And jokes about my gearbox arent funny. No there not funny. No.
-
Ferni - is it just you coming up? I can get a good deal on a 5 person serviced appartment in Wang. Also - because most of us are out East we are going to meet in Lillidale at 7:30am tomorrow morning. *yawn* For those that dont have it my number is 0419 375 140. Call me now for a good time.
-
Its not a straight swap. There's issues with diff mounting etc etc. I looked into it and its a very expensive exercise just for a temperary measure. But its what I'll do if my gearbox isnt ready for the Dutton as I wont have a choice. Im so pissed right now.

I need to have a cry so this is where Im going to do it. Spoke to the guy in charge of getting my parts for my gearbox before as he's been away the last few days. I asked for an update and he told me he got the parts last friday and so the guy fixing it should have recieved them. Coolies indeed - was thinking Id have it for this weekend afterall. So I gave the gearbox repairer a call to find out how it was going. Turns out one of the parts I have been waiting for from Japan is wrong. They sent the same part twice not 2 different parts. UNFARKING BELIEVABLE!!!!!! :gaga:

An old friend of mine's sister who lived in Adelaide bought a Pulsar in Melbourne. So after the purchase she and her sister drove it back to Adelaide and just before Ballarat the car was totalled when she hit (and very much killed) a Shetland Pony. It was actually the car in front of her that hit the pony initially but there was no way she could miss it either. She felt pretty good about killing her sisters new car and a little girls pet pony all at once!

Dude - I own a skyline and a MY03 rex. The rex is a nice car with a bit of kick and fun to chuck around but the skyline is a weapon. Having said all that if I had to choose between an R32 GTST4 and an MY03 rex I'd choose the rex - but not for the reasons you mentioned. More because its a near new car and hence would be a better buy. But if we are talking money wise then an MY03 is comparable to an R33 GTR and the skyline would win hands down.

 Not sure what you mean here but I was basically just trying to say that I have a small shift light right now and in the fury of the track when the shift light is really helpfull you can't see it because you really want something that turns on in the corner of your eye but you still catch. Make sense? You really only see the litle light come on if you are looking at it. But if you are paying attention to the road/track you dont know you've reached the shift value sometimes until you hear that wonderful stutter of the limitter! I personally think you need a BIGGER light so that you see it come on.
-
Hey BASE (and geoff) just something I thought I'd throw in here. The R34 GTR's have as part of their little computer thingy a function where you can set the red-line value for you tacho on and a little red light just like this comes on. I never bloomin see the thing come on when Im on the track and I always hit the damn limiter! So consequently Im considering getting a bigger shift light. If my gearbox ever gets repaired Im more than happy to show you guys for your own experience if you like?

Ferni - my snowboarding skills suck ass. Basically I was an old dog trying to learn a new trick but I stick with it anyways.... but at a very sedate pace. From memory you kick ass. A bunch of my mates who are good at boarding and go up to hotham a few times a year for the last 15 years will be there and can show you all the awesome back country area's if you like. I'll be catching up with them on Sat for lunch probably. Last time I went up I went out back with them, kinda got lost, got stuck in the tree's in waste deep powder and thought I was going to die! LOL. Took me 4hrs to dig myself out back onto the track. So I'll be buggered if Im going back there in a hurry. But there are some decent runs in the main section. The top of the summit all the way down to the botom of the village takes about 20 mins (if unlike me you dont stop for a breather!)

Yeah if you have chains bring them for sure! May save $50! As for the cars being safe - well thats a call for you guys to make really. I know personally if I had my GTR I'd rather leave it at the Motel in Wangaratta for the day than drive it up to Mt Hotham and leave it in the public carpark up there. Very excited about going to Hotham for the day though! 118cm currently with snow forecast all week. The whole mountain is open. So awesome. Shame Im so damn unfit and that I'll be completely knackered after 20mins! lol

Ok - everyone thats keen to come - can you all make it to the NDSOC meeting tomorrow night a the Whitehorse? We can make a plan there including accomidation etc. BTW - Chris - yeah as far as I know you just pay on the day. As for the snow trip - I'll have the scooby so we can take that for sure and we may only need one other car (maybe the TX3?) Will just hire chains in Bright. Should make for a great weekend!

Dude - that sucks.

