  1. Hey just a warning to anyone thinking of getting of these unit's from the original website posted. Ours have arrived and it turns out the cable between the lap timer and the I.R. receiver is only about 50cms long. The standard cable is 2.5m long. So if you want of these things it might be best to speak to John as apparently all units in Australia come with the 2.5m cable.
  2. sif Scotsmans car is fast. I'm looking forwards to this day just so I can beat him. kw's FTW!
  3. I always wax before a track day. It's an important element of weight saving. It's just a shame they won't let me wear that dress on the track when I'm looking my best.
  4. I think it's only fair that we start Mod AWD points from now. So all points gained so far can be given away to charity to the SAU competitor of your choice in say Mod RWD. All in favour say AYE.
  5. Hey girls since you seem to love our little club so much we can send you down one of our custom Team Wang dresses if you like?
  6. I reckon a lot of people unnecessarily lock the HICAS just so they can appear to be cool or hardcore or something. When I first started doing some track work I actually think it was a benifit to me. It wasn't until about 18 month of regular track work when I started to really find the limit that I found the HICAS started to do some things that unnerved me and made me want to get it locked. Especially on long sweepers like at Phillip Island. But it was still a good thing at tighter places like Winton. But until you reach that stage I see no reason to lock it unless it's playing up.
  7. you can fit 265's onto a 9" rim no problems. However it won't provide you with as much latteral grip as a 245 or 255 tyre as there will be a lot more flex in the tyre due to the way it fit's onto the rim. your idea of 235 fronts and 255 rears is perfect IMO. for which tyre best suits read the tyre thread at the top of this page
  8. Yeah they don't really want spectators. That is why they don't advertise the running dates anywhere.
  9. Hey anyone going to this see if Kev will let you do a couple of "cold laps" (a.k.a. low speed) in the reverse direction. I drove the track backwards yesterday and it was a real eye opener.
  10. I'm actually competing with a Perth local (Blaise Paris in an EVO 8MR). Not sure if you know him but if you go to any of the AHG sprint series events he'll be there. I'll be using his car for all my W.A. stuff with him.
  11. I've stopped watching all the trailers as I'm waiting for the movie to come out and don't want to spoil it. Bring on July 4th already!

    Wrx Deca

The 2 full skidpan events were "adapted" from the layouts used at DECA in the 2006 Dutton Rally.
  13. Phillip Island seems to be a funny place for some people. I remember I did a 1.49.3 down there with stock turbo's and everything when I could only manage a best of 1.25's at Sandown. And it seemed I could get into the 49's lap after lap back then. Scotsman still hasn't managed a sub 1.50 either yet he's done a 1.21 at Sandown. I don't know what it is that can make such a big difference at that place but something sure does.

    Deca Review

can't you guys just use the rear seat bolts? No mods to cars then.
  17. Mine used to boil over all the time before I put the cooler on. I think it came from an R33 Auto? Can't remember but it was cheap.

They are also available from Bunnings (near the smoke alarms).

  20. Except we still can't beat a stock EVO at times
  21. Me? I don't have a car yet.
  22. I was more worried about it being in the back half of the car. I remember early on I had issues with the rear of my car espeically at turn 1 Sandown. Anyways - advice has been taken on board and I'm happy to give it a crack without changing things.
  23. I was thinking about this further last night and there might be some other considerations if going for this (which I still will). But I presume - especially with a half cage - that the weight balance of the car is going to be totally pharked. i.e. I know with the GTR's they have a 63f - 37r % ratio of weight and consequently suspension springs are matched accordingly (hence why 650 fronts are matched with 380 rear springs). But I guess a half cage would add weight especially to the back half of a car. Would it be enough to require corner weighting and re-springing do you think? Also with the extra rear weight distribution would things like trail braking become more of an issue and would something like a brake bias become needed? Or am I over analysing the effects of the extra rear weight?
  24. PIARC in 2 weeks is where I hope to make my long awaited return.
