  1. Didn't stop me cheering the GT1 win last year
  2. It won't be a GT-R - unless Nissan builds a 4 door version sometime in the next 12 months.
  3. Yes and No. The great thing about GT1's other than the epic uberness of the cars is that the cars are so different. You have a big mix of V8's, V10's and V12's as well as front and mid engined cars. The upshot is that different cars are suited to different circuits so you don't tend to find one car dominate the whole season (especially now the MC12's are gone!) BUT - it also means that the good cars for one circuit tend to be a whole lot better than the bad cars for that circuit. So you don't end up with the whole field being around max 1s/lap different in speed which is what the Supertaxi's often can provide. Which means there often isn't a whole lot of battles going on.
  4. Fixed
  5. R35's run as a RWD V8 in European racing categories...
  6. Ah - I had the wrong bits and was done for them. I've moved on Although it's amuzing because before entering Mt Baw Baw I rang PW and told him I'd like to enter the event but had been building the car to Octagons regs rather than theirs (which are now quiet a ways part and I wonder if this is one of the reasons for their poor attendance). Anyways - when I told him my car would be illegal in a number of spots according to his rules he basically laughed and said they didn't care what people ran. I'm not entirely sure that a free for all is the best ways forwards but it would be nice if we had a national set of regs that everyone used and that were all actually enforced.
  7. Who knows since NO ONE ever runs the short track since it takes out the only 3 exciting parts of the whole track! LOL But I expect people will be able run a lap under 40s in something decently fast. But why they aren't using the full track is beyond me given that's only a flat minute for proper quick cars.
  8. LOL - I said that because the helmet you will be wearing has HANS posts attached so you may as well use one if you can get your hands on one! ESPECIALLY since we will literally be rolling this car off the dyno and onto the start line - so I won't have a chance to find out if Chris has broken the secret R35 ABS button or not until we are out among the tree's - and we saw during recce that some of those tree's trunks up there were wider than the car! LOL
  9. I have a set of stock R35 rims painted black with very very good Dunlop rubber for sale (The only time the rubber was used was the SAU Nationals at Winton last Oct). Also - they have 285 rubber all around rather than the traditional 255 fronts. $5K including the tyres. Here is a pic of them the last time they were on the car.

  11. I have nothing to do with this but I understand where Ash is coming from based upon what we saw at the TrackBattle comp at Calder late last year. There was a full time attack EVO that wasn't as fast as a well sorted street car due to the fact that a) Time attack cars are generally wider with aero and have to slow down significantly more through chicanes and b) at these really low speeds they were well off cam/boost and there wasn't the chance in that layout for that car to make up ground with it's aero advantage/power anywhere. In skyline terms the course used last year I would have expected the High Octane R32 GT-R to have been significantly quicker than their R34. However - THIS event will also use the rest of the main circuit so the "best" car for the event will be interesting. Having raced the interconnecting track before (probably the last time it was ever done back in 2006) I can tell you the transition is EXTREMELY bumpy so super low cars aren't really going to like that at all.
  12. All of the coolers are now fitted. The HKS DCT cooler is an exceptionable bit of kit. You can see from the pic the mounting, fittings, small washer bottle replacement etc. As can also be seen are the new sway bars and AMS inetcooler. The intercooler itself was also a very nice fit - however some other advise for anyone looking at coolers etc - the hard pipe kit is designed only to be used with the AMS CAI as well. If you want to keep the factory airbox to keep the engine bay looking stock or whatever, the top pipe where the new BOV mount / AFM mounts are on the AMS kit don't fit without extensive modification to the pipe in their kit. They also haven't allowed for a MAF delete from the original location (as its not an issue with their CAI). It's not a big deal to fix for any decent workshop - but it's not something your average Joe could deal with easily (aka me LOL). So if you want to upgrade you intercooler pipes you either need to go for a full system including CAI or else it's probably easier to look at an alternate solution like the HKS one if you want to keep the airbox.
  13. That's a nice rod holder. It should make this the fastest fishing boat in QLD!
  14. Thats a cool website. From the profile picture if you run the 2011 Mac v 2012 Mac over the nose you see a considerable change. However if you run the 2012 Mac over the 2011 RBR you will see an eerie similarity!
  15. Last time I saw it on a hoist I noticed the exhaust just behind the B Pillar was made from some invisible pipe that went all the way through to the tail pipes....
