So chris - your keen for this coming MSCA yeah? If so sweet - will send in my form today. HSV day is weekend after maserati club - so Oct 30th I think.
-
Ok, I have received no word back as yet from the HSV Club. Which means one of 3 things. 1. Its full and they cbf replying to me. 2. They are waiting until after the cut-off date for the cheap rates to reply so that they can try and make us pay more (I'm not paying $200) 3. They are scared we are going to kick their V8 asses and so don't want us there. So forget the HSV day unfortunately. If we really want to eat some HSV's we should get on the ball early and get to Sandown next month. One thing I was thinking is that Phillip Island whilst really fast pretty much sucks for passing except on the straight and into turn 4. Sandown is a much better place for a Super Sprint set-up that the HSV Club do at the end. Anyways.... So the next question is - what about the MSCA on Sat 18th? We have to decide today. I'm still keen if someone else is going to tag along. I can get 1 extra non NDSOC member along too.

Ash - buy her a shirt.

Financing questions re: R34 GTRs
Snowman replied to The Jake's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I bought mine outright too. -
BTW - no word back from HSV. Anyone interested in doing the MSCA day? For those non NDSOC members I can possibly help out for this.

Jayson, I can help you out with the answer to most of these questions. Firstly - the most common problem I find is people make track days a lot more complicated than they really need to be - especially when starting out. The only thing you really need to start is good brakes and fluid. This you have already. I wouldn't be too concerned about your rears just yet. Flags - every time you do a track day before you get on the track you will have to sit through a lecture on this. But if you want to get some advanced knowledge you can click on the flags at the bottom of the PIARC website and they will tell you what all the flags stand for. http://www.piarc.com.au/aa1/default6.htm Going back to my first point of over complicating things. I have height/damper adjustable suspension. I can tell you right now after all the track days I've done I am still MILES away from being in a position to get any advantage by playing with these settings. Just get your ride height to where you want it, I set my damper to the hardest setting - and then just concentrate on braking and turning at the right spot. Track instructors. The only place I know that offers this is PIARC on their Saturdays. You can also do things like the Murcott Motorsport Training day at Sandown but that aint cheap. A lot of the sprint days do allow passengers in the morning practise. I know the up coming HSV day and the Maserati day both allow passengers in the mornings. There will be one of us that will be happy to show you whatever on these days if you like. However - you will also find that if you haven't been to a track before they will group you with slower cars. When I first started off (Feb this year!) I never had any instructors - and there was only me from here going to these days then so I didnt know anyone to show me any tips. I found the easiest way to learn was to find a car I felt I would be comfortably faster than and follow him around the track. Once I was comfortable I found a faster car and then followed him and so on. My first track day for example I started off following a Pulsar (!), then moved on to following a mini cooper S, and finally a Bowell Nigari before I was confident to try on my own. But as I have said a few times - dont over complicate the matter in your head. I'm sure the recent new boys can vouch for this wisdom as they were all the same. Oh - and theres nothing scientific about lap timing mate. We aren't racing for sheep stations. All thats done is a room full of people with stop watches and a pen.
-
Ok speed racers. Here's the scoup. Karyn has emailed me a copy of the HSV entry form. FYI the cost of the day is a reasonable $110 and consists of a practise session (passengers allowed), 3 timed lap sessions of 3 flying laps, followed by 3 "Super Sprints" of 5 laps where you will be handicapped according to the morning timed lap sessions. All in all sounds really cool. Unfortunately - I then rang Chris - the event co-ordinator - about how many spots where left. He tells me there is only 3 or 4 left. (they only run a field of 72 - compared to PIARC that run a field of 120!) Not sure what we want to do on this now? As I said - I have the entry form if anyone is really keen to go. My phone call with Chris was difficult as it was on his mobile and he had bad reception so I might send him an email and ask whether there will be room for say 8 more (they might be happy to increase the field size - although there may be some CAMS related issues with that - I'm not sure)

Bring them to Phiilip Island - show them the penguins - there's nothing else to see in Vic anyways!
-
God damn - another Troy! And another R34 GTR V Spec! And a crazy one at that! We are going to have a fair presence at some track days coming up. And I'm going to have to pull our finger out - or else I'm going to need some more boost! LOL. Emre will have semi's, Troy (ylwgtr2) already has them, RedR32's car is nuts (Ross), and Gerald will have his 32 in action by next year! It could be worse though - I could be running an RB20! Alot of Ross's stuff is coming off. Apparently a T88 isn't that good around Winton. But the base foundation of the car is awesome. But it remains to be seen if it can actually be driven by an accountant.

