  1. Not that it should prevent them being blamed but it is not actually News Corps fault. The BBC cant afford to honour the contract they signed for the races. They stuffed it up, not Rupert.
  2. Forget that, where are my electrically assisted turbo chargers?
  3. Um, I thought they were all the same seeing as 33 seats fit the 32's etc etc. Do the brackets definatelyn ot fit the 32's or is it just that they have not been tried as yet?
  4. They do (Or atleast did) exist as highlight packages. 1990 http://www.dukevideo.com/Cars/VHS/Circuit-Racing/Touring-Car/International/Australian-Touring-Car-Review-1990-VHS.aspx 1991 http://www.dukevideo.com/Duke-Archive-DVD/Car/Touring-and-Saloon/Australian-Touring-Car-Review-1991-Duke-Archive-DVD.aspx 1992 http://www.dukevideo.com/Duke-Archive-DVD/Car/Touring-and-Saloon/Australian-Touring-Car-Review-1992-Duke-Archive-DVD.aspx Bathurst 1990 http://www.dukevideo.com/Cars/VHS/Circuit-Racing/Touring-Car/International/Bathurst-1000-1990-VHS.aspx 1991 http://www.dukevideo.com/Cars/VHS/Circuit-Racing/Touring-Car/International/Bathurst-1000-1991-VHS.aspx 1992 http://www.dukevideo.com/Cars/VHS/Circuit-Racing/Touring-Car/International/Bathurst-1000-1992-VHS.aspx Also there is a bloke who advertises full length Bathurst videos (from 1980 on) in either Auto Action or Motorsport news.
  5. The trailing edge of the inside pad is where they get the hottest - and heat means wear. So that explains why the inner pads wear faster than the outer pads. Why you have a side to side difference is anyones guess.
  6. 1. ECU Installed Rear drivers side Fuel pump related stuff 2. 2 x ECU's installed underneath rear parcel shelf. I'm assuming I have an HICAS & an Altessa ECU. But what's the third for?? ALTESSA's are usually found on the back of shtbox Commodores. HICAS on drivers side, amplifier for radio antenna in the middle, ATTESSA on the passengers side. Another quick question, If my HICAS has been removed, so I need to keep the steering wheel sensor on the column? Or is it linked into the ALTESSA system also. The sensor is not linked to the ATTESSA system - look at the schematic on p CH66 on the manual.
  7. Well you may be right but as a spectator it is much better than the other approach (eg at Ferrari with Schumacher) when the No 2 is subservient in every way. I wouldnt call Williams a B grade team this year either. I dont reckon they are that good.
  8. Well it may fit. Just check it as best you can before you start ripping parts off the car. I had mine fixed locally and installed. That invovled cutting off the inlet pipe & rewelding it in the correct position. As far as I can remember PWR "warranty" does not include freight and as they are in Queensland and I am not it would have taken weeks to get them to fix it. Ignoring the fact that I no longer had any confidence in their ability to get anything right. Had a bunch of other things done at that time so the car got a retune anyway. You shouldnt need one. Can you post a pic? As an aside is there anyobne who does a decent 3" thick tube & fin intercooler for an R32?
  9. Does the outlet look like the one below? The top intercooler is for an R32 GTR from PWR. The bottom is an R32 GTR intercooler. One of these things is not like the other. My question is this: Have the muppets at PWR fixed their drawings so their cooler actually fit now?
  10. The turbos are not sequential. They work off three cylinders each at the same time. There is a mountain of threads on turbo choice & the mods you need to do to go with them. Try a search.
  11. Yeah you can take that comment about ACDC to the bank. Chart below may help also. Cam timing graph.pdf
  12. Numbers shown are open, closed and cam centreline. ATDC = after top. BTDC = before top. BBDC = before bottom. ABDC = After bottom. ACDC = Shite band much loved by bogans. Stock cams Intake 240 degrees 7 BTDC 53 ABDC 113 degrees Exhaust 236 degrees 63 BBDC 7 BTDC 118 degrees Tomei Poncam A Intake 260 degrees 20 BTDC 60 ABDC 110 degrees Exhaust 252 degrees 61 BBDC 11 ATDC 115 degrees Tomei Poncam B Intake 260 degrees 20 BTDC 60 ABDC 110 degrees Exhaust 260 degrees 65 BBDC 15 ATDC 115 degrees You can work out the overlap from there - basically the stockers dont overlap and the B's have 35 degrees of it. Having had them installed then removed I can confirm the Poncam B's take a massive hit on cyl;inder filling at idle.