  16. http://www.mountainmotorsports.com.au/ But as I just mentioned - come and do the Tour. A number of guys from here in older GT-R's are doing it and I also have a mate in a 996TT convertible doing it too. *Edit - in the past we've also made a deal with Peter to do just one day of the tour at about half the price. He may do that again if you give him a buzz and is of more interest to someone. Peter Washington - 0418 337 955. Good bunch of blokes that run this.
  17. Haha - I thought of you the other day mate when the boys showed me what was involved in getting to them! As I mentioned before it's easier to justify when you are also doing intercoolers etc. My only regret will be if we decide down the track we also want to do a radiator as that will also involved a major stuff around on these things (including pulling the A/C apart again). The thing is right now the temps seem ok - but not sure how the combination of increased power and potentially restricted air flow with the AMS intercooler will have on the system. But if I'd know exactly how hard it was going to be to do I reckon I'd have just bitten the bullet and got one built and fitted at the same time. And if I wasn't doing Mt Baw Baw in a couple of weeks I'd do that now regardless (but I guess this will let us find out if it is actually required or not - it not part of a typical AMS Alpha 9 package etc but then they seem more focused on 10s of work rather than 10-20mins). OT - but some of you Vic guys should come up to Mt Baw Baw and do the Tour (no timing with the tour but no cages etc required - just a helmet and can take a passenger). $600 (plus another $50 if you don't have a AASA license) and you get to legally blast up and down a very fun closed road for two days without fear of the cops. They are damn good fun things to do and good for a social drink afterwards.
  18. LOL - I'm not yet convinced it's going to be better than Buller - which is one of the best tarmac roads I've driven! But having checked it out last weekend it's definitely a buzz (and better than Lake Mountain).
  19. Small update since it's been a while. We have finally got around to beginning the next series of upgrades to the car. As previously discussed we ordered the DBA updated turbo inlet pipes and have swapped them over. We can now double confirm the difference between the pipes. As you can see from the other picture attached there is not much fun getting to these things though. So if anyone considers upgrades I'd also consider what else you may want down the track as it will save you a lot of heart ache doing as much as possible in one go! Amoungst other things being done to the car now are an AMS Intercooler, AMS Intercooler piping, Special AMS intake piping to the factory airbox (since we must retain it for Targa purposes), AMS upgraded AFM's (again since we can't go to the 3" system) and genuine Spec V turbo's from IHI. We also have the HKS Transmission Cooler, HKS fuel pumps and front and rear Whiteline swaybars and end links being fitted. I'm really looking forwards to seeing how this all transforms the car and we'll be giving it a proper Tarmac shake-down at the Mt Baw Baw sprint in a couple of weeks time.
  20. LOL - don't worry mate. I'm pretty sure you can't catch it through an intercom.
  21. I'm currently sending messages to AIDS boy to come do it too. *edit. AIDS boy says no. LOL
  22. Mt Baw Baw in 2 weeks!!? Brisby and I went to check it out on Saturday. Will definitely be a very cool bit of road to run a rally on - its just a shame they couldn't also have used the 30kms of epic road leading up to it as well. But it's definitely going to be busy behind the wheel - and the last 5kms is definitely STEEP! (Also surprising is that the first 5kms is all downhill).
  23. ABS is underrated when you are used to it being there! LOL I have a picture somewhere of my ABS failure at PI once - the skids marks were there for months afterwards! And Longley is massively bumpy. I was watching my video footage from last year on the weekend and Matt and I got a giggles attack mid stage due to the bumps! I think it was due to a notes call that said "Could be bumpy" and yet we'd already lost all of our fillings!
  24. The "no ABS" thing (and no 4WD at the same time) in an R35 is the default fail mode for everything it seems. I've even had it happen to me in my one when the brake fluid level JUST dropped below minimum. Even though that means the reservoir is still 70% full....
  25. Yeah Tassie Matt's times were amazing. Was thinking it's a good time to have retired from EM! (*queue traditional speculation on the legally of his car now! LOL) Tony Warren must have been shaking his head I'm sure. I think Blaise is taking the right path going into Classics - that field is starting to look ripe for the picking. And if this event is anything to go by I'm taking the wrong path with the R35. Wasn't a good event for them at all.
