell so make sure you have good travel and dont go ape shit with spring rates as it will rattle the fillings out of your teeth.

If this helps it is a drawing of an adaptor bracket for an F40 to R33 GTR rotor (324mm from memory). If you have the offset of the 355 rotor (What Troy was talking about) it is easy enough to figure out the measurements for the bracketry required. The one I ended up with is pretty elaborate and most are much more straight forward. Anyway the trick is to find someone who will machine it for you at a reasonable price. bracket.PDF

Trannie is the same as far as I know. Depends on how many horsepowers you want as to whether the upgrades are worthwhile. Stocker cant be tuned to go pretty hard. Also there was a recent run of limited edition utes with upgrades to interior etc. May be worth looking for one of them as an option. The poverty pack xr6 interior isnt brilliant but you may be able to get a lux pack. Gives you leather, 19" rims, satnav and doof doof. Or just get leather if you want.

I went from the Sumitomo package to the F40. Not a massive difference in the performance but feel and longevity were heaps better. The cooler you can keep pads/rotors the cheaper they are to run. The bigger they are the cooler they run. There are a bunch of cheapo China options if you want to go in that direction.

You say that like being a broke, over weight and balding engineer is a bad thing.
-
Yeah he drove brilliantly then ruined it all by blubbing like a school girl. Some HTFU is needed. Much prefer Alonso's my personal life is none of your fkn business approach to it all.
-
The other way around. The R34 uses 14mm (I think) bolts to the 32's 12mm's. So the holes in the adaptors will be for 14mm hence too big. You can either modify the hub, sleeve the adaptor or make new ones. Well a bigger pad gets a little less temperature and cools a little better. There is not alot in it but everything helps.

Well for what it is worth I am running the F40's on a GTR with the DS2500 pads. They work pretty well, but I did also get the Brembo rears and a V spec master cylinder to go with the callipers. 343 is an option. Project Mu are another brand of rotor than can be bought in that size. Basically you can run any rotor you like as long as the adalptor lines with the "offset" on the hat/rotor. They may not all be the same on the aftermarket rotors, so be aware. Also the bolt size will be wrong on the adaptors as they are off a 34 so you will need to get some more made up - not too hard to do. The good thing about hte F40 is: The pad area is larger than the GTR Brembo calliper. The piston area is the same. The DS2500 pad is not custom. It is the same part number as used on the AU Falcons. So bias is not changed on a 324 rotor from standard and only slightly on a 343.
