Don't listen to the reply above as he doesn't know what he is talking about. The Getrag does need to use an ATF. The Nissan Getrag Gearbox Fluid - which is the same as the Toyota Supra Gearbox fluid (as the gearboxes are the same) - is made by Castrol and can also be purchased under the name of Castrol Transmax Z from your local oil store. I'd highly recommend you use it. Also - there are some internal parts of the getrag that will be slowly destroyed if you use the Redline Shockproof (I can't exactly what they are) but that is the reason why you have to used ATF in the getrag gearboxes. Before you upgraded your clutch to the twin plate the getrag was equipped with a dual mass flywheel. Once you upgrade the R34's to a twin plate and get rid of that flywheel they become noisey as fark. To prove my point - get in the car running at idle - listen to all the noise - the depress the clutch pedal. The noise will go away. So there is nothing basically wrong - it's just one of those things with an R34 GTR and a twin plate clutch.

Bah - I haven't driven Eastern Creek but it's just going to be about 1 corner and that one corner is going to be insignificant next to PI turn 1. Wakefield however is ace fun. It is by far more enjoyable to drive than any track in Vic other than the Island.

Ok - I have a brake issue I'm not 100% sure how to fix or what's causing it. Basically I'm not holding brake pressure - aka the pedal is going to the floor. If you "pump" the pedal and hold it - it will hold pressure fine however. But if you release the pedal about and wait 15s or so the pedal will go straight back down to the floor again. I've bled through about 2L of brake fluid through and the problem is still there. And no stage have we seen any signs of bubbles when bleeding either. The problem has been there ever since I experimented with a hydraulic handbrake system. When you applied the hydraulic handbrake you could feel the pressure come back through the foot brake pedal however. The hydraulic handbrake has since been removed as it was usless for my wanted applications. Is it possible that the hydraulic system has wrecked my master cylinder or is there something else I should be looking at? (When installing the hydralic handbrake we did accidently run the system dry once (no fluid) and apply the foot brake). Or is it possible the problem is somehow related to the ABS unit instead as the ABS and the hydraulic handbrake were not friends? Any advice is appreciated as I don't want to go pulling things appart unnecesarily. Cheers.

Autosalon Circuit Battle (part 2)

Jack - it's being held on Tues 28 + Wed 29 November this time around. If you are keen let me know. -
You only have to compare our jackets to NSW & QLD ones to understand why she'd be keen. SAUVIC for the win.
-
Nice one Juz. Good effort on missing those 2 cones as well.
-
It better be to Phillip Island. The only other reason to come to Melbourne is for DECA which is kewl.

Have you been reading tampon wrappers again Aaron?

Bah HumBug to that Chris. You have a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cups on 17's you can bring along so IF the set of 18's semi's do go bang you can have a back up set to play on / get home on. Tyres excuse is not on for you dude! Those Pilots are a lot better now they have been scrubbed in than they were on that 1st test you did with them. And the fronts from Dutton and the other rears are still ok too. Looks like I'll be coming up on a test set of Toyo's so I don't think I'll be breaking any track records - but I know even on the Toyo's I'll still be faster than any of these NSW gimps. You would be too on old RE55's or the Michelins.

Since this cruise clashes with Autosalon I thought for sure you'd be missing it Matt.

How can you spin at turn 11 if the track only has 10 turns you weirdo? http://www.wakefieldpark.com.au/Environmen...dPark/track.pdf I was known to spin at turn 9 once or twice (or even 7 times) on my only visit there. Infact Scotsman and I are the Spin Kings. Here's our efforts in the recent Dutton Vic at Winton. We'll be sure to bring these skillz up with us to NSW.

My current thought is the Shell on Hume @ 6am.

There is no entry forms or anything for Wakefield. We just turn up and pay on the day. Itinery is as per the 1st post. The only thing left to be discussed now is a departure time on Tuesday. That will be done closer to the date.

Ok. Time to start finalising everything for this event. The major thing people will need to do is book their own accommodation. I have sourced the following places. Wakefield Is easy - just stay at Wakefield. Cost $50pp/pn and includes the best breaky in town. If you are coming to Wakefield you will need to stay here for 2 nights. (Tues 7th and Wed 8th) I have attached a copy of the Wakefield Accommodation application form. Please fill it out and fax it to: (02) 4822 2812. My advice is after you have faxed it to call and ensure they recieved your form (they didn't get mine the 1st time I sent it for some reason) call them on (02) 4822 2811. Eastern Creek Rather than spending $11ty Billion and staying in Sydney town I have sourced some good accommodation in Emu Plains and Penrith for Eastern Creek. However - if you have friends, family or a deep seeded need to spend time at Kings Cross feel free to source your own accommodation in Sydney. Emu Plains has the Neapen River Holiday Village with cabins the same as what we stay at in Shepparton. The rates are awesome and they still have well over 20 cabins available that can sleep 5 or 6 people for the nights we are there. http://www.hvgroup.com.au/HVnepean-river/home/index.html The room rates are such that for a Park Villa sleeping 5 people it will cost you $23 per night. Shops and a pub are just around the corner as well. You will need to supply your own linen though (But you'll need that for Wakefield anyways). If you are looking at sharing a room and need extra people the best idea is to post up in here. If staying in a cabin isn't your style I can suggest the Penrith Motor Inn (4.5 stars) just down the road. Details for that are found here: http://www.penrithmotorinn.com.au/index.htm It should also be noted another reason for staying in Emu Plains is that Gordon Leven Tyres are found here and can supply / fit / swap all semi comp tyres for us. Gordon is also known to sell regular cheap 2nd hand semi comp tyres should anyone be chasing any for Eastern Creek. So if you are chasing anything in particular it would be best to give them a call beforehand. GORDON LEVEN TYRE & WHEEL SERVICE 133 Russell St Emu Plains 2750 (02) 4735 4500 FAX (02) 4735 2698 If you are coming on this trip please book your accomodation sooner rather than later as I can't be responsible for people looking for a bed. Forms and payments for track day use at Wakefield will be done on the day at the venue. There is no need to "book" a spot as such. I'll post up the Eastern Creek details soon. Hope to see you all there.

East Coast Targa/ Old Pacific Highway
Snowman replied to N1GTR's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I thought CAMS gave approval last week? -
I have one and I'd say there isn't really much to look for when buying them. Maybe if you are definitely after a V Spec make sure it has the diffusers and the full 7 point MFD display (Non V Spec only has 5 point I think). But as mentioned the actual advantage of the V Spec rear diff is questionable. I've infact removed mine and gone to a mechanical diff but the car is mostly used for motorsports. Personally I do see advantages in buying locally. The one major thing that can be wrong in these cars quite often is the gearbox. So if you can drive the car and check all the gears out thats a huge advantage because unlike the R32/R33 gearboxes the Getrag is damn expensive to repair. Also - if you have in mind a few of the "normal" mods these cars get (ECU, Suspension, Cam Gears, EXhaust etc) then buying one locally with these already fitted etc generally means you aren't saving that much if anything if importing. My quick look on carsales showed the white one in QLD with the CSC brakes to be a good deal but if Bayside Blue is what you want the Clayton one sounds ok too.
