  1. well I still dont have the parts yet. and I dont know when I will have them so it might be the scooby - but I hope not. anyways... gearboxes are the same... kinda. Different input shafts. Have most of the parts in Oz but need some slide sleaves from Toyota in Japan and thats being painfull. Apparently it will work - but time will tell when all the bits arrive.
  2. Yep - date fixed thanks ben!
  3. I just put one up! Sheez!
  4. Things have been very quiet on the SAU cruise front recently for a few reasons. a) The weather has been crap and hence isnt much fun for long cruises B) Neither me or Ash have had functioning cars to do any scouting. And the good news is that neither of those 2 issues have improved! :looney: But instead of spending these cold winter months being anti-social bastards we have thought of a 2 part social event. Firstly - we start off with a short but fun twilight cruise through the dandenongs. Say a meet-up/cruise time between 4pm - 6pm. Then go home, dump the cars, freshen up and meet up again somewhere for a few drinks (and then a few more) about 9-10pm somewhere in town. People would be more than welcome to come to either one or both of these meets. We are suggesting a date for this currently for Sat June 26th. Would anyone be keen to do one and/or both of these events?
  5. haha - no this one is my daily driver.... but its also a company car so there will be no modifying it. So that should help keep the gearbox in one piece. Me and James were testing it out on Sat actually and both of us agree that its just a really nice car to drive. So if anyone is looking for a nice streetable car I'd cartainly recommend having a look at the rex's. Not as a power car but more as a nice overall package. Although Im already having issues with the stupid Brant system. But thats another story.
  6. sif I'd get an RX. WRX all the way.
  7. haha - work actually bought the car for me. So actually work owns the car - not me. But for a guy that doesnt work in sales I did a damn fine sales pitch to my boss to convince him that I would be better off in this nice subaru hatchback than what I would in a ute!
  8. Forget about the whole stupid VL Turbo thing for a minute and go back to the original debate. I bought a new toy on the weekend. And I must say I think its an awesome car. Very nice to drive, awesome handling but doesn't have anywhere near the power of the GTR. But still I'd rather be driving this than the R every day. And I definitely rather be driving this than a R32 GTS-T anyday.
  9. Has to be done.
  10. hahaha - this is an example of why you should come back and read threads! Those pics are GOLD!
  11. Pm sent - alloy gear knob for me.
  12. my bad - got yours and jacks car confused there for a second.
  13. In conjunction with the next round of the MSCA sprints I have decided to post up an EOI for a weekend up at Winton. For those that don't know Winton is open for free practice on most Fridays. So the plan is to go up for the free practice Friday and for those that are involved with the NDSOC/MSCA stay up for the weekend for a day of drinking followed by a day of competition on the Sunday. So the Details: Friday July 9 - Open Practice The track is open from 10:00am until 4:30pm. The day runs in half hour session alternating between cars and bikes. Cost to enter is $100 Requirements - Helmet and ankle to wrist clothes. NO CAMS LICENCE REQUIRED The open day will use the Long Track at Winton. Anyone can come down for this day as long as you have a roadworthy car. Sunday July 11 - MSCA Sprint Sunday has the next round of the MSCA sprints. Several SAU members have now joined the NDSOC and they should be ready to participate in their first sprint series. Also held on the Long Track this time. Anyone is welcome to come down for either of the days but for those interested in both days I suggest we spend Friday/Sat nights at Benella and spend the Saturday at the pub!
  14. Looks like a whole lotta fun. Bummed I missed it. Stupid Golgo. (Just kidding James). Will hopefully have a fully functional gearbox next time so will be there for sure.
  15. It wasnt meshy driving into his own car was it? He has both a silver skyline and an e55!

    Vic Track Day

Roy - we should make Winton in July a long weekend. Go up for the open day on July 9 (short track Im sure) then stay for the weekend and do the NDSOC day on the Sunday 11 (Long track). Sat we can spend at the pub! That way anyone else that want to come do an open track day can as well and it only cost $80 Im pretty sure for the day - as many runs as you like.
  17. I didnt see you keeping up with me! And Jack drives a fricken tow truck most of the time so what do you expect!

    Vic Track Day

Calder and Winton are open practice on Wednesday and Fridays respectively. Relatively cheap to rock on up to their open days and pay whatever. Sandown is $7,000 for the day Plus you need a clerk for the course, medico's etc. Calder is $6,500 + bits. I breifly spoke to Sameer about the possibility of Phillip Island and he was going to get back to me on that one.
  19. Mate Im hoping to have my gearbox funtional well and truly before August. Im even hoping to have it before the next MSCA at Winton so I can put it through its paces. But if things go awefully wrong I may be in contact! I'll be prepared to discount my fee's substancially for you mate!
  20. Roy - Team Vic track day is growing. Sameer is talking to his mate Lindnsay about us borrowing his track for a day later in the year. The number of guys interested in the track is growing quickly so we'll get it sorted. Eventually. BTW - whats happening with you and the Dutton? You still entering now that geoff is a cripple or what?
  21. Was this everytime or just at a set of lights? How about in a run through the black spur or up the Great Alpine Rd. What about at Rob Roy? Even around Winton? Horses for coarses. The rex would kick an R32 GTS-T's ass in certain circumstance but not at a set of traffic lights. So what. Performance isnt all about who wins when the lights change. And considering Ni you were considering a mini for these reasons Im suprised you said that.
  22. Contact Kev or Scotty from Driver Dynamic. Many of us have used the skidpan with them. They will then cover all you liability issues. http://www.driverdynamics.com/index.php
  23. If it was me I'd buy the rex. 10 years younger and still (IMO) a great car.
  24. Seriously - have any of you stopped for one second to think that maybe just maybe the REPORTER got the facts wrong - maybe the jotted notes were misread? Cause I dont believe that there is a Sen Constable out there that thinks family cars take 18s to get to 100km/hr. It sounds to me more like dodgy reporting that article.
