  1. Andrew is BBGTR (WRX Club Treasure) and I think Shane is Aarons mate. Scott - I don't they they offer a driver training option for Phillip Island. There is just full Sprints. If you are not confident on doing that the PIARC weekends do driver training on the Saturdays of their weekends.
  2. As far as I know it's free. It's being advertised pretty heavily on NOVA and I haven't heard anything about an entry fee for spectators.
  3. Just so you all know Ash put a car on its roof once so he's not being condescending to anyone but rather speaking from experience. Even the 2005 WRX Club Motorsport champion managed to have a small incedent with a barrier late last year in the rain and this guy really knows how to drive better than pretty much anyone reading or writting this (as he recently proved by winning the Co-Driver Outright in the WA Dutton Rally) but was still caught out so really don't think you are infallible. Keep it safe!
  4. Current Entry List http://www.wrx.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30937 If you wanted to go and haven't entered yet I'd do so soon as it looks pretty full already.
  5. Are you doubting the speeds???? The main straight at Calder isn't that much longer than the length of the Dome straight and considering we start that in 2nd gear and reach a top speed of about 245km/hr on the main straight then given that Jeff tells me the end corners are taken at 180km/hr+ from when he went on the Dome I expect most of the lap to be over 200km/hr!
  6. Did you check the bottle in your boot (drivers side compartment). Most common reason is the fluid level is low.
  7. Haha - and you've taken your car on the Thunderdome how many times before Aaron?? LOL I really wish the dates didn't clash as I'd love to do the Island. My suspensions done finally so I'm ready to keep you honest. But if you try and tell me that doing the Thunderdome at well over 200km/hr with walls all around isn't going to be scary then you're an idiot. But we'll find a PIARC day later in the year to go down there together.
  8. Hey, I dyno'd a totally stock R34 GTR - I mean 100% stock including exhaust and it produced 178kw's @ all 4 wheels. But your boost seem to be far too low for stock. It should be around 1.0bar. You can even safely increase it to 1.2 without issues and then you should see some results around 230kw's even with the other mods you have. Back in the days when my R34 was running low mods it was getting about 420-450km's from around 50l of fuel. Now I don't get anywhere near that.
  9. Well I can say I bought my skyline as my keeper. Basically I see the car as a never ending project. You can just keep doing stuff to it. And every time you do something new it's like having a new car. No matter what car you get if it just stays the same then eventually you'll get bored of it. The only way to stop that is to get a car you can keep changing and improving. Well thats the case for me anyways. I've had my car for over 2 years and I've done heaps to it but the list of things I still want to do it seems to grow quicker than the list of things that have been done. Other than my GTR my one day desire is for a custom chopped 34 Ford 5 window coupe.
  10. Especially when its the weekend of the Australian GP! My car has already been committed to attending a damn autosalon display at the GP for the 4 days. Man these guys are the biggest muppets ever.
  11. Hey - someone put me onto this so I'll quickly answer. The R34 boxes (getrag) are damn tuff as far as holding power goes. The main gears themselves are nice and strong. What they suck at is the size of the locator teeth (don't know the real term) that you find between the gears and the shift drums. If you are really unknind to the Getrags on the downshifts if you are doing track work then those tiny teeth break quite easily. Then you will not be able to get into that gear above 3,00rpm (its like killing a suynchro) I busted them twice in 6 months before learning to be nicer. Now that I know how to treat it propperly I haven't had an issue. For reference both mine and troys cars are probably around 650HP. But I busted the gearboxes back when my car was about 450HP. Also - as far as the boxes being the same as the Supra - yes the gears are the same but I think the input shafts are a different size. (I fixed my gearbox with Supra parts as Nissan don't sell them) Cheers

    Torched 34

Don't say things like that Rosco! I haven't seen my car in a week so I hope Benno hasn't had an "incident"! LOL
  13. I'm pretty sure we have footage of everyone for the DVD. It might be a while before thats composed though.
  14. No we used them for Dutton. They were easy. Simply had a laptop at each starting gate where the competitors number was entered then off you went. Basically they were timing gates similar to these: http://www.spe.com.au/swift_bu/speed-li.htm But that might be an overkill. If we can punch times directly into a laptop rather than writting them down - and people then get the results straight away that would be pretty cool.
  15. Keep it up Greg! So far sounds good! This concept is just for sending information from the laptop to the phones right? Nothing to do with the timing systems themselves?
  16. At least he "loses" it through the gate! Scotsman Wang Busta is good too. Chris is the king of the assy finishes. He did the same thing at DECA 1 from memory.
  17. Make sure you look at the Forester one!
  18. Motorsport is full of if's. If I didn't do a beautiful but completely unnecessary circle in the morning outright would have been mine. Or even IF the morning group had got to run the skidpan dry then all of those guys could have scored better. Or more realistically if Scotsman had known what he was supposed to be doing on the 2nd battle run (Knee Busta run 2) it would have been his easily. If if if if if! If Pete's internet connection was faster we could all be enjoying the video's by now!
  19. Just call him "Old"
  20. how did I get dragged into this??? god damn it.
  21. Thats one. We normally have 50 odd!
  22. The worst part about not having David in the 350z along is we don't have anyone to post up the Video's! Someone fill his role and entertain us! I want to re-live the day!!
  23. Thanks Geoff - at least now I have a rough idea of how fast those corners can be taken. Adz - 1 day at DECA and now you are hooked! hehe.
  24. Also - it should be noted that whilst Chris and I finished on equal points for the day we did have 6 head to head battles at the end which I won 4-2 so we know who the real winner is.
  25. There is an important question I still don't know the answer to! Where did Bill come from?? Anyone? And WHO was the person with the video camera on the back Trident all day?
