Some of you are far too anal. Geez. I only have 3 rules. 1. No smoking 2. No throwing up IN my car 3. Dont annoy me whilst Im driving. Other than that I really don't care. I'm probably guilty of breaking Adzmax rule #8. But it's not a personal thing - I lean on everyone's car. LOL.
-
Brutus - if the GTR was a white 33 with black rims it was Frank. He's a wrx club member and his car is well sorted. Next year SAU Vic will be running with the WRX Club track days much like the MX5 club and the Liberty club has done previously. I have run a few times this year with the NDSOC but I find their days a little slow and disorganised - probably because they keep having to pull cars out of the kitty litter or clean up the oil spill from some old datto every session. LOL As for the GTS-T's running at Sandown last time - most were around the mid 1.30's with skylinegeoff's 1.31 being the best time - none of them were running on semi's however.
-
VITZ, The 1.16 GTR is pumping out.... plenty. But it's the response, handling and stopping that makes that car the weapon it is - not just the horses. The S15's I personally think can be a fantastic track car. For a point of reference go and see Donald down at Evolution R for a perfect track S15. He's done a 1.22 around Sandown in his with only around 220rwkw's - but like the racepace gtr has been set-up for response, handling and stopping.
-
So what do you drive Vitz?
-
And Chrisman drives a TX5 and Duncan an S2000 - so anyone is welcome in anything. Just come have some fun.
-
Tony owns the black STi - did a high 1.24 on the weekend. Still running stock turbo's - but thats about all thats left stock on it. That won't be stock for long either so he tells me. He is the ultimate track whore. Has done something like 40+ track days this year. We always see him whenever there's a track day - and he's definitely a good SAU Vic associate.

Geoff is the most comical looking person I know.

stupid r34 gtrs

Yeah - I have promised to take the wife away that weekend. But I am having a mental battle on whether I can make it for the Sunday or not just yet. More than likely I'd say I can't however. But I might come down and watch in the afternoon - see how Troy is getting on with his 1.49 attempt and find out if Scotsman has beaten the 1.49.3 with this new suspension.
-
I thought Chris had 230rwkw's. Either way it damn close to you Troy and you are a lot lighter - and the Dunlops are better than the Advans. Your suspension is set-up decently. Don't know about brakes but PI isn't really dependant on them. No excuses. I'm happy to join Ben for dinner.
-
Your only supposed to change that Castrol SRF fluid once every 6 months / 6 track days aren't you??? BTW - Ben's brakes dont have problems after a few laps - its the engine that needs the rest. Gets hot despite all the cooling he has. Don't know why?
-
HAHA - I only just re-read this - I'm pretty sure the GTR driving passenger didn't say "brake later, brake later" - he infact said "TURN later, TURN later". There's a big difference. Roy can tell you all about turning in too early.
-
Ok Roy - you theory should be tested at Phillip Island by the way (back to the GTST v GTR). You car is more powerfull, lighter and running better tyres than Scotsman. You should in theory beat him. Do it.
-
And don't worry fatz - next year I'm going to come to Syd to set the record straight. Can't have these northerners thinking GTST's are faster than GTR's.
-
Roy - in the first session Benno was "toying" with me. Just staying far enough in front of me so that I couldn't pass - then would give it a squirt just to show how much more power than me he has. Anyways.... down the main straight we'd travel at exactly the same speed. (He just wanted to see what it was like to do it "that slow" BASTARD) At the end of the straight I'd have to brake at the 150m mark and still nearly lost it. He was braking at the 125m mark and doing it easy. And boy did that give me the shits. Yes he has that big big big wing. Yep his suspension is probably a lot better set-up than mine. But he also has THOSE brakes. He doesn't have them for endurance as his car goes into meltdown after 3 or 4 laps. HE says they stop him a lot quicker than standard calipers / rotors. (But does say that the suspension set-ups have to be right in order to get the benifit of them). Right now I am in no position to argue with anything he says.

yep - R34 GTR

$125 per day. For both the Sat and Sunday. Remember there are no timed sessions on the Sat. So you wont have any offical times unless you also compete on the Sunday. And for me I find that timed / competition days bring out your best driving. Sometimes something can feel fast but its not. (Good example is understeer is generally faster than oversteer - but it feels the opposite). So unless you have your laps regulary timed you don't know if you are improving. So anyone thinking of going down that hasn't been before I would strongly recommend you do both days - make a weekend of it - stay down and have a few beers - and make sure Geoff doesnt go anywhere near your cooler pipe unless you want to go for that battle tank look as well.
-
BTW - GTST's continued to get owned big time down South on the weekend. How many GTST's in the 1.20's? How many GTR's in the 1.20's? (Or if you and your car's insane into the 1.16's) How many R31's even on the track? Must have been all been at the supermarket.
-
Troy - are you trying to say that the reason Benno can out brake me by MILES given that we run the same tyres is due to his suspension set-up rather than these massive fark off things? LOL. Na.
-
Gareth - there are instructors at Phillip Island on the Saturday practise day that will come with you. If you think my advise was usefull just wait til you get someone that actually knows what they are doing give you some! LOL. The good thing about the Saturday is its like the practise session last week but like that all day. AKA - its 20min sessions - not 3 laps. So you get a good 8 laps in each session. Not only that - but if you want an instructor you can get one in ANY session. So for example if you are in the Blue group - you can go up to an instructor during the Red group session and go out then - and then still go out again during your group. The instructors are free too and you can use them as many times as you like. That bad thing is you use up LOTS of fuel on this day! LOL. But at the last PIARC weekend we were not allowed "normal" passengers on either day.

Is this for all models? If so Id be interested too.

Gareth - some of you may not have the time to delve into the far depths of the SAU forums - but there is a thread just for SAU Circuit times. The point of the thread is to list not only the top 10 fastest times for every track - but also to compare those times with cars and their mods. If you know your best time or if you have to wait til the final times are release on the Maserati website - put up a post in here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=46199
-
offical times aint up yet. will be up here.... in a few days. http://www.maserati.org.au/Quick_access.htm Also - the Maserati club will send you a copy of the offical times in the mail.

So other than me - who else are we waiting for?