R34 GTR - anyone got their TV working ?
Snowman replied to jezzrrr's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah Troy has. -
Ok guys - for those that are going for the whole weekend (and this is going to tip you over the edge ferni) I suggest that on the Saturday - instead of spending the day in Wangaratta that we have a day trip to Mt Hotham. We will only be 2.5hrs away so we could even go up for the afternoon session (get a half day ticket from 1pm) and do some boarding cause they have over 1m of snow up there. Ferni - as for breaking your car. Listen mate Im 99% sure I will be in the rex. Its 100% stock. No oil cooler, no sticky tyres, no kick ass brakes or suspension - stock. Im not going to be able to go all out for the full half hour every session. In a "normal" sprint day (like what they have on the Sunday for NDSOC) you have one out lap - 3 flying laps - and a cool down lap. I was going to try and do 2 of those every half hour session. That equates to 60 laps for the day (36 flying laps) and anyone who has done track days will tell you that is a LOT of laps - and perfectly safe for your car. And by the looks of it Roy is going to have to do the same thing if he's in a "rent" car. So how's this sounding for a weekend: Friday - Winton Raceway (Open) Friday night - Wangaratta's finest establishments Sat - Mt Hotham snowboarding Sat night - More of Wangaratta's finest establishment Sunday - Winton Raceway (NDSOC - for those who are competing) Sunday night - Sleeeeeeeeep

Track Insurance See if you can even find someone that will offer it to you. As far as I know it doesnt exist anymore. Too many people were going "well my car is insured so I'll see if I can go around this corner a little bit faster......... DOH" When I first got my car I searched everywhere for insurance but had no luck. Now I just take it easy and you realise that non of the other cars on the track have insurance either so they are all very smart about things as well. Its one of the fun risks that makes it so exciting! (If I put my car into the wall there's no way on earth I could afford to fix it! ) Apparently there is no problems getting 98RON fuel. I was going to take 20L of Toluene just in case however. And I believe its about 2hrs from the start of the Hume. I figured I'd be catching up with Roy and whom ever else at the NDSOC meeting next Wed night and we could arrange a meeting time and place for Friday morning then.

Right now that Maria Sharapova bird has to be right up near the top of that list.

I am doing the Sunday if the GTR is ready. If not I will only do track work on Friday but I'll stay up all weekend anyways.

Come on - have a look at her other picture! Her biggest problem is that she's 5'4"!

Some of you may have been wondering what has happened to the great Jamezilla in recent weeks and why he hasn't been seen or heard from. Well I have it on good authority that James was playing around on the internet one day and stumbled across a Russian Mail Order Bride service where he discovered a girl from Ukraine called "Lada". It was love on first sight obviously and I understand he booked a flight stright to Kiev to go and meet her. More detail on her here. http://bride.ru/ph/htcgi/ladies/73/73464PP1.html Apparently things we going very well, he was introduced to her family and was showing pictures of his life back in Australia to win the family over (cause James is such a sensitive man) when the father noticed the plates on his Lada (EXKGB). I believe the Russian government was imediately informed and James is now being interigrated on who is was in the past before he defected to Australia to work for ASIO. They believe that he was a former Russian agent who has faked his own death to defect across. Tragic really. :headspin:

See this also reminds me of my personal plate situation Couldn't get SNOMAN, SNWMAN or SNOWMN So now Im thinking of getting DRKOOL. I think DRKOOL would be a great member of Super Fun Happy Sliders!

I had my first track day ever in Feb this year. I'm not going to win it! LOL But if nothing else my car is damn sexy (Bayside Blue R34 GTR with Bronze LMGT4's) so that should be enough to get on TV if nothing esle. But the plan for this year is to mostly have some fun and learn what its all about cause the car is still pretty stock and Im still a novice. Next year the car will (hopefully) be a beast and I'll take it a bit more seriously. But this time around I'll definitely be having some fun so at times will try and be entertaining! haha. I have to so that I can try and increase the number of SAU Vic entries for future events.

Well in the paper this morning it says sources at Williams have said that Jaguar won't give up Mark Webber until the end of the season (which is fair enough as they will benifit if they can get past Jordon and Toyota in the championship and they'll need Webber to do that) So now Williams are thinking of giving the drive to JV for the rest of the season. This is probably a smarter move if they already know they want Webber for next year but are still unsure of the second driver. Its a shame that this off-field soap opera is more interesting than the racing at the moment.

There will be no super fun happy slidding going on anywhere near my car!

I bought mine from a motorbike shop on Nepean Hwy for $100. The one's from professional racing shops are damn expensive!
