  1. PS - Martin - do you still have the old factory turbo's for sale? Or does anyone else have a set they want to sell for that matter?
  2. The $25K ones are the genuine Spec V turbo's. I know because I priced them up myself too.
  3. To handbrake effectively the clutches need to disengage. With the EMO X SST the clutches actually disengage with handbrake activation. The R35's don't do this I'm told. It was one of the first questions I asked about the car!
  4. I started off using a BlueAnt bluetooth system, then change to a Terraphone - then to a Stilo intercom. I'll never use a Terraphone again! The Stilo was perfect - but as you also mentioned earlier I also have a matching Stilo helmet. I haven't used the Stilo with one of the slip in ear pieces but I would definitely bet it would be a world better than a Terraphone. Also - the main different with the Stilo was it was 9V as opposed to the hard-wired 12V Terra - which gave awful interference. If you check my attached video that high pitched noise is the same noise that comes into your ears the whole time with the Terra-phone (video sound was linked out of the intercom). The thing is however that Stilo have stopped making the 9V WRC versions. I'm yet to try the 12V DES style but as others have also suggested I think for the new race car (which doesn't yet have an intercom) I will look at running one off a separate 12V supply. They do say that the 12V Stilo's don't get interference but after my one 12V experience I'm not convinced.
  5. Did they mention what the suspension changes were? shocks, springs, arms? I'd like to see how they manage to alter the pick up points!
  6. Nice clean lap
  7. I think having done a few thousand km's around a place like Bathurst helps as well.
  8. I ran 36PSI on the Dunlops. For the Toyo's I tried 3 sessions at 3 different pressures. 34PSI - 1.46.9 best 33PSI - 1.46.9 32PSI - 1.46.7 But I thought over the duration of the whole session the tyres felt the best consistently at 34. DOUGMO - were you in the Silvia always behind us? If so apologies for the one lap I stuffed for you. I was always doing 1 full cool-down lap (rather than just 4 corners) and I know I got in your way once.
  9. Yeah he pulled boost out after the first session! LOL He mentioned something about "safety margins" but yeah I presume it was referring to me getting near his times and him making sure that didn't happen. But I'll have his measure by Easter I reckon.
  10. Well they are a special lot. Remember when one American beats another American that makes him the World Champion. Even their national baseball competition is known as the World Series
  11. Yes I was using the original RE070R - not the new ones. And admittedly I was comparing older used Bridgestones to new Dunlops - so there might be something in that. I still think the Dunlops are going to be the better of the 2 tyres - but given Marek won Clubsprint on the Hankooks this year and you obviously have a set of 18's they might be worth considering as well? I will personally run Superlap on the Dunlops though. As a side topic - I really noticed the car was wallowing in the rear on the longerer high G corners. Have other guys found that as well? I'm only running stock suspension currently but am thinking of grabbing a set of sway bars to see if it helps settle that down.
  12. My footage - you can watch Ant disappear through Turns 11-12. The rest of the track is pretty even.
  13. Yeah I got mine locally for cheaper than I could import one for - good representation in Oz for Akrapovic which is a nice change. Can check with the Oz agent for the best place locally to get one from. http://www.evlmotorsports.com.au/ The CF tips are especially sexy if you aren't running decatted set-ups. (The titanium ones are sweet too)
  14. I was about 1.5s faster on the Dunlops over the Bridgestones. The Dunlops have much more lateral grip. But at Winton I found they were surprisingly poor in the wet. The amazing thing I found with the comparison of the Toyo and Dunlops was it wasn't so much the lateral grip that was different - the Dunlops are very good there - it was the longitudinal grip. So braking and power down in 2nd gear. That is where the Toyo's are MUCH better.
  15. I guess for those that don't read the US stuff - this is the difference between the 08-10 pipes and the 11+ pipes. The black line on the old pipes is the turbo flange diameter. You really have to wonder if this was deliberate by Nissan as an easy power gain
  16. Yeah sorry - caught up in reading too many US forum posts on the matter. ADM 2011 turbo intake pipes / US 2012. FWIW they were around $600 for a pair from Nissan Oz. Much cheaper than the HKS ones! I've also ordered a HKS DCT Cooler. Keen to see how good that works.
  17. Yeah was a good day (as long as you aren't from NSW) Ant was flying. Was happy with my 1.46.7 Next time we'll add some boost.
  18. Quick update. Fixed the broken boost solenoid, fitted an Akrapovic exhaust system and thanks to Aaron @ Import Monster got a great new set of shoes (Volk G12's) Got a chance to get back to Phillip Island and did some tyre testing on the weekend. Have now compared Bridgestones, Dunlops and the R888's and the R888's are by far the best of the 3 available 20" options right now - for sprint work at least. Managed to improve my PI time to 1.46.75 - which is even better than my used A050's time. Car is still only running 15psi. Have an intercooler, intercooler pipe kit and MAF sensor coming from AMS and will upgrade the intake pipes to 2012 OEM and see if we can't increase the boost some more.
  19. Well you are going to need to wait about another 12 months before I finish developing this next one. We are getting there though!
  20. Wow. As I mentioned before mate there is room next to SMAUG V1.0 if you need somewhere to store it for a while.
  21. I haven't seen a better quality product than the Akrapovic system. If you are in Vic I'd be happy to show mine for sound and fitment.
  22. I taking both the Dunlops (1 track day old) and some Toyo's (brand new) and will be doing some back to back tests on them. Am keen to see the results.
  23. You're going down this time Ant Can't wait to be actually able to use Full Throttle at PI down the straight - will be scary fast in this thing!
  24. Can't help sorry as I'm using my set - but I'll also be down there on Sunday too.
  25. LOL - I have to say I have been fully focused on Euro 2012 right up til last weekend when for the first time since deciding to take a season off Tarmac Rally I really wished I was up at Buller playing cars. Checking my phone for results every 5 mins just wasn't making the time away any easier either. But really it was not getting to catch up with all the crew that was the hardest part. I need to fire up GT5 and do some more Spa laps in the Caterham and I will be cured again I'm sure Anyways - I guess the other BIG Targa news is the extension of the course by another 70kms for 2012. That will make getting a set of A050's through 6 days if it stays dry really really difficult!
