Touring Car Champion Rounds, Anyone?
djr81 replied to DarkGT-R's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
www.chevron.com.au They do most of the videos/DVD's. Probably best to send them an email. -
Yeah that is the one. His driving was brilliant, his dress sense - notsomuch. I had it stored somewhere (pre Youtube) but cant find it now.

If the RE55 is no more then it looks like I will need something different. Either Yokies or Dunlops. May not have a choice anymore if Bridgestone dont get their sht together & offer something decent. I had always stayed away from the Yokies because of the A048s reputation & the Dunlops because I'm not a squillionaire. Toyos are hopeless on a heavy car. No idea where to source Dunlops from at a reasonable price in WA, however. From memory Wheels World does the Yokies (They sponser the SES & I cant remember the blokes name - how bad is that?) Wish my tub of lard weighed 900kg!

Fair question. I guess the NSX's are expensive because they have held up well and are a cut above the usual Honda/Toyota/Nissan/MItsubishi offerings. There was once a really good video of Senna trying out an NSX at Suzuka (I think) The way he used the throttle through the corners was damned impressive. Worth looking at if anyone can find it.
-
Surely though more weight requires more tyre pressure? A 1600kg (Full fat with driver & fuel) R32 would want/need a higher run pressure than an Emo.
-
Yeah I know. I was just shitty because only yesterday I was looking at a series 8 and realising I could actually only ever fit into the fat shtbox Corvette parked near it.
-
What the one with the Lotus engineered heads in the motor? As if Lotus know anything at all about engines other than how to fail timing belts and burn oil. As for the NSX looking old in the tooth - ofcourse it is. It is a 20 year old design. Atleast it was never really fashionable so misses out on the period peices - although the full width reflective strip on the rear is very 80's.
-
God this annoys the crap out of me. There are two types of handbrake - of those the Skyline has an internal assembly using shoes. Putting the thing on after you have allowed a decent amount of cooling down of the rotors is fine. I have never yet seen a brake rotor ruined by an internal handbrake. If they looked like the one below fair enough - but they dont and its not. Oh and I thought the DBA rotors were supposed to be heat treated?
-
I wouldnt worry about it Chris. Car looks a million bucks to me (Its Richard - the white R32 R from the SES). Not often you see Compomotive rims. Anyway sounds like you wont be at Collie?
-
As much as I cannot figure out why anyone would ever want an auto NSX - guess that there are so many of the fkn things about tells you why Honda offered them like that. I was looking at one the other week. I reckoned given it is a 20 year old design it stands up really well. The car was in really good nick too - it had done something like 200,000kms.
-
For the track. Get proper rotors. Get proper pads. Get proper fluid. Try & sort out some cooling air for the front rotors. Get a little heat into them on the out lap. Cool them as progressively as possible on the cool down. Change the fluid when it looks horrible. Check the pads for wear etc regularly. Check the rotors for wear and cracks regularly.

Cams Approved Fire Extinguisher Bracket

Fit an R32? -
You may, if you scratch around, find some that were imported under the 15 year rule. Not sure if you would want one, but they do exist. The resale on the local delivered examples is actually pretty high. For some reason alot of the are automatics. NFI why.

R32 Gtr Stock Rotors To 324Mm Rotors
djr81 replied to SiR_RB's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Well let us know how you get on. Are they a new pad because I cant remember Project Mu doing something with that working temperature range. Local price is $444. Ow. I think I will order the 16mm pads (and wait a bit) then check them with a 2mm spacer. -

From zeckhausen The 16mm FDSR3028 w/o sensor slot is no longer available in the USA and possibly Europe, but the 16mm thick version with the sensor slot is available. I'm checking to see if it's sitting in the USA or if it has to be ordered from Italy. Meanwhile, I've added the 16mm thick pads to our part numbering system with a "-1" extension to differentiate from the 18mm thick pads. See: http://store.zeckhausen.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=82_85 Will let you know about availability shortly. For some reason, the thinner 16mm DS2500 is more expensive than the 18mm version, however the pricing is reversed with the DS3000, with the 16mm version being cheaper. Odd. Then: I just heard back from Essex - the importer of Ferodo into the USA. They state the FDSR3028H is not available and they do not stock the FRP3028H. It would have to be special ordered from Italy with a lead time of about 8 weeks. -
So one good race in two seasons of mediocrity & suddenly the pressure is on the other guy? Sorry mate but it looks for all the world like Webbers big year was last year. Maybe it is the new tyre but he is struggling massively this year. Bit of a harsh call on Sam Micheal? Do you, like, know people?

Yeah I was just shit stirring Baron. Ferrari was rubbish because it was so disorganised. They should have won atleast half of the WDC's between Scheckter & Schumacher. Not like they were lacking for anything. Anyway on the upside Jody is busy these days: http://www.laverstokepark.co.uk/about-laverstoke-park

Overwhelmingly it is the engineers who decide that stuff. Vettel went short on the ratios and he got away with it because of his qualifying. It did not affect his race. I still cant figure out how you can be into the limiter for so long and still spank everyone by 0.5 seconds. Yeah, fair point. I mean who had heard of Ferrari before Schumacher came along. What had they ever achieved? Schumacher did the same thing he has done any number of times. Doesn't make it right, however. If he didnt put Hamilton into the wall it is only because Hamilton somehow gathered it all up on the grass at god only knows how many hundred km/h. Anyway todays question should be who should MB sign to replace Schumacher. Preferably someone who can keep up with Rosberg.

You may want to tell the good folk what type of dampers they are. Alot of coilovers you would just chuck in the bin. For some brands opinions vary as to how long you should wait after you have removed them from the boxes they come in...
-
Hard to establish yourself alongside when the bloke infront is constantly moving around in the braking zones and taking "innovative" lines through the corners. Running out of revs half way along the straight probably doesnt help much either. Wish Schumacher would just go away and let someone with a future have a go. Di Resta maybe?

Pic of the Ohlins dampers - do they include springs etc?
-
Yeah I particularly liked the way he drove him straight off the road. Excellent race craft. Genius in fact.

R32 Gtr Stock Rotors To 324Mm Rotors
djr81 replied to SiR_RB's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
To them it is a special order or something - hence the stuff around. The ridiculous thing is the $500 the yocals want for the damn things. Using a 324x30. Just wanting to know if anyone has used an 18mm pad on a 30 or a 32 rotor with a F40/F50 calliper. Someone must have tried it, knowingly or otherwise. Does the rear on an R35 have a wear sensor - I dont think it does? -
Be realistic Roy, how do you jump a few places if you are on pole?
-
I am a bit neither here nor there about F3000. Like all the other lower formulae it doesnt demonstrate you can cut it in F1 - just that you may be competitive. Many of the F2/F3000 champions careers have spluttered out and conversely many of the lesser lights have gone on to shine. Look how Ricciardo has treated it. He doesnt really care anymore and didnt all this season near as I can tell.
