  1. Maybe you need to contact Abbott's for an Invalid sponsorship.
  2. It doesn't take very long so you should only need to be there for half an hour max. Gives you a good excuse to take the day off and put the zillion stickers I'm sure they will give us on. The only oddity compared to a normal track day requirement is 2kgs worth of fire extinguishers instead of 1. (Which is the same requirement for the Dutton). So if you have a 1kg one already you can simply put in another one and that is sufficiant. So far we could have a nice little SAU contingent attending this!
  3. Hey - it's just been announced over the weekend as part of this event one of the track "layouts" to be used will be the GP Track Layout which incorperates both the main track and the Dome into one lap. This layout has only ever been used once before for the 1989 World Touring Car round - which was won funnily enough by a Skyline! Here's the layout
  4. * Date change for the championship. Winton Round moved from Sept 16 to July 8. I was curious as to how they were having Winton on Sept 16 since the Dutton Rally was supposed to be there that day.
  5. Hey Neil, Last year on the "Day of Madness" at Sandown there was a white STi that went into the kitty litter at Turn 1 and rolled. The car was a mess. The driver however was pretty much OK other than being shaken up and a couple of scratches. He was wearing a harness. If you have a look at the damage to the car I have no doubt he would have been much more seriously hurt had he been wearing just a seat belt due to the extra movement in his body during the rolls. Andrew reads these forums now (because he was smart enough to purchase a GT-R to replace the STi) so perhaps he can best comment on these thoughts but I have no problems with the requirement. I'll also put in that I have been going to track days for 2 years now. During that time I know of the following accidents at the track in Skylines or with other club members. Adz - Sandown Emre - Sandown Scotsman - Morwell Al - Calder Gareth - Sandown Roy - Eastern Creek Mark - Calder Joe - Phillip Island (EVO 8) And thats just in our club. But it's far from the end of the list of accidents I've seen. But I think all of the guys listed above would agree with the need for a harness in high powered cars.
  6. Full Slicks are allowed - but you need an FIA approved roll cage if you are going to run slicks.
  7. Last year in our classes we set the rules for modified as: changes to 2 or more of - turbo, fuel pump and injectors or semi-comp tyres or complete engine upgrade. all other mods were free in "standard" class. The 4 point harness from Meridian was around $400 from memory.
  8. Crap - you'll come to Calder because your a sucker like me.
  9. Hey all, Just a quick note to everyone competiting in 2006 in track days that there is a new requirement for Modified Skylines to be equipped with a harness when competiting in the WRX Club events. i.e. cars that fall into either our Modified RWD or Modified AWD classes. But all cars should consider one anyways. They make driving around a track so much easier as you dont have to try and hold yourself in place whilst driving. I can recommend Meridian Motorsport as a good source for these. Cheers Snowy.
  10. yep - I have them (sorry I should have posted it in the original post) Calder_Rally_Masters_Sup_Req_s.zip
  11. I heard that it had been / is being resurfaced.
  12. Calder is putting together a little 2 day Road Touring Rally all to be held on the premises at Calder Park on March 11-12. Basically this will be like a mini Dutton Rally etc in that events will range from track, to drag, to motokhana auto tests. I understand they will utilise the the track, the motorbike training area and even the ThunderDome. You can enter either as a driver only or as a driver / co-driver team. Requirements are the usual track day requirements of LS2 or equivalent license, helemt, fire extinguishers and wrist to ankle clothing. Entry fee is very reasonable at $350pp. More detail here> http://www.motorsport.com.au/news/rallymastsers.htm Down side is it is on the same weekend as our Championship Round at Phillip Island. However despite this I am entering into this event. Cheers.
  13. Recent revalations show that it is unlikely that any of the events will be run under AASA however - including Calder and Winton.
  14. I've updated the original post with a list of events available to club members in 2006. So far I have the dates for PIARC, Maserati Club and the Alfa Club. If others come to hand I'll update the original post. Cheers.
