Entry list was supposed to be posted last night so I dunno. There are only 40 entries or so atm. And I also wouldnt be too concered if your credit card hasn't been charged. They used to do this as it makes it easier if you have to cancel. So you can expect to not be charged until after the event has been run.

Very easy answer to this one. Prize Money.
-
Tory? You get a special deal on fake boobs over there mate?
-
Actually - I have considered the SBS thing. How funny if it happened to me. I mean I wonder if I will be the only GTR there without sump baffles? I'm pretty sure I'll be the only GTR there with stock internals.
-
Well Brisby - from what I gather I think we might all actually get only 1 timed lap. The rest of the time is practise. So if you are planning on spinning in the timed lap you won't be doing a 1.09. You'll just be losing. But then if I've ever met a loser...... But now I'm really interested to see what cars they are choosing for their "30" since they got 420 entries. I wonder if there is going to be a bunch of HSV's or things like Porka's or even exotics? Or whether it will just be Jap turbo cars. Since I wouldnt have even known about this event if it wasnt for this thread 420 entries is heaps. God knows who they are.

This is always the most exciting time in F1. It all goes down hill from the first race onwards. But despite this I too am looking forwards to it all getting started. I think the red ones will be back up there again this year. Speak of them - Rossi was pretty impressive yesterday.
-
Clear coat just slows you down. Its all about weight saving.
-
Haha - well Bris I don't know if I was a shoe in. Let's just say some strings were pulled to make sure I was selected.
-
The Ice Supra is coming too. I heard all my details through Nige who spoke to these guys last night. Apparently the rest of us that have been selected will be informed via mail by the end of next week.
-
Ok - apparently I'm in They had 420 entries and they are culling them down to 30 cars. There is 2 classes - race class and street class. So - street registered cars V's full race cars. There was also a huge % of GTR's entered and they want to try and mix up the types of cars as much as possible. Also they are looking at doing it "mid March" which is the only issue since I'm already committed to doing the Calder Rally Masters on March 11-12. But apparently it will be a 2 day event as well with basically practise sessions given to everyone with lots of cars on the track and multiple laps before they settle down to the day of single timed laps.

If I get picked I'll be there! LOL

Duncan, Kel and Fatz have done NSW. So has giant last year. And Simmo of course - but he cheats. Me and Scotsman have done the past 2 Vic Duttons. They are great on the condition you remember to have fun. fatz is the best person for advice on how to do this. If you start taking it too seriously you'll lose the fun factor. But if you are going to do it make sure you get out to a skidpan or motokhana day and learn how to use your handbrake - it's essential for this event. There are more "tricky" events than speed events which is why its not the best event for a skyline. Its also way more fun if you can enter as a team. It is a very team orientated event. But you can be sure the co-driver will be faster! lol

Hey - anyone who hasnt been to Calder before and wants to see some in-car footage here's a good one of a 911 Carrera Sport 3.2 Lap of Calder - Its pretty big at 7.3MB as a warning. But it gives you a good feel for the bumps at the end of the straight, the hill and the flip flop.
-
Yeah John you'll get a number of attempts but each attempt will be just a single timed lap - not like a normal super sprint. Basically the same principle as recent F1 qualifying or the V8 top 10 shootout. As for a date - it doesn't say anywhere. Hopefully it's later in the year so I can make my car a little healthier.
-
Haha - as long as a) we both are there and B) we get a few laps it could be a deal. I mean it is a well know fact that everyone drives faster in other peoples cars.
-
This thread has come a long way since it's humble beguinings! How many people here have actually submitted? Snowman giant Fatz Roy? nfi? Be interesting to see who if any of us get a run!

They had 22 offs in the first 2 runs up the hill on Friday. Crazy event. I really wanted to do it until the weekend. Its not a GTR event. They are too big and laggy. One of the guys we know well from the WRX Club (Matthew Heskin) crashed on the way back down! Not even racing. The CFA had watered the road to try and cool it off and Heskin was trying to get some of the tar and rubber build ups out of his tyres when he spun out and went off the cliff about 15m. He was ok but it put him out of the race when he was in 8th spot after 6 runs.