I will quickly answer this. You can attend other track days which have open invitations (which are most track days) To give you an idea - your SAUVIC membership plus a L2S CAMS licence will allow you to attened the following track days coming up. 19/9 - Sandown (ARCOC) 19/9 - Calder (FFCC) 19/9 - Phillip Island (HSV) 3/10 - Sandown (ARCOC) 16/10 - Sandown (JAG) 24/10 - Sandown (Maserati) 30/10 - Sandown (HSV) 31/10 - Calder (WRX) 13/11 - Phillip Island (PIARC) 14/11 - Phillip Island (PIARC)

First post updated with Session Time/Date and costs. Should be good.

Was going there tomorrow anyways. Have to pick up my FC Hand Controller and have a look at Ross's new beast (will be joining us soon on the track - and will kick all of our asses!)

NASCAR 3D at IMAX UPDATE We have enough interest to do this so I have made a booking. Session will be on Thursday 9th September - 9:00pm Tickets will be $12.50 instead of the usual $17.00. More information on the movie can be seen here. http://www.imax.com/racing/flash.html

mesh - your a funny bastard.
-
By the way - I hate this flag. I probably should do something about getting that fuel issue sorted in the next few days hey!?
-
Guys - this Wed is a NDSOC meet. The next SAU meet isn't until 21st Sept (if you don't count the club launch on the 12th) Apparently the HSV Club don't put entires up on their websites until the very last minute - give their members the fist chance to sign up. However, I did notice in the NDSOC magazine that it said Karyn has entry forms so we can get them tomorrow night at the meeting. Denham - I can sign your CAMS L2S form anytime - so you can either come to the club launch on the 12th and I'll have forms there or else I can even do it on the day.
-
So Team - whats the plan for the next day out? Anyone keen for Phillip Island for 18-19/9? I know both me and Emre are. The AROCA Day at Sandown on the 19th is sold out already. We'll run the same risk with the HSV Club if we are slackers! BTW - I do know for a fact that the HSV Club will allow passengers in the mornings. Also - if anyone cares - the professional pics are up at www.sdpics.com
-
Its the carpark for the "Coot Picnic Area" - Melways ref 2K E7.
-
On my speedo I've hit 260 down the main straight at Phillip Island - in 5th (I have 6 gears) and still pulling strong.
-
Getrag 6 Speed Gearbox. Gearbox is still in car so can be tested if you are in Melbourne. Was recently rebuilt so is in excelent condition. $5,000. R34 GTR Rims. Rims are in great condition as they have rarely been on the car. Only a couple of very small scrathes. Currently have 75% Advan A048 Semi-comp rubber on. $4,500 with Semi-comps $3,500 without rubber.

BTW - ferni - I hate to say it - but um.... my wang is a lot bigger than yours! (wft's with the shrunken wang?)
-
But Oct 24 - Maserati Day at Sandown has to be done also. Good day out to give you something to aspire too. You go to a day like PIARC and come first and not feel the same urge to go faster as what you do at the Maserati day where every second car goes flying past like you are standing still.
-
I'm keen for the HSV weekend - because on the Sat is also an MSCA sprint day at PI - and I've already paid for a day with them so I need to use it up! We'll definitely have to get Duncan out to Phillip Island before he leaves anyways. Maybe Roy can compete with Duncan in his rental if the 32 isnt back?
-
FYI - Im using Ferodo 3000 fronts and Comp 2 rear pads. Amazing combination on the track. Some would say slightly noisey when cold though.
