Went to Sandown today. Only really got 1 session out though and discovered I need to do a lot more laps to learn the new capabilities of the car. Managaged a 1.20.5 but there is heaps more in it.
So bye bye Brisby.
Given how bloody cold it is likely to be in Shep this isn't such a silly suggestion. I think from memory it was something like 2degs 1st thing on the Sat morning at the August DECA last year.
I was running Tomei 260-9.15's with my 2530's and made a good improvement to midrange when I was running them.
I've gone back to standard cams on the 2860-5's however.
Right - so tell me again where you sit on the SAU Top 10 at Eastern Creek? Oh thats right you aren't on the list.
Ok then - so tell me again where you sit on the SAU Top 10 at Wakefield? Oh thats right you aren't on the list.
Hmmm... then tell me again where you sit on the SAU Top 10 at Oran Park? Oh thats right you aren't on that list either.
Now you are from NSW aren't you? And you have been to all these tracks plenty of times before right? So perhaps we should look no further than you for our excuse supply.
No I said currently OP South is available to be booked on the Sat. Was speaking to John and he said he'd be up for a co-hosted hire of it if the SAUNSW crew were up for it.
I've left the ball in their court.
But to be honest currently we are doing 3 track days in 4 days plus 2 x 1000km drives. That could be enough.
Hey that was a propper OH SHIT moment and one I am glad to have lived through with nothing more than some slightly flat spotted tyres.
Much better than say hitting a wall on the cool down lap....
Or hitting a wall because you went out with a leaking gearbox....
Actually - how many walls have you hit??? And how many balconies have you fallen off? And how many times have you been hit in the head with a lemon?
I just spoke to Winton and since the round of the AMRS is on that weekend it will be a cars only day with the sessions split up between open wheelers / race cars / street cars. So should be great to watch.
No passengers unfortunately - and you can't even practise on Xbox
But here's a half decent youtube link for some visual ideas
John - we'll see if we can get Frank and Kennedy down who have both run in the 43's before (both R33 GT-R's). But I'm also going to be gunning for 45's.
Also mate - we're coming up to Wakefield and EC on November 8th and 9th respectively.

Right - before I get asked too many times right now we don't need to do anything.
A month or so out we'll need to individually book our accommodation. But for the 2 track days we don't need to do anything in advance. They will both just be pay on the day deals. There is no pre-booking or anything.
But this is going to be a fun week.
Alrighty then,
Last Novemeber I organised a road trip to Wakefield and Eastern Creek and it was awesome except for one important thing. I didn't have a car.
So since we haven't been able to organise anything for Tassie this year I'm going to go back to NSW - same time - same places (kinda). Like last year anyone who wants to join me is more than welcome.
I've contacted all the venues and this is the itinery.
Tues 6th Novemeber (Cup Day) - Winton
Special SAU event - more on this later.
Wed 7th Novemeber - Drive to Goulburn
Stay at Wakefield. Accomodation - $50/night/person (at this stage we'll stay there all 3 nights).
Thur 8th November - Wakefield
Cost: $100.00
Require: CAMS L2S and Wakefield License ($50pa. Not sure if the ones from last year will be valid still?).
Fri 9th November - Eastern Creek
Cost: $120.00
Require: CAMS L2S
Sat 10th November - Cruise Home
Notes:
I think everyone that came last year will agree that these two tracks are probably more enjoyable to drive than anything we have down here in Vic other than Phillip Island. And both tracks are completely different. Both of the days are open practise days however - which means no timing. But given this and given they are on mid-week the advantage is you will get as many laps as you desire. I guarantee you will not do as many as you possibly can unless you are a freak If you want timed laps I suggest you get one of the Mychron Lap timers which is what most people did up there last year and they were great.
It's a pretty full on schedule so not much time available for "fun". I've decided that the best bet at this stage is to stay all 3 nights at Wakefield. The accommodation is truely awesome and is roughly 2hrs from Eastern Creek so no big drama's for the drive up and back on the Friday (and gives us a head start for the drive home on Saturday). We don't have the spare day in-between like we did last time hence why I haven't made plans to stay in Sydney.