I spoke to Tony this afternoon. He said entry lists up shortly. There are less than 30 entries at the moment which is why none have been posted up. Sup req's should finally be up tonight so the entries should start to come in now.
-
31st of Jan was when entries closed yep. BTW - for the Martin Notaris fans - he apparently had a big off on the weekend at Mt Buller. The stories going around at the top of the hill suggested he had heart problems afterwards as well. Not sure how true that is. But the rest of the session (SS6) was cancelled after his crash so it must have been decent one. Hope he's ok. He was in an Evo but not that Dutton cheater EVO.
-
It's free to watch. Gates for this event open at 4:00pm. Racing from 5:00 - 11:00pm.
-
Damn - we'll if you and Notaris enter this that's already a pretty decent line up. Although if he brings the EVO we'd have a chance of beating him in a competition for once although I have herad he has done hundreds of laps around that track. Be interesting to see if any of the big porka's are there too. Infact it's going to be very interesting to see WHO gets the invites to this as as mentioned Autosalon have always been about looks more than anything else and it seems they may have a fair few entries.
-
Hey Russ, Have you had any confirmation that you are in? I only just sent my entry off during the week via snail mail so I haven't heard anything. Fingers crossed we both get the invite and we can have another battle and wave the SAU flag!

The first round of the DECA Motokhana events for 2006 is now ready to go. This year we will be holding 4 of these events with a yearly outright championship up for grabs. Also - due to feedback from the last event we are going to limit entry numbers to just 50 to make sure everyone gets a full compliment of runs given the distance to travel. So along with a 20% increase in facility hire fee's for 2006 the entry fee's have gone up slightly (we've kept them as low as possible) to $65. Entry form and sup req's available here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...php?download=11 If you don’t have a license as yet please print and fill this out one of the below forms and bring it with payments to the event to save some time on the day. AASA license is $45 and will cover you for one year of AASA events such as other motorkhana's and track events at Winton and Calder. CAMS L2S licenses are $85 for one year and will cover you for all AASA events and CAMS sprint events. AASA license form: - Click Here CAMS License form: - Click Here A copy of the event schedule will be available around a week before the event and I will post it up as soon as it is done. For those that don't know DECA is on the other side of Shepparton if you are coming from Melbourne. So stay on the main road you come into Shep on and go through the town and on the other side just past the BP is Wanganui Rd. Once you arrive please make your way to the client lounge (purple spot) to register and get your scrutineering forms. Please be ON TIME (8am) or else we'll start late and we'll miss out on some events.

Haha - I wasn't planning on giving guys like Dom a lesson. It's a long standing joke between a few of us regular Vic drivers (Me, Scotsman and a few others) and some of the NSW boys (like Duncan) that the NSW GTR drivers can't drive because it seems the fastest lap time are all (or were) set by GTST drivers as far as these forums are concerned. There are some amuzing threads hidden away on these forums about which is faster on the track between a GTR and a GTST. This is what I was going on about. I don't claim to be anywhere near the fastest or best driver out there. I mean look at our current SAU circuit times leader board. I am on top of say the Sandown times with a 1.22. But I know of 5 GTR's here in Vic which are running sub 1.20's including one in the 1.14's and one in the 1.15's (on semi comps). I'm way off those guys. But also looking at the SAU times for wakefield I see on top is gaint (Russel) whom I know from competiting against at the Dutton and since we both got damn similar times at Winton (0.1s different) I reckon I could try and give his top time of 1.07 a shot. I don't know how that time would go in this competition. I mean you don't know who will actually be in it. I was invited to attend the circuit battle for Serious Performance 8 dvd at Calder early last year. The only cars of note there were the Ice Supra (which set the 2nd fastest time in Autosalons Street Car of the Year Competiton last year at Wakefield behind Dom) and the Chasers R34 GTR. I ended up winning that competiton easily even though back then I had much crappier suspension than I do now and the stock brakes. As perviously mentioned my car is hardly the fastest track car around but it was the fastest there on that day in a comp similar to this one.