  13. You have to differentiate between tyres/rims that contribute to what some perceive as looks and those that function well. The 20" HSV rims do neither IMHO. Bit like the cars themselves. As someone who uses 17" the reason is not because I believe them to be better than their 18" counterparts. They arent. The reason is that they are cheaper - about $500 a set cheaper for R compounds. R compounds, relative to road tyres, have very stiff sidewalls. Tyres with too low air pressure on the other hand, dont. A drag tyre is the extreme example. The sidewals are designed to give and thereby provide good traction. Oh and for what it is worth that if you have a proper rim/tyre package the rim is lighter than the tyre.
  14. Yes they were occasionally referred to as such. In the Holden tradition of grey, red & blue motors which were painted, um, grey, red & blue. Paint the thing whatever colour you like. The advantages of black are that it wont change colour when it gets hot & wont show oil/dirt/other crap so much. The advantage of hot pink is, in the main, that it matches your handbag. Mine does anyway.
  15. Actually that is not correct. The bit about Williams, you are on the money about Vettel being a polesmoker. Williams were always unrepentant about not giving a fk for developing drivers. They were happy to let others do it. As for the two in their cars (past & present) the policy is to let them fight it out. Ofcourse when you are 11th & 13th no one really cares anymore. Remember Piquet versus Mansell? Now that was management.
  16. Just to provide some info for anyone looking at this thread/issue. I bought some rear strut tops from ISC (See first picture). The fronts are also available with a rubber mount (you don’t have to have a bearing)but are on back order for the moment. Anyway they are very bling as you would hope. The only issue I had with them is the bush where the shock fits through the top. They are designed for a 12mm diameter shaft. (at that point - the rest of the shaft is typically a larger diameter - 16mm or thereabouts) The Bilstein shaft is 10mm at that point. Anyway I had a couple bushes machined up which makes the problem go away. The mounting differences between the two shocks is shown in the second photo. Note that on the stock top the cad plated bump rubber cap is mounted upside - just for clarity - don’t ever install them like that. The gain in shock travel is 34mm. Changing the small collar (see second photo) can change this dimension. You don’t lose any droop travel (Maybe a couple mm's?) as the standard top shock installation is still a little compressed at full droop anyway. Lastly the spring types are different. Stock spring is a 100mm ID at the top, reducing to 90mm at the bottom. Spring for the ISC strut top is a 65mm ID item. The back isnt so much of an issue as the front - just not got there yet.
  17. They have the same tread wear rating - 100 UTQG. Also the same construction. And yes, Toyo are the parent company for Nitto.
  18. AFAIK Nitto = Toyo. Also Tyre rack do not offer R compounds in anything you would not be ashamed of.
  19. So, um, how is Bruce these days?
  20. www.chevron.com.au They do most of the videos/DVD's. Probably best to send them an email.
  21. Yeah that is the one. His driving was brilliant, his dress sense - notsomuch. I had it stored somewhere (pre Youtube) but cant find it now.
  22. If the RE55 is no more then it looks like I will need something different. Either Yokies or Dunlops. May not have a choice anymore if Bridgestone dont get their sht together & offer something decent. I had always stayed away from the Yokies because of the A048s reputation & the Dunlops because I'm not a squillionaire. Toyos are hopeless on a heavy car. No idea where to source Dunlops from at a reasonable price in WA, however. From memory Wheels World does the Yokies (They sponser the SES & I cant remember the blokes name - how bad is that?) Wish my tub of lard weighed 900kg!
  23. Fair question. I guess the NSX's are expensive because they have held up well and are a cut above the usual Honda/Toyota/Nissan/MItsubishi offerings. There was once a really good video of Senna trying out an NSX at Suzuka (I think) The way he used the throttle through the corners was damned impressive. Worth looking at if anyone can find it.
  24. Surely though more weight requires more tyre pressure? A 1600kg (Full fat with driver & fuel) R32 would want/need a higher run pressure than an Emo.
  25. Yeah I know. I was just shitty because only yesterday I was looking at a series 8 and realising I could actually only ever fit into the fat shtbox Corvette parked near it.
